Treble dreams

It’s funny how things workout sometimes, in life and in football. I’ll throw some examples out there.

Many of us would have wanted Sinisalo for the Cups,,Brendan didn’t agree and I understand opting for continuity but now the Cup change has been forced upon him.

Goals,,many of us feared a drop off after losing our number one striker but as it turns out but we’ve just scored 9 in two games, and with lower league opposition today there’s a proper chance of a another high scoring game,,,as soon as we get shot of Kyogo our goals per game average increases?

Greg being tempted by Zagreb,,who woulda thunk it? It’s not as if they were sitting around thinking we could really do with a Scottish left back, and the player himself will be exposed by a lack of height, technique, and pace in a nation that produces quality players, a highly scouted nation that produces so many players I’m wondering why recruit from outside? Still, I’m reminded of telling my dad I was moving to New Zealand and he replied there’s nothing out there, how wrong he was as I had the best year of my life showing one man’s spurred opportunity is another’s heaven. I hope he does go to be honest,,it’s a beautiful place and he will learn, and I personally like the idea of Schlupp and KT taking over the position. As Schlupp will be on a free, we’ve managed a try before you buy, if you wish. But his high wages will be an issue, we won’t have both left backs on top whack, or will we because he’s free? I’m hoping he puts the club into that position, starting properly from today.
Throw in Scales, Ralston, and Murray that’s a completely new back five! I’m not expecting that though, Trusty and Scales would get the nod, Murray given the entire second half if the games wrapped up please gaffer.
We need a good look at him, everyone wants a new youth product breaking through.

In the middle it would be normal gking on sensible to leave out some Bayern starters. But I get the feeling Engels is growing better, more accustomed with every passing minute, and I’ve seen dropping Reo have an effect before, yet the game is made for Luke. Callum will want to Captain the side in every round until hopefully lifting the actual Cup. Brendan doesn’t do himself favour’s with regard to budget when his try before you buy midfield signing Bernardo can’t nail down a first team place but look like a player who needs consistent gametime to progress. Its a tough one,,if I were King I would select Reo, Engels, Bernardo.

In attack everyone assumes Maeda starts on the left given the circumstances but I’m not convinced benching Jota or Kuhn for that matter benefits the player. Keeping those two on the pitch for a half also allows Kenny to start as there’s still goals in the attack. Idah doesn’t need to play the whole game, but I reckon if given minutes he will have a serious appetite to score more than Kyogo, hit 20 or so, just to make a statement he’s the top dog.

Lower league opposition in an early enough Cup tie equals something a bit different, a tinge of mystery, and of course the chance to impress not just the Parkhead faithful but the manager. One might opine a stern test before the sternest of tests is good preparation, but I’m in the take it easy camp. As long as they don’t go out to leave their mark on players, I’m happy with what should be another high scoring home win with all five subs used. Then it’s just a case of repeating it on Wednesday.

Last year, our charity drives raised over £4000 for deserving causes. You are truly a wonderful collective, giving selflessly to others in need.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The bulk of the money was split fairly evenly between our two nominated causes, which were
Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust and Blood Cancer UK.

New Year, New Cause! From 1st January till 30th June, we will switch our attentions to raising funds for another source of wonderful work on behalf of those who need it most.

MacMillan Cancer Care

Once again, the donations page has been set up for us by CHALMERSBHOY, and my grateful thanks to him for doing this and so much more.

One for CCB .Charlie Tully, his maw had a sweetie shop just off the Falls Road, Charlie had to take a tray of sweets into Celtic Park to sell them to the supporters, while hitting an imaginary ball into the net, a foretaste of what was to come.

Sean Fallon and the original Bertie, they were the inspirational players of my youth

I think we have to be confident going into this one-or we never will be! But that should be tempered by the fact that we will almost certainly be playing this match with one eye on Wednesday.

That means getting game time into some of our players while keeping a few others out of the firing line. Certainly makes predicting the line-up rather awkward!

For those interested in the salary capping aspect of FSR it seems from this article

https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6118053/2025/02/06/pfa-premier-league-salary-cap-legal/?utm_source=substack&utm_medium=email that the traditional labour v owner age old battle is underway with Professional Football Association taking on the EPL plans to introduce a full salary cap regime in England.

It also mentions the point I made here in terms of Man City about there being more clubs overall being in favour than against, human nature being what it is. Never discount the self protection nature of human beings when threatened.

I didn’t realise the EPL was going over and above UEFAs FSR either.

The article is well worth reading to see the bigger picture on FSR.

Morning all,

“The next game is always in the most important”.

Today, apart from Kasper, I would start my team for Wednesday.

Hopefully a few up and change 3 at halftime and another 2 shortly afterwards.

Nothing better for the confidence if we go into the Bayern game on the back of a good win, playing well. Sometimes this doesn’t work with rotation !!!!!!

Anyway, hope you all have a good day and COYBIG 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀

Actually, it might be this one that mentions Plato …
https://digitalcommons.osgoode.yorku.ca/cgi/viewcontent.cgi?article=1999&context=scholarly_works
===========

God that was a deep dive into the Plato philosophy.

My take is more simple and demonstrable.
The shadows on the cave wall are result of the meaning folk give to them and debate based on what they believe to be so.

That meaning depends on the information each individual brings to the party.

I’ve demonstrated that what folk base their thinking on is not necessarily complete and sometimes just wrong. That’s the nature of being human.

By adding missing information which is what I tend to do , the purpose is not to say the meaning given to the shadow is wrong but to say think about this angle as it might make the shadow more real and truthful.

I might better understand the point being made in the article if I were familiar with Derrida’s views, but in the sense that we are individually responsible for the interpretations we put on events based on individual experience it might be an idea for us to leave room for uncertainty rather than die in a ditch to be right.

That is a choice being offered not dictated.

My stance is on the lines of
My business is to do my thing, to dance my dance. If you profit from it, fine; if you do not too bad! As the Arabs say,
“The nature of rain is the same, but it makes thorns grow in the marshes and flowers in the gardens.”

Taken from this item on Wakening Up.
https://docs.google.com/document/d/0B62m3ggkEX2RWUV3SS1zVWduanM/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=107947982974245186134&resourcekey=0-ypdxU0PLK6bCkWiqPgPLBw&rtpof=true&sd=true

One of the problems I wrestle with in my thinking is that if it really is true, there would be no one left to shadow box with.

I think that is being true to my advocating we leave some wriggle room for uncertainty.

Auldheid the wriggle room is still as wide as the grand canyon. Well for me anyway.

My understanding of your point of view has been changed mind. But I will stand by my thoughts on the board.

We have a lapdog lawyer in charge, but I still don’t really think he is in charge. You are correct, I have no evidence of this, but that doesn’t make it untrue.

Is this not what religion is based on, a belief, rather than evidence.

In the words of a great man.

I will endeavour to make this club world class in every department.

He never even lasted 3 months.

He was young, spoke to the press and supporters groups. Said he was going to hold these press meetings with supporters groups regularly.

Made ambitious signings and got deals over the line PDQ. They had to be, because the turmoil/shitshoow he was left by the previous CEO.

If we all remember. We chased Howe for months, but would not let him bring his back room staff.

Dom came in and told us that he had spotted Ange while in Japan. Not a bad start and I would trust Dom before PL. ( 1 lie undoes 1000 truths) PL has previous!

Signed Jota, CCV, Hart, Juranovic, Kyogo & Starfelt. Then the wheels where put in motion to sign Daizen & Reo, and if I’m not mistaken, Riley somebody, but he chose Middlesbrough and we got Matt. Can you imagine how good he might have been if Matt was second choice and no doubt we haggled over a couple of thousand

We then decided to put in place a new head of security, the same guy that had given orders to his underlings of how to treat the GB.

The GB walk out, the stadium was like a morgue and it felt like COVID had started all over again, the results reflected that also. All this after Dom had left.

Over 20 years PL has been at our club.
He had an advantage over the huns with 10K more seats, and he still managed to fuck it up in the 10IAR season with his appointments of manager.

DD got BR in the first time.
DD got BR in the second time.
Dom got Ange.
PL got Ronnie
PL got NFL shower an all.
PL got GS

I know what football I would rather watch, and in this entertainment industry that is football, is it not all about bums on seats.

PL had to close half a stadium. That in its self should have been grounds for a P45.

We spend £1 million on lights to attract concerts ( that money could have been spent on the Dortmund setup I keep going on about) plus they had just built the Hydro. Great foresight and how many concerts have we hosted since the light went on? Another waste!

Apart from the 10s of millions spent on frogs looking for a princes, and the complete lack of structure that is for a club our size vital, youth development, transfer& scouting. We are really really poor.

We have Darren O’Dea as our youth and pathway coach. FFS he was lucky ever to have played for us. And what had he previously done apart from play for us to justify his employment? The same as PL’s boy. Answers on a post card.

So for all you board defenders out there, imagine what we could of had. If only we were world class in every department Eh.

As I said the other night, I need to get into my music more, so.

I get all the news I need on the weather report.

Anyway stay safe Auldheid, and you know I’ve just replied otherwise you would miss me😆😁😆

Pitymevin.

Getting a fuller picture might explain why Celtic are run in a dysfunctional manner and having had the experience of working with PL and MN I believe that they believe they were acting in Celtics best interest.

That does not mean I think they are but PL did try to get UEFA support to look into RFC use of ebts. That is a matter of documented fact in a letter of May 2012 to Regan cc Infantino.
The very mention of that name should raise suspicions.
So in PLs position even if he wanted to get justice and tried there was no support from UEFA, SFA or SPL to seek it.
If a person does not have the support for justice how much blame can be attributed to that person?

If you were in that position what would you do if you thought it was in Celtic’s best interest as a PLC to go along with the majority interests especially if the threat as put to me by MN was not to bite the hand that feeds you ie UEFA.

I remember Bankier at the Covid video AGM say that the Board had looked into shareholders complaints (guess the source) and were satisfied PL had acted in Celtic’s best interest so that is the mindset of the club custodians as a whole

The argument then is under those prevailing circumstances what could PL do?

At that point I might argue that preserving the integrity of Scottish Football should have been paramount , I still do given the game is seen as rigged as result of 5WA and that PL lacked the courage to do so, but given that bigger picture and putting myself in the dock on the defense I was only acting in Celtic’s best interest as I saw it but could not deliver the justice supporters sought I was being unfairly judged.

The alternative is that the one thing PL wanted was the same as fellow clubs which was to keep RFC alive by any means. David Low speaks to that at ACSOM interview and the May 2012 letter was a cover up ruse. What would be very interesting to read would be Infantinos reply and it’s tone.

That piece of hard info might be the fact missing to complete the jigsaw.

As regards the rest of your points I reckon (and I’m not being boastful )I could manage the way Celtic internal administration is run much better given part of my experience was to make dysfunctional departments functional. I was good at it.

No square pegs in round holes , processes in place that delivered the strategy that without such process are only words on paper to keep the support hoping.

I did my best to bring PL to account for his lies to shareholders but got no support from the CST to do so.

Does that make me responsible for no challenge being mounted or the organisation that failed to lend support going back to PLs failure to deliver sporting justice?

Having said all that I do not see PL capable of delivering a club that is truer to Celtics original ethos or indeed reflective of modern functional management which is where I think we are at one.

I’m glad you did come back , it is an example of dialogue in action.

Auldheid

Charlie thank you. I do hope to meet up with all those rooting for me.

I also laughed at your take on Platos Cave amongst the Zombies .
I imagine the sheer consternation when Traverso confirmed Sevco were a new club in 2016.
To deal with it the shadows fell back on the letter was fake.

Discombobulated would not cover it.
