Are You Not Entertained?

In the last 3 games we have,,,,,
Scored 13 goals and conceded a solitary strike against.
Successfully navigated another post European tie.
Kept the Treble Dreams alive.
Blooded a new keeper, left back, and a homegrown central defender who is showing good signs of promise.
Seen our first and second choice strikers excel.
Used the entire squad with aplomb.
Witnessed the returning hero strike his iconic goalscorer pose.

Alongside the above we now clash with one football’s true global powerhouses whilst being granted the required clemency to have thousands of our own take over sections of the famous Alliance Arena.

Are you not entertained?
As far as what’s happening on the pitch, the essence of any football club, we can’t ask for better.

As for the game itself there’s plenty of takeaways. Sinisalo looks a well able deputy/replacement sheriff between the sticks, Schlupp is far from an over the hill has been, Murray might become Brendan’s legacy on the pitch, and Ralston is fine against domestic opposition so AJ can get rested when suits.
If I told you our new wide player conjured up two assists and a goal you might say we have a find, well Yang achieved exactly that and it’s understandable that a player getting minutes shows signs of improving. That kind of contribution usually sees a player stay in the first team, he needs to keep doing that to force the question.
Especially now our previous 1st choice has now been shunted to backup striker opening up a potential slot. Daizen bagged a fine hat trick, looked every inch a Celtic No.9, and reminded the world he’s more than just an athlete. He’s not just our top scorer now, he’s and asset to Celtic in every department from pressing to increasing his value as a player. He’s replaced Kuhn as the most improved player.

We certainly bring form into the big midweek clash, these players traditionally finish strong and that looks like repeating itself. Our Treble Dreams are boosted by the 2nd favourites being knocked out yesterday, pity as I wanted their scalp, but Hibs and Aberdeen will be no walkover. The biggest concern is being left demoralized post Bayern, but Brendan is excellent at picking up the group when needed. We might not progress in Europe but we are progressing on the park which bodes well for the summer window (less apparent holes to plug) and the early season qualifiers. We are certainly progressing in the Scottish Cup after being Five Alive!
The entertainment rolls on, the Celtic story continues to be the best page-turner in existence.
Savour these good times.

Wonder if Brendan will be tempted to go with the pace of Kuhn, Maeda and Jota, or the strength of Adam?

MIT,

So it would seem that Sevco have to get to the latter stages of European competition to secure Clements wages. That’s definitely not sustainable.

BMCUWP,

Villa can make up the £4.7m difference almost if they were to beat say Man City in the final. So the winner of the CL is not ensured to earn the most money from the competition. A sop to the elite clubs and risk reduction exercise provided by Uefa.

What I find interesting is that nothing has been enforced by Uefa during FSR periods T1 – T3. It’s an adjustment period to allow clubs to get their finances (accountancy practices) in order.

How any punishment will be meted out to transgressors has not been very specific. Deliberately vague to allow UEFA wriggle room. Competition bans, financial fines, point deductions, squad reductions etc. Although they have had three years to provide a framework how these transgressions will work. The question arises will the members who are provided with more prize money be handled more severely than those who are not handed so much for transgressions or not ? Some of us being more equal than others ?

Well done Queens Park Rangers incredible performance by them and the officials yesterday, if only they could have played for us 5 weeks ago.

Looking forward to the cup draw

Skonto FC was a prominent Latvian football club based in Riga, established in 1991. The team achieved remarkable success, securing the Virslīga championship in its first 14 seasons—a European record at the time—and winning a total of 15 league titles. They also clinched the Latvian Football Cup eight times.

Despite their on-field achievements, Skonto FC faced significant financial difficulties. In 2016, due to these financial issues, the club was demoted to the Latvian First League. Later that year, in December 2016, Skonto FC declared bankruptcy and ceased operations.

The club’s home ground, Skonto Stadium in Riga, remains active. Opened in 2000, the stadium has a seating capacity of 8,087 and has hosted various events, including international football matches and concerts. Currently, it serves as the home stadium for Riga FC and the Latvia national football team.

In summary, while Skonto FC was once a dominant force in Latvian football, financial challenges led to its dissolution in 2016. However, Skonto Stadium continues to be a central venue for football and other events in Riga.

===============
Annex L at https://documents.uefa.com/r/UEFA-Club-Licensing-and-Financial-Sustainability-Regulations-2022/Annex-L-Implications-of-breaches-of-the-squad-cost-rule-Online

and Annex M at https://documents.uefa.com/r/UEFA-Club-Licensing-and-Financial-Sustainability-Regulations-2022/Annex-M-Other-factors-to-be-considered-in-respect-of-the-club-monitoring-requirements-Online

are quite specific about how transgressions will be treated taking the circumstances over 3 years into account.

This is quite sensible as the aim of the sustainability via squad cost control is not to throw clubs out of the competition but to give them the chance to operate sustainably.

So I disagree based on Annex L and M that UEFA have been deliberately vague to allow UEFA wriggle room. They have been clear of their options depending on the historical background behind failures to comply.

I would suggest that if R2ngers were the same club to UEFA then the overdue payable breach by its fraudulent nature in 2011 would attract the severest of sanction.

Giannina who also had an overdue payable in 2012 but did not lie about it might get off with a fine under new FSR instead of refusal to grant a licence having paid the debt after the 31st March 2011.

In terms of debt caused by non football earnings income being breached under FSR UEFA would take a less lenient view based on Rangers history of debt accumulation as a matter of Rangers policy.

The sanction would be get a sustainable policy in place or else.

Different strokes for different folks for sure but deliberately vague to save UEFA from action I do not accept based on the procedures I have linked to.

Auldheid,

Thanks for the links. It will be good to revisit them once they are or are not implemented.

Annex K is where it’s vague and where the deception will take place.

https://www.uefa.com/news-media/news/028f-1b4ba6fcea09-078845f25cbf-1000–the-cfcb-decides-on-multi-club-ownership-cases-for-the-2024-/

I can’t quite circumvent how we can expect the CFCB to act in the spirit of the game and implement their own regulations when they are permitting the environment (industry) to become even more complex and dependent on the Elite.

Your faith in it being properly implemented is leaving me more optimistic I will admit but my cynical bent will only be satisfied when I see it with my own two eyes.

I fully expect UEFA/CFCB to compromise the severity of their actions when dealing with the Elite clubs for the sake of their own financial benefit rather than any desire to act with any integrity.

They have never done so in my lifetime and I don’t expect them too.

Time will tell
