It’s Deja-vu all over again
Pre-season week is here, and of course Celtic (aiming to be world class in every area) are not ready. Thats actually an understatement, it’s utlerly shambolic not to have coaches entering Pre-season week nevermind new players.
We were told of a busy few weeks ahead two weeks ago, and its been a fortnight of silence. It took weeks of talking to reach an agreement instead of getting Shaun and Fozzie to sign the dotted line. That doesn’t auger well for our summer negotiations with potential signings and their agents. One third of the off-season completely wasted bar securing a manager, they very bare minimum a board must do.
They are asleep at the wheel and we can sense the crash coming.
Eyeing up.
In discussions.
Considering a move.
This is insane because we all know theres big cash arriving, they/he either can’t or won’t sanction moves armed with that knowledge? That certainly is holding the club back and this off-season so far is as much removed as possible from world class.
I think we are certain to break the 200m income barrier this year due to the big fees for our players, and probably CL money. It might be closer to 250m if many players depart. We’ve never been richer, more compliant with FSR, we’ve shed a ton of salaries. We will have over 100m in the bank when the window shuts.
Will we have a decent side?
If we don’t that will be the ultimate breaking of the social contract with the board of directors, we provide the money and you spend it.
Having heard the promises last year that lessons had been learned and improvement is around the corner, more promises just wont cut it.
The unity and truce found in the last few months of last season will be cast aside. If this window/start to the season is not just disastrous but seriously underwhelming, fan action will ramp up massively. It would be extremely unfair on Martin to foster the environment that would see his final ever campaign marred by disruptions and boycotts, depriving him of his special place and fully joyfull departure memories.
It need be thus, as well you know. Of course I hope we are getting our ducks in a row but I’ve been let down too many times holding onto that same hope. We did actually put in a bid, rejected as too little. The report said we bid 3.5m and they are firm on 4.3. Why did we not know? Couldn’t call? From a club that stood firm on Palma at 4.2 its cheeky and silly behavior.
I view Marcelo Scirrachi as a bit of a litmus test. At first I thought there’s no chance they will sanction two left backs on big wages but his reduced transfer fee changes the equation because our two million players are usually a punt, and there is now a path to profiting on the player when he leaves. They might swallow his wage demands easier but not only that its a no brainer to help Martin by signing a player who needs no introduction giving the gaffer more time to look elsewhere.
It’s said the manager wants him this week for a full preparation campaign, lets see if he gets his way, and access our urgency in the matter. This particular deal will give us a good insight into our world class workings.
Our title rivals working actually do look world class compared to ours.
The second placed team have 5 new faces ready for pre-season, strength in depth, and it looks like a Dutchman will get the hotseat meaning fast passing football. The new manager of the 3rd placed team wants to control the game from the middle of the park judging by his targetting of Ferguson. He’s clearly got 6 odd million to spend on a midfielder then. The 4th placed side went with a young manager also, the data was of the charts, he will have good knowledge and contacts in his home market and will have about ten million to spend extra when Just and Maswanise are sold. None of the above is good news. All those signs point to being if not challenged then left behind.
Shaun and Fozzie early, and a media deluge of Big Cam training again with a smile, alongside some words from the manager saying hes a big strong man and a very good option with good experience which he likes. The mainstream media saying we are closing in on someone while running an “about to get serious” narrative.
That’s my expectations for this week. One day the rapidly changing modern world will leave stale and stagnant Celtic in the dust, the more we stay the same, the sooner that day comes.
Our approach so far has been creating our own problems, what Brendan warned about.
Once again we are not bedding in players properly.
Once again we dice with CL qualification.
Once again it was all lip service and words without adjusting behind the scenes.
Without change there will come a day when a large number of the support say Im not supporting this regime once again. And every transfer window brings it closer.

St. Stivs,
I would like your take on my financial thoughts/strategy theory if you dont mind.
So I clicked that link and we had pulled in 60m from July1st 2025 to 31st December 2025.
From Jan1st 2026 we pulled in one extra EL home group game and some cup games, league and cup winners bonus.
Would you agree with about 100m turnover for the last financial year?
Since everyone is having a “hissy fit” tonight, does the lawyer from Toronto have anything good to say about Celtic? Maybe the Celtic Foundation is a good thing?
I’m off to cheer for my beloved Iraq.
Celger
not so much a hissy fit but a Fenian fuck fit
Agreed?
It was on a dreary New Year’s Day when the shades of night came down……I loved belting that out in my youth at Parkheid.
Mags…..agreed, I think!
BMCUWP
can we ask ASWGL if he can filter out the lickspittle posts? It’s becoming a bit creepy
Here’s my point,
We took in 60m last summer to December. Say 100m in total from July 1st 2025 to July 1st 2026.
Not only would that be a massive downturn and a show that Not Another Penny works.
They would need to counter those results to justify being in control.
100m from player sales.
70m from the CL.
The other income streams.
Thats about 200m turnover next financial year so they can tell the complainers this year that next years results will be groundbreaking and get out of jail selling everything now to silence shareholder unrest in the future.
Ps I also think/believe we are a shoe in alongside Bayern Munich to showcase New Trafford in a friendly come July 2027 and that will put more in the coffers.
Bobby may not agree but I see breaking the 200m revenue in a financial year as around the corner.
Hail Hail from paradise, 91 degrees and not a cloud in the sky, Sangria with ice just a small reach away
mahe.
fag packet earlier i guestimated 110m.
we are down 30m from cl to el.
and the merch is estimated to be down but not as much as people would claim. and even then sponsorship payments were going up
Saint, surely if we flog about 100m of players and get 70 for the CL we hit 200m total turnover next July?
The only reason I keep mentioning this is because thats probably how the business gurus are running us,,more coming in the door each year equals kerching in the boardroom and mega kerching if you sell as its not a distressed asset but a growing asset which many big investors look for.
Sorry to be a bore. Trying to look from all angles as knowledge is power as a wise man once said.
Hail Hail
Mahe,
If we sell players up to £100m we will have no team, finish out with the top six.
Oh, aye, the Shareholders will be happy with £200m turnover?
Is it not the Shareholders who are/were angry with not spending anything?
Next season will be some rainy day!
Not to mention CL Humpings😡
San Luis
non problem mate
I see right through you
mahe .
24/25 140m
25/26 110m
26/27 200m if we sell everybody and last 16 cl.
realistically 160m but beed to be in cl.
CaltonTongues,
You’re looking at it through a supporter perspective. And I don’t think youre incorporating expenditure.
I’m looking at this through a purely income chart/graph as most investors would (I do side investing and I have good results).
If a company, any company can grow in revenue year on year thats what you are looking for, a steady upward line on annual income and annual share price. Get in if you trust the people in charge to continue that trend.
Pump and dump springs to mind, 200m financial turnover next year if CL and the rumoured go on the rumoured fees. Blip forgotten and overlloked as just a blip by the big investor/potential buyer world. And imagine, just imagine, if the shotcaller could get ahead of the issue and blame the manager for the blip.
There’s games afoot and I keep a close eye on certain Financials also.
Hail Hail
Mahe,
I get your point re possible income.
But, sorry, I am a supporter, not Season Ticket or Shareholder.
If we sell £100m from this squad and don’t spend at least £150m then we’ll be playing Partick Thistle in the Play-Offs in front of 10k fans.
The Shareholders and Season Ticket holders won’t be happy.
We are a football team ⚽
In business the valuation is generally 5 times turnover equals the value of the operation.
These are the type of decisions being made.
Hence a 200m year turning us into a Billion dollar club.
What’s the word when you pay to fuck but you end up getting fucked ?
I think it’s a sacrament

Haaland 59 goals in 52 Norway games.
If only Scotland had a cutting edge, or a striker remotely as good.🙏
Mahe……business is not valued at 5 times turnover. 5 times EBITDA (earnings before taxes and depreciation) is more realistic. In the days of Michael Millken and junk bond financing, 11 times EBITDA was not unusual.
Posted it before, Norway can go far in this competition and they are good to watch.
France – Iraq hydration break was longest yet – 2 hours.
MIT, sorry for the late reply but you are completely correct.
If we still had Dom in, then I believe the stadium update would be on the cards by now.
I also believe the succession plan for players would probably be already in place, rather than the scattergun approach we employ each and every year.
Wee Sally Nugent on BBC Breakfast just absolutely rinsed Farage
BADABING
He’ll go crying to Poodlemedia.com, claiming bullying and victimisation.
So was the hydration break delayed because of a rainstorm?
Morning all,
It was Ernie ☔️
Canny be upsetting the advertisers by cancelling the hydration break. The good thing is that it has been universally condemned, so is unlikely to become a permanent fixture.
There’s no need for a hydration break in Scotland anyway. The players just need to sit in the front twenty or so rows at Celtic Park for one of them.
Have we sold anyone yet ?
St Tams,
Yes, Our soul 🥲
Will they be having ‘hydration breaks’ on cold Tuesday nights in Inverness?
Hydration breaks in air conditioned stadiums and torrential rain tells you that it’s all about the money. As such, football will happily gobble up the hands that feed. It’s coming, wether we like it ir not.
Norway concede too many goals to get beyond quarters.
Holland look the best dark horse from what I’ve seen.
Middlesbrough FC will travel to Glasgow next month for a pre-season friendly at Celtic Park.
It’s sure to be a lively occasion, with all the action kicking off at 3pm on Saturday, July 18 giving you a chance to see the Hoops in action just two weeks before they launch into the 26/27 season!
A week later, the Hoops will take on the Serie A giants, AC Milan, at Paradise on Saturday, July 25 at 3pm
Couldn’t pay me to watch a friendly against an English championship team.
SANLUIS
👏 👏 👏
SL- stopped giving them money for friendlies when they took them off ST
San Luis, you are probably correct about Norway giving up goals, but they are fun to watch. My “teams” (to cheer for) are now Scotland, Canada, USA, Japan and Norway. None of them can win this,
Celger
Yeah all good to watch for the entertainment value and also honest endeavour.
Been a decent tournament thus far.
“Hearts have found their man.
Wouter Vrancken. Near as makes no difference a done deal, with the appointment pencilled in for this week.”
Took them longer than expected 🤪🤪🤪
Bound to be an improvement while we fanny about doing who knows what.
Apologies for the negativity. I’ll go into hiding again as I find it hard to be a happy clapper as demanded by some on here😬😬😬
FRODSHAMBHOY
Oh, nonsense. Nobody on here demands happyclapping, the exact opposite is probably true.
We call it as it is on here. When the board deserve criticism, we give them it in spades. When they deserve credit, we give them it in spades too. Probably,I think. It’s been a while.

Bobby
I was having a laugh.
However, whilst you are in the majority you must admit there are a few on here that criticise people for stating what they see as the ugly truth about our performance on and off the pitch.
FRODSHAMBHOY
I know you were, just having a larf. But gave me the opportunity to repeat our unwritten mission statement, which is to always give credit where due.
And we will. If it ever happens.
Well, well, well. I occasionally dip into the other channel ( with the usual difficulties ) to see how the perennial happy clapping host is viewing the slow moving car wreck horror show at Celtic Park.
Scarcely credible, but he is getting twitchy. Apart from the ubiquitous dig at Brendan Rodgers ( I think it is now a paranoid obsession ) he expresses ‘concern’, and that ‘we are running out of road.’ And miracle of miracles, even the happiest clapper of all time, B78, acknowledges that perhaps Chairbhoy is correct this time re his negativity.
Things must be a lot worse than we thought.
A classic from Miami yesterday.

I see as things stand Scotland currently are 2nd of the 3rd place teams with 8 of the 12 qualifying.
Why do I think that ultra cautious Clarke will be ultra cautious and try and keep the score down against Brazil,
I can’t see us adding to our two tournament shots on target so far
