And we’re back!
Tonight the world famous Glasgow Celtic burst back into action in an attempt to retain the SPL trophy for the 6th time in a row.

The league started pretty much as it ended, Hearts and R2ngers unable to claim the 3 points, Derek fuming as usual, and Motherwell looking like a damn good footballing side again.
Are the Champions ready?
For a one-off game, probably.
For a season challenging on 4 fronts, nowhere near ready enough.
We all know who to blame but I do agree with the quality over quantity approach thats evident in the two we bought and those “we are trying” to buy. As complaining won’t help I’ll just move on from transfers and onto the game itself.
A starved of action support will turn out in maximum numbers primarily to see goals from our two new strikers. Whether they are paired together, how exactly they set up, is the question on everyone’s lips that is about to be answered. It will be a full house because of one of most anticipated debuts in my lifetime, we all want to see Hogh in the Hoops and if that swagger transcends onto the pitch. A couple of good goals or dare I say a hat-trick and we will genuinely start dreaming of another Treble and/or European impact spearheaded by the big viking who looks set to dominate defenses home and abroad. Having a proper forward gives us all reassurance, two gives us big ambitions, I sincerely hope tonight is the start of a successful partnership.
Our odds of victory are surely improved with AJ and Engels in the side, two players who whilst teammates today who ironically will probably face each other as rivals in England’s top flight next season. This might be the last time we each either as a Celtic player, savour it as much as you can.
Formation wise I do believe we will see another 4-3-3, if for no other reason that to get AJ and Arne into the team, and allow Duran and Kasper in the same side. That would obviously mean Duran on one of the flanks, but I imagine him coming inside a lot rather than a pure winger. I’ve been wondering if Nygren could benefit from them both meaning could he exploit the extra attention both are sure to receive, slip through the gaps so to speak, and do even more damage as the defense are occupied with our new dynamic duo? It’s not beyond the realms of possibility that he actually benefits by fielding them, by attention being elsewhere.
Theres several “side quests” that are begging to be solved when you think about it.
Could Osmond go left and Duran right giving us three pure strikers on the field at once? He did exactly that with Sutton, Hartson, Henrik.
Could Hatton get minutes? It wouldn’t be a positive going forward if a youth player looking good is just bombed out when the season starts properly, I think he should be given some minutes from here on in order to improve.
Might Tonetki or Yang improve if they have a big targetman to aim for?
Will our setpiece plays look different now we have a specialist coach in that area?
Is CCV still the same player?
Will Reo be given his last minutes on the hallowed turf in order to give a proper goodbye?
Will Arne and AJ do a lap of honour signaling their departure?
Our family season books where in the Jock Stein stand and apparently its got spruced up over the summer, will that be noticable?
There’s no doubt about it, tonight begins a captivating journey, possibly Martin’s last journey with us. We will look different when the window closes but I for one wish to see a statement performance from those selected, a game to strike fear into Scotland and help get the ball rolling for a positive outcome in the CL qualifier.
I have no doubt the manager wishes the same.
Blow them away Celtic, set fire to the fuse of ambition, lets go on the marching again let both parties inspire each other.
Lets make it another special season that just like last year will live long in the memory.
Up the Hoops

Not even a glimmer of production from corners.
No clue what we are trying to do.
Yang struggling to get the shot away.
Our midfield is wide open.
Not one shot on target by either team.
Not seen any improvements from last season. Same old shite so far
This is about as exciting as cold porridge.
Engels bad miss from free header.
Iniquitous
Sinisalo saved a header which was on target
Simply dreadful from Engels. Blooters it out of play under no pressure.
Nygren the touch of an elephant with a beach ball.
Simply basic stuff we can’t do.
You beat interior teams by moving the ball faster. Taking 3 touches and 2 would do
Midfield still our issue.
Poor defensively and only Nygren capable of forward pass
Best move so far. Great shot by Tierney, well saved.

Aye, but you could have stepped out the crowd and caught it.🤣
Great play by Engels to set up KT but keeper saves well.
The swashbuckle getting kept for second half when we’re shooting into the Celtic end.
Slack marking at throw in leads to Dundee corner.
All very uninspiring so far. Need to sharpen up our ideas.
Yang has worked very hard but his control of the ball has been poor
Poor stuff so far . Continue like that and its going to be a long season .
Pretty underwhelming so far. Couple of moments where it looked like we might score, but not often enough.
We’re still not properly attacking corners. We are still too statuesque. Mix it up a bit too. Years ago we would chop it to the front post for Aitk n to glance it into the head of McDonald, McAdam.
Martin will work his magic.
Not exactly awe inspiring. In fact I’d go as far as saying almost as shit as Der Hun on Friday. New new man looks lost and new man would be as well sitting beside me in the pub.
Rocket up jacksy time from MoN!
As usual it’ll need to be Jamesie to the rescue.
How can these teams play so well defensively but, enter Europe and they’re torn apart?
Not just Dundde but everyone that turns up at CP.
HH
If Everton fans are unhappy at the potential arrival of AJ the West Ham fans must be shiting themselves at the thought of blowing £25m on Engels. He looks like a £5m player-just!
Faster Celtic.
Up the pace …right from the off!
Let’s put that half down to ring rustiness. Need more pace in second half. Perhaps Duran and Hogh could switch positions frequently. Duran looks wasted on the wing.
Definite concerns with defence from high balls.
Engels looks like he is playing at half cock…is he out the door? Yang is wearing the wrong boots.
We shall step it up in the second half,
Rebus
We’ll do what Celtic do, win
BAD,
Hope yer right.

We can’t cope with a high press. The worry is we clearly don’t want to. Same as last season. The only thing that gets us passed it is the collapse of the press late second half by the opposition. Teams like Roma, Stuttgart and LASK don’t have that issue. It’s a coaching and tactical issue.
Anyone thinking that LASK are not going to go toe to toe with us over both legs is dreaming and living in the past. If anything we should be devising some kind of plan.
1-0 Nygren
Nygren
Yessssss, Nygren
Terrific cross from KT, header for Nygren, who made it look easy.
Hey kids shake it loose together
The spotlight’s hittin’ something that’s been known to change the weather
We’ll kill the fatted calf tonight so stick around
You’re gonna hear electric music solid walls of sound
Say Candy and Ronnie have you seen them yet?
Woo
But they’re so spaced out
More like it.
Faster.
No hesitation and it clicks
Champs are back at it.
Carpet slippers showing what we’ve missed in the middle
What a strange player Nygren is.
Almost totally invisible, but with the happy knack of turning up at the right place at the right moment. 😊
Now let’s score from a corner.
Duran should stay in the middle.
Nice turn in the box from Duran.
As soon as we do things a little quicker, these teams struggle to live with us.
Ref gives fk for nothing
Nobody looking for the ball off KT’s throw.
Yang works hard.
No obvious change to corner tactics.
Høgh disnae seem to be the fastest forward we’ve ever had.
Engels hits a good corner, it’s more to do with how we set up , plus our lack of attacking intent.
Got a lovely first touch Duran
I don’t think Nygren is a strange player.
Has vision, timing and can shoot .
Not a tackler though.
I think he is a very good modern footballer playing in an old fashioned team.
Big CV just a fantastic player to have.
Wish we had another few as good.
