Give Us A Break!
Morning, all.
Tonight is a big night for us, and no mistake. We take a three goal lead to Austria to face their champions, LASK Linz. I mention that they are champions to remind us all that this is no diddy team we are facing, but we already know that from the first leg last week.
We scored three wonderful goals, but they could have taken the lead after only a few seconds with an absolute screamer of their own. It was far from the only time they caused us concern, including another goal, like that one correctly chalked off for offside. I wouldn’t go as far as their coach did after the game and say that they were the better side, but we could hardly have grumbled had our advantage been less than three.
There seems to be a school of thought amongst our fans that while this tie isn’t over, another goal from us should kill it. Well, if there is a genuine concern that they can score three, perhaps we should also be worried that they can score four-and the reported absence from training of Trusty does little to allay those fears! I well remember our run to Seville when we took a two goal lead to Stuttgart and quickly scored another two. That four goal advantage should have had us on easy street, but we lost three goals and were hanging on grimly at the end.
It’s football, and we all know that there are no certainties!
I expect that the management team will go with the same starting XI as last week, though we may be forced to call on Scales as a replacement for Trusty. We will have to be ready for a full-on onslaught right from the off, and that means our midfield will have to work overtime, while our attacking line will be our first line of defence. It won’t be a night for passengers, that’s for sure. It will take 100% commitment and 100% concentration, and all the while being on the lookout for a chance at a break.
That said, and having given myself the fear even writing this short article, I’m looking forward to the game. We would have been delighted a week ago at the position we are in now, and if I’m honest, I’ll settle for any result which sees us in the group stages of the top competition. I don’t care if tonight is another classic, one which we will be talking about for years to come, or an updated version of The Great Escape. Just as long as it has a happier ending. So you’ll pardon me if I don’t say-“Good luck!”

Cannae watch anymore, nerves shredded.
I don’t even like European fitba 😁
HH
Jeez, too close for comfort from corner.
And then off the post.
Yes!!!!!!!
CalMac from edge of box, assist by Yang on break.
Yesssss, Calmac
GET IN THERE
Nice OG thanks mate
Even witha 3 goal lead, it was a nervy start. from both teams. But that should settle things
Høgh close after bad pass in defence.
Høgh is such an asset for the high ball up front.
Keeper makes a pretty unintentional good save, didn’t know much about it lucky he didn’t get it in the coupon
Still cannae watch but, would like Hogh to score wearing the Hoops.
HH
Dirty bastard nails Donovan. Should be red
Doesn’t even get booked FFS is Dallas in the stand?
Ffs we gift an equaliser, poor by Nygren.
Absolutely disgraceful defending, Nygren with his best assist of the season for equaliser.
Unbelievably shite from us utter schoolboy stuff
MON fuming
Just get to ht and regroup.
HT, 1-1. Both sides are their own worst enemies.
Duran has been pretty quiet, I might try Hassan on that wing as he holds the ball well.
Our fast passing game is being affected by the length of the grass, which seems to be very long. Yang has found it hard to run with the ball as it keeps getting held up in the grass.
We should be out of sight here.
Poor decision making in final 3rd
Thought we might have scored first. Celtic ALWAYS score!
Mon the Hoops!! 🍀
HH
Celtic look technically the better team, interesting to see if Fan agrees, his knowledge on that feature is much better than me!
There was a passage of play just before half time where about 6 of our players could have got a shot away and none of them did. Shoot on sight.
We’re trying not to commit too many forward at the same time, but there’s more goals there if we want them
HH
McGregor having a very good game.
Donovan not close enough so they have had too many crosses from his side.
Nygren with a brain fart.
Hogh leading line well.
KT much improved from first leg.
Our forward passing and movement is good but we still too often play the lazy/easy backwards passing
This team will concede goals we just need to be more assertive
Callum controlling things
Trum DOJ now saying the Kennedy Centre is unsafe and might need to be demolished. They would rather demolish the building than admit they damaged the facade when illegally putting Trump’s name on it🤯
SOLKITTS
I thought there was recent directive about the length of the grass.
Fuxake. Great goal, shot from edge of box.
Ffs, Trusty as weak as water, and they cut in and score.
What a strange few games. Both teams are getting chances, and LASK will wonder hw they are down 4-1. If the score were to properly reflect the game, it might be 5-6, or 4-7 or something like that.
But, the only two targets for this season that matter:
And they are half way to accomplishing that.
Everything else is secondary. By some distance.
But if Celtc wish to do something in the CL this season, that midfield needs changed. Better teams will punish Celtic if given that much space to run through.
Damn near another one too.
We need to settle down and get a fkn grip
Keeper poor there for me. Sees it a long way out. Fresh legs please.
Games like this would make you wish for the olden days when away goals counted for double!
Trusty ‘ragdolled’ for the billionth time.
3-1. What are we bloody doing?
Good grief. Great finish from 30 yards.
3-1 in the defensive midfield position again. Had a chance to sort it and didn’t.
Donavan, CCV, Trusty WTAF?
Proverbial squeaky bum time!
Should have had subs on 10 minutes ago
Ref giving them everything now
Get Ralston on FFS
With the CL money on the line, maybe the biggest 30 minutes of the season coming up
We’re second to everything now
