I’m Pissed Off With Being Pissed Off
Morning, all.
There’s quite a bit to cover today after yesterday’s events, almost all of which happened to Celtic without us taking any active part. The one that we knew about in advance was the draw for the Europa League. It wasn’t particularly kind to us, but could have been worse. We don’t face any arduous trips to the other side of the planet, for starters. And there’s every chance of us making the post-group matches. Not much chance though of doing so without that qualifying round first for the round of sixteen.
Hot on the heels of the draw being revealed, we had the outcome of the SFA disciplinary process regarding our cup game at Ibrox in March. Quite incredibly-but not, in hindsight-surprisingly, they decided to treat both defendants as equally guilty. That means that they viewed an outpouring of joy and celebration, confined to a couple of dozen fans celebrating a win with the players, as being the same as the hundreds of hun hordes who invaded the pitch with only one thought in mind-to inflict damage on the away support. Both teams were told that their next home Scottish cup tie will be played behind closed doors, with a £100,000 compensation fee awarded to the other side.
My own thoughts on this are that the club-who vigorously protested the punishment in their response-will appeal this. Personally, I think they may be on to plums. There is no moral high ground when your fans have invaded the pitch, no matter the cause. We may not like that, but that’s likely to be how it is argued. Countermeasures like telling them to stuff their cup competition aren’t likely to even be considered. Not with our board who treat every penny as a prisoner.
The bad news kept coming too, with our Ibrox chums using the above as the perfect reason to cut our League Cup allocation to a risible 300. And no, I didn’t leave out a zero. 300 tickets barely covers the allocation for directors and other staff-I wonder how many we can fit in the dugout?-so the public sale will be somewhat limited. There are no rules on ticket allocations in the competition, so we don’t have a leg to stand on here. And we provided a rod for our own backs bin the form of previous pitch invasions, gleefully referenced by Der Hun. They might have failed miserably in their attempt to gain that moral high ground I mentioned, but they managed to move the narrative away from their woeful exit from Europe the previous night.
We, of course, are still getting it in the neck for our capitulation on Tuesday. Rightly so, I might add. MON didn’t try very hard to defend the indefensible, but the hacks were like a pack of rabid dogs. If it wasn’t the game itself, they wanted to know how it might affect our planned moves in the transfer market. Martin game fully said that he hoped it wouldn’t have an effect, but the three top candidates beforehand-Mahmic, Gineitis, and Sugur-look to have decided that they will be better served elsewhere. That’s their decision, though it probably serves our board well too. Our latest target is a 19yo Dutch guy with about the same experience as McArdle. And I’m not too pleased either with our lack of cover elsewhere, particularly in goal and at left back.
Still, today will hopefully allow us to forget about the above for a couple of hours at least. CalMac might miss the game due to a stomach bug, an avoidable malady caused no doubt by being stuck on a plane with Trusty, who had the same on the flight to Austria. I’d be surprised if CCV makes it, and the same goes for Høgh. This should give us a chance to see the lesser-spotted Osmand, at least for some of the game. Scales should start, but I have no idea who will replace our captain. That’s what happens when you lose our two most energetic midfielders without replacing them. And today is, I believe, the start of a run of weekend and midweek games all the way through to the first international break.
The board still have a couple of days left to get some bodies in to relieve the pressure on everyone, but hitting an injury problem so early in the season doesn’t bode well for the long arduous months to come. It is obvious that our squad is massively below the quality required, but for it to be massively short in quantity as well is a disgrace.
But, knowing our board, they will look at the drop in numbers of the playing staff and…fire somebody in payroll for being surplus to requirements. Not so many wages to be calculated, you see.
Everything that has happened this week has mightily pissed me off, as you may have noticed. I’ll still be pissed off tomorrow, amd probably for a while to come. But at least for those couple of hours this afternoon, I’m hoping to have something to cheer about.
Wouldn’t it be nice?

Falkirk almost score from a man all alone just outside our box.
We break great ball by KT, Duran with tap in 😁😁
John McGlynn dressed like he is ready to jump in the car right after the game and head out to the beach for a holiday.

Am i the only one who is thinking Baur looks like Reo?
————————
If he starts passing to the opposition in risky situations, I’ll offer an opinion.🤣
I was sitting here thinking (aye right) about Celtic European embarassments and to be honest we really are spoiled for choice.
Some are so embarassing that as a club they are not even discussed. My personal top 5:
These are just some random, but significant events, without having to think about things too much. Completely unprofessional in our approach throughout our history, unfortunately.
Great turn by Duran
Celtic TV: ‘another goal before half time and a 3 goal lead and I think the points will be secure’ …really!? After giving up a 4 goal lead more than half way through the last match? Why tempt fate?
Hearts 2 St. Johnstone 0
Kilmarnock 0 Dundee Utd. 2
Early on, but Duran is looking like Player of the Year candidate

Hi Gerry:
Doesn’t have a great deal of competition so far.🤣
HH
INIQUITOUS IV😊
Will Ferry makes it Dundee Utd 3 Kilmarnock 0 with a belter of a goal.
This guy is a good full back. He would be great cover for KT. This shuttling over to Scales when KT leaves the field is a piece of nonsense.
INIQ. Very true Duran doesn’t have much competition, but he does have a skill set that we don’t see a lot of in Scottish football.
Pretty much in control, but still too lackadaisical and failing to go for the throat.

Had to laugh at that.
Was about 33 minutes in so would be about 60 minutes to hold a 3 goal lead.
Talk about short memories.
Elversberg 3 Bayer Leverkusen 0
Newcomers making a great start.
I used to relax a little when we went 3 up if we were playing a dangerous team.
Now I think that number will be 5.🤣
Dubaibhoy,
I think Liverpool emulated our first round exist as defending champions – Martin and Notts Forest if my memory serves.
One result that really was a sickener, at the time, was Nauchatel Xamax. We just weren’t at the races that night!
Wasn’t expecting anything spectacular today, I just wanted to get this one done with the 3pts safely gathered.
Comfortable till now.
BAD,
One leeetle difference. Forest won the Cup that year. Has anybody ever heard of Dynamo Kiev since?
Hat trick from 6’3” center Ebnoutalib puts Eintracht 3-1 up at Union Berlin.
Hearts 2 St. Johnstone 1
CCV slow as molasses.
Mike,
I noticed how alike Buar and Reo are. Not only do they look the same , as you pointed out, they also move the same while in possession of the ball.
Here’s hoping Baur turns out to be as good a player as the wee man ..
HH 🍀
CCV very lax last twice.
DB,
That was a time when I would never miss a chance to watch the European cup, as I loved watching that Liverpool team playing in Europe. When their time came Forest were pretty special too.

Defence struggling again
Yet more Déjà vu
That’s nearly a week’s wages for Donovan to buy a new pair of boots.
That’s what happens when you buy your boots out of sports direct.
Well, the boy is only getting a few hundred quid a week!
Second best this half so far.
Need another for comort here
Still not placing a man at the edge of the box!!
2nd half possession stats would be interesting
MIT,
I said this to Mahe in the early hours this morning (2:35) . Baur is a Hatate clone. Just hope he doesn’t have the same wayward passing in his game.
We have to remember this is essentially a bottom of the league Falkirk B team.
A line up like today’s would simply be annihilated by Benfica. We have 3 days to strengthen the team, and I now have precious little hope we will even try.
Scales has played 3 terrific passes
2 of them cushioned passes to team mates when in trouble
Second half has been poor, I dread to think what woulf happen if Falkirk were to score.
Farcical we have to rejig the back 4 every time KT leaves, and not even replace him with a full back.
Osmand getting his chance 👏 👏 👏 👏 🙏 🙏 🙏
Osmand is going to be a great player
bluegrass
great minds, i guess?
i always liked Reo. He made mistakes for sure, but i dont mind a few missed passes, if they are at least trying to be positive. And i always criticize the midfielders for being too negative, so i have to take the good with the bad, i suppose.
Useless feckers!
2-1
Ffs!!
My dread begins. As sure as night follows day , with this Celtic team.
Watch Scales. A tortoise moves faster.
Donovan not got the brains to play him off!
Wouldn’t say that goal has been coming, but we got what we deserved for being complacent.
Great ball by Scales, unfortunately Yang met it.
Nygren useless corner. Can’t get it over a man 10 yards away.
Amateurish.
FFS…Nygren
A tap in for Baur there
Nygren greedy bassa, wastes chance.
