Grabbing players and points

It’s a big day for the PLC.
By 11pm tonight they must have satisfied off the pitch and on it as any dropped points are automatically going to be laid at their door.

Due of course by days like the last few days and especially today as that European squad needs faxed to Nyon late in the day. The alledged names have come thick and fast, as usual I might add at this time of the year. One is confirmed, several are juggling and if I had to guess I think today will see a triple whammy of signings unveiled with a further one on the Thursday, probably a keeper to be registered for Europe in the next window. One signing was unveiled, and the midfield gets a bit stronger. I love this signing, love signing Scandinavians as they not only dont mind the weather but really give their best, for better or worse, they approach the actual 90 minutes wholeheartedly in my opinion, fully committed.

And to be honest I’m not Italian footballs biggest fan with a real emphasis on defense, holding shape, set pieces etc. Thats why they fell off in my eyes. Sorenson would have been challenging for silverware infront of a smaller but passionate crowd in Midtyland. That a much faded Parma’s bench and no trophies has him ready for a change doesn’t surprise me in the slightest and he can gladly join our Scandinavian clique, which worked well last time under Wim.
What isn’t there to like about this deal especially with the try before you buy option?

If I were King I would have a strict rule of two outfield loans without an option to buy maximum, and they are cover at that. I dont mind a keeper on a no option loan, cover not profit is the most important thing for that particular position. The Chelsea kid(s) won’t have an option thats for sure.

Today will be a day of chaos, rumour, and possibly excitement as we get tooled up to fight on four fronts. It would really be nice if we also excited on the pitch by our slim pickings current squad. I’m glad this is a home tie, wouldn’t have fancied travelling with such paucity. Two spaces opened up on the bench, Kenny (leaving) and Osmond (injured) and thats alongside four missing starters (Jota, Hogh, KT, AJ) and questionmarks whether the Captain is okay to play? It looks like fortunate timing that we were forced to stock up through the deadlines. We need the numbers.

3 points and 3 players would be a bit of good business and generally help raise the spirits although it will not stop some rightfully asking the question why didnt you do this earlier? As far as actual purchases go, I agree for instance there was no World Cup holding Van Der Berg back. However I just accept this board goes hunting for ‘cover’ loans very late and tbh it no longer raises an eyebrow here.

Our buys have been spot on so far, I can only hope the rest will be the same.

Zero threat from innumerable corners.

Vaguely unsatisfying not scoring in the second half.

Maybe I’m too greedy?😊

Still work to do but a lot to like about that performance.

Would like to see Callum replaced at times to give others more game time. I’m sure some rest would help him as well.

Tounetki, Yang and, dare I say Hassan, all very poor final balls.
Hassan does have an assist though, Yang a goal …but Tounetki is rotten.

Happy enough with that.

Flipping back and forth between the two games tonight … minsu looks decent for the zombies …. But their defence is shaky … error prone … Falkirk should have had a few … and midfield duo of Raskin and Devlin is way too negative …. As i type thism Shankland scores … he will get them a fair few points this season

September 2, 2026 9:42 pm

No doubt Robinson will be delighted that they drew 0-0 in the 2nd half😁

Tounetki looks like a player short of confidence …

knock on Hassan from Oviedo fans was lots of tricks, but not a lot of end product … get him to work on his shooting … he is good enough to score a few in the SPL

to be fair, it was a good striker’s finish by Shankland. And you get the same 3 points for beating Falkirk as any other team.

Thought Celtic looked more fluid earlier in the game with AOC more involved in the build up.

So does anybody think that King Kenny was at the game because he just wanted to watch Celtic? Liverpool need 2 full backs and goalscorers. I’d guess he was checking out Nygren + Duran for next window. Donovan?

San Luis…..I thought Hassan put in some excellent crosses in the first half. Høgh would have loved them.
Still early days and players still getting to know each other, but looks more positive than same time last year.

“I don’t care what it is he gets, gonny just get him tae fuck”

I think it’d be fair to say McInnes has already lost the Hun support.

That’s a real shame.

Magua,

That’s got to be the fastest anyone has ever lost the support. 🤣

If this is what they’re saying after winning, what they gonna be like when they drop points again?

The Huns,, only ever a draw away from full blown, sack everyone, I’m done with this, crisis

Funny stuff.

Lots to like about that performance. Duran is the real deal. The high press worked in the first half. Passing was quicker. Both wingers had a good half. Forrest still has it for 20-30 minutes.

Sorenson played himself slowly into the squad. Let’s see more. Mheuka did not look out of place. Let’s see more.

Despite, perhaps because of, the churn Celtic played as a team, especially mid to front. Donovan, although KamaKase at times, played well. Everybody played well!

It is still too easy to move the ball through our midfield and the chance to sign a ball winner seems to have gone. For me that is the only negative.Oh, one more! Sinisalo needs to command his box much better.

I do not share the view that the dons are a bad team. Their problem is that there is no cutting edge, otherwise they move the ball well.

A good victory against a potential banana skin team.

I can see Sinisalo getting replaced soon. if big Sam can command his box with a bit more authority, the place is up for grabs imo.

I don’t think our young keeper fills the goal the way some of our former keepers did. You want your keeper to be loud and a bit mad. Mostly you want them to dominate that area.

Apparently Sevco have signed the Portland striker. I know FSR doesnt really matter in Scotland, but, even from a solvency perspective, how can they afford their spend without European money? They spent 35 million or so last season, and another fair wedge this season… and the prospect of European money is dwindling more and more every season …. does not seem sustainable

CONFIRMED: Celtic have signed PSV Eindhoven midfielder Joel van den Berg in a deal worth up to £3.4m.

It’s understood the Hoops will pay an initial fee of £2.9m, with £500,000 in add-ons.

The Netherlands U19 international has penned a four-year contract, with Celtic having the option to extend by a further year.

Hoops boss Martin O’Neill told @SkySports tonight that he thought the deal might only go through tomorrow, but the Scottish champions have managed to get it over the line in time for tonight’s #UEL deadline.

Van the Man, another decent striker, a proven midfielder, cover at the fullback, and a goalie. Probably another tomorrow.
Squad is looking refreshed indeed.

Ralston, KT, Cal, Murray and Forrest. Missing from that list.

Though AJ, KT,Jota, Hogh,Osmond all currently injured. CCV will be missing in 40% of games.

I think , for the number of games coming up the squad is fine. There’s enough quality in there to compete on 3 fronts till January.

Come January, depending on appearances , things could well change, but let’s assume we keep everyone happy, then
