Singing In The Rain
Morning, all.
It’s the last day of the Scottish transfer window today, and while it seems to have stretched on interminably, that is never long enough for our club to do the business required by the manager and the fans. I’ll start to deal with that mess and where we go from here tomorrow. For now, I’ll settle for discussing our latest match.
Aberdeen were the visitors, and their manager must be sorely disappointed in them. I don’t think they put in a single nasty challenge all night! After the visit from Falkirk at the weekend, another team who try to play the game the right way, it’s like a whole new ball game for us. Suddenly we aren’t having to jump out of the way of an assault any time we collect the ball, but I’m sure that normal service will be resumed when TFOD visit in just over two weeks.
We got to see some of our latest signings too as Mheuka and Sørensen made debuts from the bench. The former, an 18yo from Chelsea, looks a real handful, and I reckon we will be talking about this lad a lot over the coming months. The latter looks quite handy, a useful addition to the engine room. Pity they’re both on loan!
We started off on the front foot, Hassan in particular setting the scene for his evening by getting the first cross in after only two minutes. Our first corner arrived shortly afterwards, and the visitors already knew they were in for a hard shift. Made harder still on the quarter hour mark, when Nygren shifted the ball to Duran on the D. A shimmy to make space for the shot was all he needed as he blasted the ball past the keeper. Hit almost as hard as his screamer two weeks ago, and there is little doubt that we have a player on our hands.
We didn’t rest on our laurels, Nygren having a shot saved almost from the restart and Yang putting in a dangerous ball which Hassan couldn’t quite convert. Duran saw another effort saved, before Nygren scored his customary goal against the Dons. Another Hassan cross saw the ball break for him to fire home from 15 yards.
Aberdeen made a rare foray up the pitch just on half time, hitting the bar from a corner, but Donovan slipped the loose ball clear to Duran who quickly fed Yang to break clear. He slotted home from the edge of the area to put us on a solid footing for the second half.
Again, we started brightly with Hassan firing one over the bar from the restart. But we couldn’t keep up the momentum from the first half. This may have had something to do with the four HT subs made by Robinson to tighten things up. We created chances, forced plenty of corners, but it was only in the last fifteen minutes that we began to look dangerous again, with shots peppering the goal from Mheuka (Shim The Tim!), Baur, Forrest and Scales.
It was a comfortable enough win, and a good performance. No complaints from me. Well, maybe one. MIB Nicholson, who did his level best to reinterpret the advantage rule to his own meaning. Another ref who lets us know what we can expect the minute he sets foot on the pitch. Willie Collum will have his work cut out with him in future.
Onto St Mirren on Saturday, an 8pm kick off, our 100% record still intact. Smashing.

Awe naw,
I don’t know if others have tried with your link from 12.20 but I’m just getting a blank screen when I open it.
No biggy.
Superb goal by Hearts. Left winger McPake with a great run, then Wilson finishes cut back.
Hibs 0 Hearts 1
7 players sold
6 players purchased
6 loans ended
4 new incoming loans undertaken
1 player retired
1 player given a free transfer
1 contract not extended
4 newly put out on loans
20 players moved out . 10 brought in. Crazy we haven’t bought a left back though.
Not watching the Edinburgh Derby, but Hearts have way too much firepower for Hibs to cope with.
St,Tams, 7.13
You couldn’t be more right.
Big Jock built a team good enough to compete with great teams like Milan, Benfica and Ajax, which then meant we were way too strong for the Huns to compete with.
No coincidence, then, that we basically played the Huns off the park for a decade +, and it’s worth noting that these Hun teams were among the best teams they ever had.
Dermot Desmond and the board don’t even want to kid on they have any ambition re European football, cause they think we’d want them to spend far more on players, which would mean paying players way more money ..well, more than £900 a week .ffs!
They’ll be forever remembered as the board that ruined our European standing. Any fear the smaller clubs may have felt on being drawn against us is now gone.
Frenetic first 20 minutes at Easter Road. Some nice football from both sides, but Hearts look very dangerous up front.
The only consolidation I can give Hibs is…Killie & the 🐑 are more shite than they are!
Hearts playing 4-4-2 with Wilson and Braga up front and Miller and McPake the wide midfielders. Hanley really struggling with the pace of these 4.
Heaets, sans McKlopp, Devlin, Shankland and Kyziridis, look a far better team than last season.
Braga almost with a second.
BAD,
When I cut and paste the link into a broswer. I don’t have a problem. Have you tried that. Select and Copy the link and then paste it into a browser. That should work
So is the 20m profit in this transfer window to cover us not getting into the CL. ?
Hibs fans booing the team, that’ll work.
Hibs have to get to half time without losing another. They have been very poor.
Mini’s look too strong 😡
BAD
Sense as usual from yourself @5.14.
Scales is not a left back but I’ve seen worse left backs in the hoops.
Trusty some bad mistakes but got away with them.
Was having dark thoughts about Nygren not being involved and he scores…
similar thought when Donovan launched it up the wing which led to the third !
Others as you rightly say, crowd, GB and Bhoys good on a dreich night.
Think I saw Nicholson last season and he was as poor then as he was last night.
Keep fighting the good fight mate.
This is a cracking game of football.
To be fair, the Edinburgh derby usually is good
Hearts 2-0 after soaking up some pressure.
Superb Mendy header from free kick.
2-0 mini’s from fk set play.
Stupid fk given away by Devaney.
St tams. Thanks 👍
JC,
No. Due to Sevco being a money laundering front with institutional connivance. It’s imperative that we post a profit. Preferably more profit than Rangers post losses. Year on year. Otherwise we lose the upperhand.
Steve,
Cheers.
I think we’re going to be entertained this season. Are you not entertained? 😉
Apart from the glaring need for a DM who can tackle, I don’t have a lot of things I’m unhappy with re the team. I’d have like an experienced CB, but that might’ve required spending a few coppers …we can’t be having that spending malarkey!
Yeah, I think it’s going to be an enjoyable campaign, at least in Europe.
HH 🍀
Watching Teuchter Derby on Firestick.
UK Premier Sport 1 & 2 don’t work so, Premier Sport 1 IRE has great picture plus Irish Adverts during half time 😁
HH
Hearts look disciplined and coached properly.
Hibs look a little confused and really struggle with the press.
A game between a football team against an opponent with 11 players.
Awe naw,
Thanks ..that actually works for me too.
A cupla fings.
Don’t you think it’s incredulous that the Huns believe the Americans are here purely out the goodness of their hearts? They still believe guys like this are interested in them because of their name.
And what is the end game for the Americans? Are they just looking to be here a couple of seasons and make the consortium a large return on their shares?
I wonder if the Huns even have to be successful for them to make money and go.Will be interesting to find out how big a blow, in financial terms, the European adventure never getting past the start gate is.
Cheers.
Cracking goal by Mayor for Hibs.
Fantastic rocket goal from Mayor. Almost Duran-like. 😊
Hibs 1 Hearts 2
Braga’s a wee diving bassa.🤬
Great goal for Hibs, Tierney esq.
Great goal by Mayor for Hibs ]2-1
As per for a derby, the game has totally turned.
One way traffic now as Hibs look for a leveller
Europa opponent Celta Vigo 0-0 at HT away to Real Sociedad.
Starfelt on the bench.
Mayor with easier chance balloons it.
Mulligan playing well in midfield for Hibs.
Could we have taken a Mulligan?🤣
Mayor should have equalised.
Blasts over bar with goal wide open
Chiawa has made a difference since coming on.
Hearts defence quite slow.
I’d like Hearts to Hibs it.
For all it would have cost us, I’d have definitely been interested in Mulligan and Ferry.
Hibs down to 10, 2nd yellow for Iredale.
Hibs down to 10. Idiot.
Lackadaisical yellow means red and the game turns again
Hibs hibsing it again.
Iredale 2nd yellow after woeful play at the back😡
Iredale second yellow so off.
Was dump and casual first with a bad pass then reckless high boot.
1-3. Hibs defence stood and watched as McPake ran right through them.
3-1 Mini’s, good goal.
Cupla deflections right enough.
Balikwisha and Yamada start for OH Leuven at Gent in one of the weakest front 3’s you will ever see. Down 0-1. Yamada subbed.
Brilliant run and goal by McPake.
3-1 he looks a good signing.
Though his direct opponent Paaslack is truly awful.
Ex St Johnstone winger McPake will give any of our right backs a few problems on current form. Looks leagues better than Tounekti.
Spittal should have had a yellow for deliberate hand ball.
Foul given but no card
BAD,
As I posted before the SF49ers consortium partly consists of Cavenagh,Marathe,York (he of prossie in trailer park fame) and Schneur and 5 secret shareholders
Cavenagh’s role is the new naive benevolent chairman.
Marathe and Schneur provides the false illusion that somehow Leeds are part of this setup. They’re not they’re completely separate. York provides the illusion that SF49ers are intricately involved to maintain the illusion. The other investors in the Rangers consortium the investors who can’t be named are former Rangers directors I posit.
It’s interesting that the Leeds SF49ers Delaware consortium has 60 high profile extremely well publicized public investors. Known Hollywood actors, sportsman celebrities etc. No secrecy towards Leeds Utd. fans. They also bought out completely the former Leeds board including loans and any floating charges.
Not so with the SF49ers Rangers. Only 5 private investors and this consortium didn’t completely buy out the old directors or there loans. They still own 49%. In fact they are still paying their loans off. In fact Bennett and Macquarie Bank still hold securities against future transfer revenues and Edimnston house.
So far the SF49ers consortium has spent £20m and not only got shares in return some of the old director loans have also been paid off. Same scenario again with this summers £16m share issue. So the old directors who provided the majority of their 51% shareholding for free are still being well looked after
Balikwisha’s and Yamada’s new team are 17th, second bottom and in relegation place with 0 points from first 4 games. Basically, Kilmarnock-like.
Hibs goal disallowed for feck knows?
Ref hadn’t blown till after ball was in the net.
Replay showed no offside. Weird?
Would have made for interesting end to game.
Hearts up to 3rd.
*SENTINEL CELTS PLAYER OF THE YEAR 2025-26*
*RESULTS FROM GAME #7 CELTIC 3 ABERDEEN 0 (DURAN, NYGREN, YANG)*
Good evening, friends.
I’m starting, yet again, with an apology. Whenever folk nominate the same 3 players as me, I do try to send a personal reply with additional comments on what those players brought to the game. Fat fingers and a mistakenly hit delete button meant that I failed to properly note the handful of folk who had the same 3 picks as me, so no personal emails went to those clever clogs. Must do better!
On a day that had been peppered with transfer speculation, 3 of our most recent additions made their way on to the bench giving us hope that we might see them once we had secured the points. Although with our adventure in Lask still only a week ago, the scoreline that “secures the points” is open to debate.
Calmac returned to the starting line up and I was glad to see that The Ox didn’t give way, with Baur being the one that was unfortunate to be benched. And with Tierney injured we really had no other alternative to playing Scales at the back, well, as long as we continue to deploy a back 4 set up.
Celtic took early control and had won 4 corners in the opening 9 minutes. But when the goal came, Duran’s early dipping strike from just outside the box took the whole stadium by surprise. Another cracking goal from our latest hero who is already looking to be a real find.
With a third of the game gone, we doubled our lead. Good work from Hassan on the right and his delivery into the box was wonderfully backheel-volleyed by Duran back across to (who else?) Nygren, who sidefooted his shot home.
Aberdeen’s only chance of the game came almost on the half time whistle. A corner came in and with Sinisalo in no man’s land the Aberdeen striker’s header crashed off the bar and was then scrambled out to our right back position. The obvious thing for Donovan to do was to blooter it up the park but instead Colby got the ball under control, took time to look up and fired a ball up towards Duran on the half way line. Camilo was 2 strong for the 2 Aberdeen defenders and wriggled through, advancing on goal and spotting the impressive Yang in the inside left position. A controlled finish from Hyunjun saw Celtic go into the break 3 goals to the good. A mere 26 seconds between the ball coming off the Celtic bar and it hitting the Aberdeen net.
Although we continued to link well and create chances throughout the second half, there were no more goals to show for our efforts. Plenty of intricate in-the-box passing but sometimes trying too hard to score the perfect goal.
So, in the end a very comprehensive 3-0 victory that meant that Celtic continue their flawless start to the league campaign.
Celtic have now played 7 games, winning 6 and losing 1. We have scored 19 and conceded 7. We sit 2 points clear at the top of the table.
Another excellent turnout of voters, so thank you for that. For this latest game, 124 provided their nominations, meaning we have again hit the 100+ target, for the 6th time in 7 games. £15 was sent to the Glasgow City Mission last weekend and that’s another £3 that’ll be going into the pot.
The total votes cast for each player (with my own nominations asterisked) are as follows –
Sinisalo: 0
Donovan*: 69
Carter Vickers: 1
Trusty: 0
Scales: 9

Yang*: 78
Baur: 0
Sørensen: 0
Forrest: 1
Mheuka: 0
Tounekti: 0
Unused subs: Johnstone, McCowan, Murray, Ralston
And so, the POINTS earned by each player for the game against Aberdeen are as follows –

10 – Scales
9 each – Carter-Vickers and Forrest
5 each – Baur, Mheuka, Sinisalo, Sørensen, Tounekti, Trusty

And the CUMULATIVE POINTS after 7 games played are as follows –

2 – Balikwisha

Our next game is also in the league when we travel to face 2nd placed, unbeaten in the league, St Mirren in Paisley on Saturday, kick off 8.00pm.
Hail Hail!
McPake is ex Hun youth, from Coatbridge. Probably a Celtic fan prior to being seduced by the dark side.
Quite the journeyman carrer until a standout season at ST J last term and now doing the business at Hearts. Late bloomer?
Calvin Miller will also cause our left side problems too. Him we know about and he’s developed well since leaving Celtic.
CT
Possibly for a “foul” by Hanley, but who knows? If it was, have to ask why the ref allowed Hibs to play on in possession for the remainder of the move until the ball hit the net. He wasn’t playing advantage so not sure why he waited so long before deciding it was a foul.
