New Look Bhoys on the road

Yes, the troops will hit the road not long after signing, such is life.

Martin isn’t a change for the sake of change manager but what he will do is tell everyone on the bench they need to be better than their direct replacement. Well the window is shut and on paper we have assembled the strongest in decades, it now remains to be translated onto the pitch.

Under Brendan I often felt the final 11 were crucial, I believe Martin is the opposite in that he plays his best from the start. Then he calls the rest to come on. How we integrate this weeks 5 into the team is a good question but the substitute list will be looking a lot different than last weekend I predict. Looking pretty hefty.

I suspect Martin will start the usual suspects with the instruction to the subs to watch then beat their direct opponent. I do expect debuts in a few positions and I hope they are not “dig us out of a hole” debuts but rather a “show us what you got” debut and tomorrow should make good reading as we discuss exactly that.

Who do I want to see the most you ask? Personally,,,Van the Man but in saying that it would please me to the heavens if our bench has it in them to truly kill a game. I would settle for that all season long. It’s a squad game more than ever and we are stacked.

From Saint Mirren’s POV its a bad one,,,,under the lights on a Saturday night the Tims will arrive enmasse, out sing the home crowd, and more than likely outplay the hosts.
Oh dear, how sad.

The gambler in me would back Yang to score again as a partiing gift, he is kinda likeable isn’t he?
Some goals, some debuts, it should be a fun outing.

EL,

you right it´s only one factor

The main factor the SFA have attempted to address with yesterdays announcement. U21 players getting game time. Scotland´s figure is 4.8% the lowest in Europe by far, Denmark the benchmark that the SFA is using is 16%

The SFA spend 2m on youth development compared to 750K by the Danish FA. The glaring problem is a clear pathway

I just don’t think an extra million quid in cash split amongst all SPFL clubs as has been announced will make any difference to eventual team selection.

Iniq, 1.52

As a long line of clubs have shown, there are countless coaches being paid fortunes to do a job you or I could do.

The Ipswich coaches/scouts obviously watched the impact Daizen was beginning to have with us ..and what’s the first thing they do after signing him? They ask him to do all the things his game doesn’t suit.

I’d wait till next summer and offer them a couple of million and get him back.

Shares prices in UK Brewing and Beverage companies tumbled as news broke of BBRB’s self imposed September teetotal break. One Glasgow publican was quoted as saying “I’ve already cancelled deliveries. I may have to look at layoffs.”

In related news, Glasgow CID are investigating allegations of insider training as huge numbers of shares were sold in late August. A shadowy underworld character known only to the authorities as LEGGY is alleged to have dumped thousands of shares before the news broke, and just as swiftly reacquired them when share prices bottomed out. He is alleged to have insider access to online material akin to “Truth Social”. Investigators have little to go on, but suspect the principals behind the online instrument used to disseminate information affecting the market are based in California and possibly Wiltshire.

Re Daizen.

It’s the same kinda thing as buying Kyogo then asking him to play with his back to goal .. he’s not built for that.

Is no one at Ipswich smart enough to know how to best utilise Daizen’s very obvious attributes? He’ll be utterly wasted with them. Shame, because he is just entering his prime years.

Yeah, I’d forgive him for looking for a bigger pay-day, better league, but I’d be serious about trying to get him back.

We could/would still get at least 5 years of speedy Gonzalez.

September 5, 2026 2:35 pm

BAD,

I watched Ipswich last night and they look certain for relegation.

Agree they are playing Daizen out of position, more like a left back.

Maybe Ipswich don’t have as good translators as us😁

Was interesting that once Diazen was substituted Ipswich started playing down his (left) side.

It seems everything has to go through Enciso, who plays for himself.

I think he’s more likely to head back to Japan when Ipswich are relegated.

I also watched the Ipswich game and focused on Maeda. I thought he had an OK game relative to the other Ipswich forwards. He did have at least two shots directly on target, admittedly they were weak. Encisco may have had more but never looked like scoring. The two lumbering strikers had less efforts on goal than Maeda.

Lack of a cutting edge is the Ipswich problem, not Maeda. In judging Maeda, we should remember his late season form compared to his early season effort. Time will tell.

I would not write the tractor boys off just yet. They contained a rampant Pool team after the first 10 minutes. Coventry look a more likely bet for the drop, despite winning the Championship last season.

just 2? If i get 2 for you, id have to get tickets for everyone!

When Oasis were in town last time, there was a lottery for tickets. Im not a huge Oasis fan, but my pal is and his kid wanted to get tickets for his dad as a surprise. So, to help out, I put my name down, and got on the list, and got in. After waiting in the queue for hours, my number comes up, and just as I was about to buy them, we find out that my pal had gotten tickets for himself and his sons, so they didnt need me after all!

Only tickets left were about 500 each. But even in the few hours i had been waiting online,, people were already reselling them for 1500! So i could have grabbed them and just flipped them. But I hate scalpers, so didnt want to buy them and resell them, so ended up not getting any.

given the last tour was their big comeback, hopefully the demand and price wont be as crazy this time!

Motherwell do the usual, pointless stuff.
League is too small to blood young players. Nothing will change until everything changes and I’m not holding my breath. Watched the second half of our game mid week utterly boring. its certainly not as big as a place like New York, and a few good one have closed over the years, but there are still enough clubs left of various sizes to see most of the music that I like. Some famous historic venues like the ElMocambo, and Massey hall (holds about 3,000) are still kicking.

I love live music, and it is one of the treats I give myself, but I dont see nearly as many shows as I once did. And now tend to go to shows where I can sit down, like Koerner Hall, which is part of UoT’;s music school. 1,100 capacity. Kinda posh. Spectacular acoustics, and hosts a lot of jazz and classical shows. I think my rock and roll mosh pit days are ending!😆

MiT,

I’ve always been happier at a live music show, than I ever was at the disco 🤸🚶🏃
There’s a good chance of me putting my back out on the dancefloor now.
That’s one thing about Scotland though, there has always been lots of great music venues ..
Plus, it always helped being half a mile from the town centre, and places like the Barrowlands.
Best job I ever had was when I worked at the Barrowlands.
Every night I found money and enough drugs and fags for a year ..if that was your thing ..ahem 🤪

Increasingly, I am loving Toronto less and less. Too big. Too noisy. Paradoxically, it is the music I would miss the most.

funny enough, LiT just sent me a listing for a beautiful place on Lac Brome, just an hour south of Montreal. Five minutes away from his place. I have fallen back in love with Montreal, and if it were just me to consider, I would probably move there now.

But my mom has retired 2 hours west of Toronto, so am sort of tied here for a while as she will increasingly need more help I think.

Rebus67 I wish you nothing but good things with whatever treatment they adopt for you. I’ve had that bastard twice, and they used some very successful treatments on me. Put it this way, I’d rather catch cancer (if i had to) nowadays than say 20 years ago.

One promising treatment was injecting a TB strain (tuberculosis) temporarily into my body, it makes your blood cells react to the foreign body and they rush down and start to fight and clean out the TB and anything else in the vicinity of said area, it’s a very clever treatment and possibly one to have a chat about with your doctor.

All the best. HH

some dreadful games today …Forest Spurs was painful yo watch, but Villa were even worse… but at least they got a shot on target today! 1 shot in 3 games! Emery is one of the best coaches in the game, but he wont be there much longer un less he turns the ship around, and quickly.

Watched a bit of the City Coventry game as well(flipping between various games On TV with the zombies on the computers)

for a team most expect to be relegation fodder, Coventry played well.

what was interesting was how City tried to break down Coventry’s 2 banks of 4. City’s forwards weren’t running straight, but were making diagonal runs between the two lines of defence, meaning the could receive the ball while still moving forward, but not be offside. And made it harder for defenders to know which of them should pick up the runner.

clearly something City have worked out. Shows that there are ways to break down packed defences. MON and SM should be studying Man City’s movement.

September 5, 2026 8:17 pm

I know Donovan has been heaped with praise recently but I think it’s more of fans wishes we produce a home grown talent.
I think he is defensively clueless.
Twice so far he has had zero clue where his man is.
Second time he was rightfully booked for a wild lunge attempting to recover.
It was the same midweek were we got away with it against a poor opponent.
As I type Donovan makes a good interception.
