Blame Game
Morning, all.
It has been a truly awful two weeks for Celtic, and that’s despite the fact that we were without football at all for one of them. We saw our dreams of a cherished treble disappear at Ibrox. You’ll all remember those heady years when we took such things for granted, winning four in succession. We saw our European aspirations take a damn good thrashing as Ferencvaros came to town and hammered us. And finally, the icing on the cake, a meek surrender at home in the league to the foe malign, a performance which yielded a miserable one shot on target.
Last week, while the game took itself to international pastures, saw the release of the latest accounts. Turnover fell off a cliff last season, and our record profits of £45m were converted to a £6m loss.
Strangely, nobody stood up and took the blame for any of these events. Yeah sure, there was lip service paid to having to step up to the plate, having to accept responsibility. Yet we still saw the same end result, a rudderless leaderless headlong rush into making the same mistakes time and again. One player stood up and told us what we knew to be true, that there is a lack of proper coaching and direction for the players from our management team.
He got crucified for it on most of the sites. Seems us Celtic supporters don’t like being told, even if by one of our own players, what most of us are saying amongst friends in the stands, the pub, or even on sites like this.
Even worse was to come from our CEO and interim Chairman when they provided their statements in the accounts. While admitting to a tough year which saw us with three separate managers, four if we include Martin O’Neill twice, it was all’s well that ends well and all right on the night as far as they were concerned. Every decision made was justified by the final outcome-which meant that they had proof that every decision made was the right one.
No mention of the precipitous drop in income, other than to say that they safeguard against such by having sufficient cash reserves. Barely a mention of the reasons for that drop, including the loss of Champions League riches caused by their ineptitude last summer. Nothing at all about the drop in merchandising income, brought about by a widespread boycott of the tat which routinely hits our inboxes almost monthly. And certainly no mention of why our cash reserves dropped by £11m when our post tax deficit was only around a third of that.
Meanwhile, some of our supporters still hold blindly to the notion that all of our ills can be laid at the door of our former manager, whose only crime was to speak publicly about not getting the players he required at all, never mind at the time he wanted them. After all, how could they be signed when the CEO was hamstrung by an outdated signing and wages policy? I await with interest the target of the latest blame game which will be along shortly. I confidently expect the common denominators who have been in place throughout to be sheltered from the loud howls of disapproval by their unofficial fan club.
Meanwhile, this club is in danger of slipping into irrelevance, a doom loop of its own making. And we will be told it is all the fault of those nasty fans with banners depicting the real culprits with a red line through their image.
I think we on here are smart enough to know different. And to lay the blame where it belongs.

Hopefully all regulars will be in attendance and it would be good to see new posters from here making an appearance.

Ps
I’ll post a reminder next week to anyone that misses this.
Great lead BM.
We’re in a total mess , that’s for sure.
On the field, have we even started back at Lennoxtown to coach all available players into a coherent system to replace the current Frankenstein one?
I bet we haven’t.
The club is not in danger of slipping into irrelevance – the gradual process is underway and is quickening.
The last 12 months marks a sea change in club capability, adaptability and performance levels.
We have failed to improve on every metric available.
Coaching is rudimentary at best. There is no discernible pattern of play. It’s shambolic.
Recruitment has been negligent in key areas and generally variable, existing playing personnel are in decline, some seriously, yet they remain integral in selection and formation terms. Augmented by new players who are trying to find their feet without any positive direction from said basic, witless coaching staff.
We have serious problems.
Anyone denying that is taking a dangerously optimistic attitude that it’ll be alright on the night.
That we are a capable organisation.
We are a struggling business, the figures prove that. One that needs serious restructuring.
At which point do DD and his craven Board acknowledge failure and are willing to reset?
Too big to fail?
Tell that to modest teams who consider us a scalp easily taken. Every EL team would be happy to play us.
Domestically the Huns must scent blood.
This season success will be measured by scrambling to win a third rate league, allowing access to the next to lowest level entry in the only game that really matters.
Second best is literally nowhere and a life among the never will be’s in a backwater Euro zone, no doubt justifying further downsizing by this negligent regime.
There’s your doom loop.
For change recognition is required.
Our suits will blame it on nasty fans boycotting merchandise.
Our suits will blame it on BR and all recent coaches for being unable to compete with one arm tied behind back.
Our suits will point to inferior performances by players bought for resale not team value.
Our suits have never bothered to attempt building a proper football department.
Our suits are overpaid when you consider how little they have achieved.
Our fans are overcharged / fleeced so that they can pay for our overpriced suits to sit in their ivory tower and look down on us.
Ex Machina
(The club is not in danger of slipping into irrelevance – the gradual process is underway and is quickening)
Absolutely and the seeming lack of recognition by Despot and Lackeys is unfathomable.
What comes next?
Excellent lead Bobby.
I predicted 2 years ago that this was coming. The only thing that surprised me, was that Brendan lasted as long.
This is only going to get worse as the people running our club are completely incompetent and we have no experienced football people making football decisions.
No serious football club with a plan would have appointed MON as manager in the summer.
I really worry that this is only the beginning.
Oh , I forgot it’s all the fans fault
Fan
Losing ground domestically and falling into the bottom third of the EL table.
Then it gets worse. Sad and pathetic ECL nights under disco lights and a closed top tier.
I wonder if CCV spoke with CalMacs blessing? You’d think so as is/was CCV not vice captain??..
An excellent summation of where we are Bobby.
For the past few weeks, especially after the home defeat from the huns, there is a sad acceptance among fellow fans I meet that we are in a very dark place with no suggestion that anyone at CP knows how to reverse the sorry trend.
We’ve given up on words of hope and are reduced to gestures of frustration. A sorrowful shake of the head or a shrug of the shoulders instead of words of anger.
After Mass on Sunday the topic of football, normally the main topic, wasn’t even aired. I know we’re in an International Break but that is unprecedented in my memory.
I had a quick look yesterday at our next 5 fixtures. There’s not one of them that is a gimme. Things might be about to get a lot worse before they get better.
If I was MON I’d get out now. I hear lots of talk that his legacy is untouchable. I’m not so sure any more. That was an extremely disappointing 7 days. A total shitshow in fact.
I’m praying that there are things going on behind the scenes in that respect although it’s more in hope than expectation.

I know. And I didn’t see any mention of those factors.
Why your honour did the football authorities regard the huns systematic manipulation of remuneration and registration as producing no unfair competitive advantage, while regarding City’s alleged manipulation of remuneration/financial information as producing one?
Could it in any way be because the huns were owned by a knight of the realm who admitted in court under oath that it gained a competitive advantage by diddling his beloved realm and that Citeh owned by a Sheikh who has paid all his taxes but isn’t conferred the same unwritten immunity?
So if you are going to punish us more than the huns then we will be suing the EPL until the cows come home on planet mars. We have far more money and more political clout than you can ever dream of …so what’s it to be your honour?

Media facilitated the hun survival myth.
Same media refuse to criticise the Celtic custodians for how poorly the club is run.
Same media who criticised Paul McStay in a Scotland jersey consistently.
Same media who criticised Callum McGregor in a Scotland jersey yet praise him in a Celtic jersey.
Same media who facilitate referee and VAR cheating against Celtic yet are outraged whenever a decision goes Celtic’s way.
Media are mouthpiece of a very dishonest Scottish society who besmirching Celtic fc at every opportunity yet leave our custodians full reign to destroy our club from within.
the annual report dor 2026 hasnt been published yet/
I was there. Probably Willie Wallace’s finest game ever. He was everywhere on the park, showing incredible energy for 90 minutes. Absolutely unforgettable. Check the number of times Kenneth Wolstenhome ( think it was him ) mentions his name in this clip.

Celtic budget on EL income more or less guaranreed, so here we are in the EL.
However we should be competitive in the EL and there is little evidence that we are and whilst there are risks of not qualify for CL to be considered in forward financial planning there are none for EL so are our signings of later stage of EL quality as we surely can afford them?
As regards the boycott, reducing the income that contributes to the quality of the player we sign makes no sense if we want to sign better quality.
It came from not putting a penny more in Directors pockets which is a fallacy
Or
that it tell Directors how we feel,
Howeverc it does not affect them as they simply reduce player wages to compensate and as such it is self harming and counterproductive to the underlying aim.
It gives The Board and DD cause to treat us with disdain.
Auldheid
(It gives The Board and DD cause to treat us with disdain.)
This board needs no cause to treat fans with disdain.
They have done so for a sustained period.
Look at last years AGM where Lawwell and Nero baby sabotaged any discussion with fans so engineered a cancellation rather than have dialogue with fans.
They have given fan names to police which led to unfair and unfounded charges which were mostly dismissed.
They banned a whole section of the support with little evidence to justify.
But denying them money they won’t use on the football department gives them reason?
I call bullshit!

Re the Fairford Air Base Incident:
Police are keen to talk with ‘white van’ drivers in the Swindon area 😱
Anybody heard from BMCUWP 😂
I read this interesting view on t’internet today 😂
For the past few months, we’ve been told by people with a crystal ball that an attack on UK soil was imminent, and now it’s finally happened. There was an incident at RAF Fairford last night that resulted in 85 homes being evacuated. The media would like you to know this incident was terrifying. So terrifying, in fact, that you should probably get ready for war.
This is an emerging story, but here’s what I’ve managed to piece together so far. Given the media seems to be making this up as it goes along, some of the details are probably gonna change. Needless to say, they have plot holes to fill…
A farmer was driving home in the early hours of the morning and she noticed three white vans blocking the road. No one was inside them. She turned around and spotted a bunch of Middle Eastern-looking boys running off into the woods. Those woods were incredibly dark, but thankfully, she has the eyes of an owl. She was able to work out their ethnicity through the shadow of the trees, despite the fact they were wearing masks.
She called an emergency line that locals had been given for just such a scenario, but no one could be bothered to answer. She called 999 and police came out within ten minutes of her call. When they arrived, they said they’d first been notified nearly an hour ago, but hadn’t bothered doing anything. There were no routine security patrols around the base either. It’s basically the sloppiest security effort since Netanyahu gave standdown orders on October 7.
Luckily for the police, those Middle-Eastern-looking boys were still hanging around 25 minutes later and were arrested under the Explosives Act.
We are told the vans had been driving around the base for hours before they parked up. It’s like they were making their arrival as visible as possible and then they just waited around to be caught. Either it was deliberate or they were just as useless as base security.
Somehow it gets even worse. The vans were parked just six metres from houses, and the company names and telephone numbers on them were fake. Yet it took police around five hours to give evacuation orders. Maybe they knew the vans weren’t a threat, or maybe they’re staggeringly incompetent. I guess it could be both.
Prior to the incident, the base was on its highest alert, and one local said they’d been stopped at gunpoint by Americans. If you didn’t know, this is an American base on our soil, or a “fort” as Trump called it. The US president was giving interviews about the incident shortly after it happened. He said “it worked out great”, which is an odd choice of words, don’t you think?
Trump said the US had been investigating the suspects for a long time. Not sure if he meant “investigating” or actually meant “working with”. All I know is the British are insisting the arrests weren’t intelligence-led and that a farmer basically saved the country.
We are now being told by the war-hungry media it was Iran, Iran, Iran… or maybe Russia, according to one news reader who mumbled something about this is why we need tactical nukes. Yelp.
Now I’m still not clear what these “Iranians” were hoping to achieve. Park vans packed with explosives near a base and blow the whole thing up? Unless they had a nuke, best they’d achieve is damage to a few nearby houses and trees.
If the Iranians wanted to pull this off, they would not hire a bunch of kids to drive in circles for hours around a base that’s on its highest alert and then hide in the woods until they were caught. They would quickly launch drones and disappear.
It seems more likely this was a performance rather than a serious attack. Shortly after it happened, we had a news crew flying above Fairford in a helicopter, showing the location of B1 Stealth Bombers and other sensitive things. If there was a real threat, that’s the last thing they would allow.
Now you have to ask yourself which parties would benefit from this. Israel needs us to join its war, the US needs to keep using Fairford to bomb Iran, and the UK needs to justify its involvement.
Even though we attacked Iran first, they will probably spin it into something like this: “Iran is attacking the UK, even though we are a neutral party. Therefore we have no choice but to get involved”. This would be a terrible legal and moral argument, but it just needs to convince stupid people. We have to make sure stupid people are not taken in by this crap.

Back in the day, I had a few drops each trip in Fairford (the village). Lovely wee place, and quite the scenic drive to get there. As with all the military sites dotted around Wiltshire, if I strayed too close I was immediately pulled over, asked for ID etc. These were not routine two minute affairs, they would deliberately stretch them out to stop me being careless in future.
Unless security is more lax these days-which I seriously doubt-I think this is a storm in a teacup. But I have to say that the skies over Swindon have been quiet since, which is nice (!)

Might be of interest re Man City
An E Mail from The Athletic.
Reaction from club, their rivals – and what happens now?
The only consolation for the Premier League amid the frenzy over Manchester City’s industrial-scale rule breaking is that news of the club’s guilt broke during an extended pause for international fixtures. It’s respite of sorts as the entire world waits to see what happens next.
While we know City are guilty on 114 of the 115 charges brought against them by the Premier League, we don’t know what that means in practice — because sanctions are pending and there’s no guarantee at all that we’ll have any clarity on that front when the competition resumes on October 10. What does seem inevitable, however, is the most chaotic English top-flight season in history.
The story led news bulletins everywhere after The Athletic broke it on Friday. Here’s what’s happened since TAFC brought you word of the findings against City:
Multiple rival Premier League teams are instructing lawyers to assess whether they might be entitled to compensation based on City’s success costing them trophies, Champions League qualification and so on. It’s possible a group legal action is in the pipeline.
We’ve heard from the most senior figure at the Etihad, City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak. “The Premier League process still has a long way to run, and our confidence and intent in proving the club’s innocence is just as strong as when this began,” he said. Suffice to say, they aren’t going to take the outcome of this case lying down.
It’s still radio silence from the Premier League itself. Despite the intense coverage of this story over the weekend, the organisation has said nothing publicly, nor indicated when confirmation of City’s punishment is likely to be forthcoming.
‘Everything was deserved’
Noel Gallagher says Man City triumphs are not tarnished: ‘I know what I saw, I know what I felt’
The vacuum leaves so many unanswered questions. Will City, who lead the table after five matches this season, be docked points? Will they be thrown out of the Premier League completely?
Will they, as Tim Spiers asks, have titles stripped as a result of their financial breaches between 2009 and 2018 (a spell in which they won the Premier League three times)? And were they to appeal some or all of their guilty verdicts — as seems entirely possible — would sanctions be suspended in the meantime?
The mess is unprecedented and the competition will be stuck in limbo while these questions are unresolved, with clubs, City included, ploughing on in the dark. Oasis songwriter and guitarist Noel Gallagher, City’s biggest celebrity fan, told Sam Lee that he doesn’t think their trophies are tarnished. Rodri — now at Barcelona but a key part of City’s dominant years — was defiant in insisting: “I can tell you everything was deserved, living through one of the best eras of English football.”
It’s fighting talk but the catalogue of wrongdoing, first exposed by the Football Leaks whistleblower Rui Pinto, is drastically altering the perception of those many years of achievement at the Etihad. In the meantime, City and the rest of the division are occupying in a holding pattern, deprived of full closure.
Mags,
Re McCoist:
Cos the prick is on a major radio station and occasionally on TV spouting shite.

Oh the disdain goes way back, it can be seen in writing when a well considered proposal made is viewed with respect or at an AGM where they are surprised when an argument from the floor is well articulated.
Call it condescending but when I argue from a position that the support is a reservoir of skills to draw on and deserve respect I have little evidence to back me up.
They believe and wrongly in my view it is a waste of time engaging on social media. Sometimes I think they might be right but I’m too stubborn from my own good.
