Blame Game
Morning, all.
It has been a truly awful two weeks for Celtic, and that’s despite the fact that we were without football at all for one of them. We saw our dreams of a cherished treble disappear at Ibrox. You’ll all remember those heady years when we took such things for granted, winning four in succession. We saw our European aspirations take a damn good thrashing as Ferencvaros came to town and hammered us. And finally, the icing on the cake, a meek surrender at home in the league to the foe malign, a performance which yielded a miserable one shot on target.
Last week, while the game took itself to international pastures, saw the release of the latest accounts. Turnover fell off a cliff last season, and our record profits of £45m were converted to a £6m loss.
Strangely, nobody stood up and took the blame for any of these events. Yeah sure, there was lip service paid to having to step up to the plate, having to accept responsibility. Yet we still saw the same end result, a rudderless leaderless headlong rush into making the same mistakes time and again. One player stood up and told us what we knew to be true, that there is a lack of proper coaching and direction for the players from our management team.
He got crucified for it on most of the sites. Seems us Celtic supporters don’t like being told, even if by one of our own players, what most of us are saying amongst friends in the stands, the pub, or even on sites like this.
Even worse was to come from our CEO and interim Chairman when they provided their statements in the accounts. While admitting to a tough year which saw us with three separate managers, four if we include Martin O’Neill twice, it was all’s well that ends well and all right on the night as far as they were concerned. Every decision made was justified by the final outcome-which meant that they had proof that every decision made was the right one.
No mention of the precipitous drop in income, other than to say that they safeguard against such by having sufficient cash reserves. Barely a mention of the reasons for that drop, including the loss of Champions League riches caused by their ineptitude last summer. Nothing at all about the drop in merchandising income, brought about by a widespread boycott of the tat which routinely hits our inboxes almost monthly. And certainly no mention of why our cash reserves dropped by £11m when our post tax deficit was only around a third of that.
Meanwhile, some of our supporters still hold blindly to the notion that all of our ills can be laid at the door of our former manager, whose only crime was to speak publicly about not getting the players he required at all, never mind at the time he wanted them. After all, how could they be signed when the CEO was hamstrung by an outdated signing and wages policy? I await with interest the target of the latest blame game which will be along shortly. I confidently expect the common denominators who have been in place throughout to be sheltered from the loud howls of disapproval by their unofficial fan club.
Meanwhile, this club is in danger of slipping into irrelevance, a doom loop of its own making. And we will be told it is all the fault of those nasty fans with banners depicting the real culprits with a red line through their image.
I think we on here are smart enough to know different. And to lay the blame where it belongs.

TSATC hi buddy.H.H hope you are well ,some good days some bad days,❤❤❤❤❤
MIT & BP
My best to both of you and yours.
Nice to hear the Miles track. ‘Kind of Blue’ has been in every house I’ve ever lived in some format and yet I don’t suppose I’ve played it since the first Covid lockdown- as with Louis Armstrong’s Hot 5 and Hot 7 recordings or Brubeck’s Time Out it’s nice to know it’s there nestling within my cd and vinyl collections. Could not give you a top 5 jazz musicians or a best female singer- Ella? Billie, Anita O’Day etc- but Chet might be my favourite male jazz singer.
Anyway – thanks for sharing the link and again my best to you and yours
Jimbo
JIMBO67 hi pal, nice to see another proper music lover on here❤❤❤❤👍👍
Lamal, 1min 20
1-0
Ooft.
Scotland 1-0 down and down to 10 men.
Scotland 1 down and now with 10 men.
WTF was Jack Henry doing?
Jack Hendry showing old Celtic defender habit by being wrong side of forward in vital area.
Pulls guy back so rightfully gets a red.
Swiss score from free kick just to rub it in.
Henry should have let the player shoot, he might have missed?
Anyway, Swiss had already looked different class.
Hendry just stupid. Was always going to be sent off, even if the ref had awarded a penalty. No genuine attempt to play the ball, VAR would have alerted the ref to it. Why push a player running in on goal? There was only ever going to be one outcome.
As for Gunn’s attempt to save the free kick with his arms by his side….😡
Billy Gilmour doing his best Calmac impersonation by passing backwards consistently!
The pre matching praise for him was nauseating.
Another midfielder playing like it’s 2015
Scotland players don’t know how to tackle just constantly fouling.
BTW, who is Binks? Where did he appear from?
Sol Kitts
Hendry has some moments but his mental strength weak so always prone to making errors
Calton
Scotland like Celtic in spacing so rarely win tackles due to poor positioning.
Scotland coach new so understandable
Fan
I’d have seen the point in the “professional foul” if the score was 0-0 with 30 seconds left in the game, but not when the game was 10 minutes in. Far better to just concede the goal (as you say though, he might have missed it) and keep 11 men on the field.
Jimbo
Cheers pal. You talk a lot of sense …. you need to post more often!😆
McBurnie with an outrageous dive, rightly ignored by the ref. Lucky not to get a yellow card.

pileon for man city but ……………
i get the feeling celtic plc will start usin the look at what they did, so we must be even more compliant with fsr.
Ball passed to Gilmour on the edge of the box, decided to pass when he had a clear view of goal.
Gilmour had shot on and gives a wide pass to relinquish responsibility.
I hate these type of midfielders.
Masters of sideways and backwards.
Commentators finding excuse for him.
would not watch scotland if they were playing in my back garden, remember jim farry and the jorge cadette afair they will do anything in their power to stop celtic gaining an advantage over the famous glesca rainjurs, another true story👍
If Switzerland slip into second gear they will give Scotland a severe hiding.
Scotland system and set up has more holes than Swiss cheese.
Fan@8:14
Just going to say the same thing. It’s like watching the current ‘Tic
This ref is an Awayer (is this a word?).
Having said that, the Swiss look as if they could score at will.

The lights will help illuminate the closed upper tier.
Under the current regime there is a sad inevitability about this spiral of decline.

i disagree,
facts are season tickets sell out when a hun entity is in the league.
and if they have a sniff of winning the league our place sells out till the last game.
if they were tin for a period celtic park wiill be stowed.
Can’t be arsed watching the second half, off to documentary channel
I thought the SWISS would ROLL over Scotland but it’s not been the cakewalk I expected.
I’ve got to say that I thought the red card was pretty harsh. The striker went down theatrically from a slight touch.
Ollie McBurney is the mini me version of Andy Gray but without talent.
Robertson is well past it and lacks the savvy for position.
Only Ferguson of midfield showing.
Patterson demonstrating why Everton don’t play him.
McGinn’s big arse catching up with him. Utter shit.
Billy Bhoy,
like the puns, keep them coming
Why was McBurnie our only marker? 0-2 now. Time for Bangers & Cash .
Christie on to clear the rafters of pigeons.
Fans been shit on by team so no need for pigeons in rafters to do the same.
Ben Magicians Cloak on to run up blind alleys
He should peek out from it occasionally and try and find a teammate.
Most teams have a player blocking the low cross for that 2nd goal.
McKenna was about 3 yards away from correct position but Welsh will get the blame.
Swiss go down left and 4 Scotland defenders go back in perfect line.
Luckily no cut back as 2 Swiss around the D waiting.
No midfielder picked them up.
Calton .
True McKenna should have cut cross out
But in Scotland default position is to blame the fenian
Four quick games on the trot for Scotland and New coach.
Be lucky to score a goal.
Excuses will be made 😁
Welsh booked.
When will our central defenders learn to hold position instead of making poor tacklesj

AULDHEiD hi pal if your lurking, take no notice of these so called celtic supporters who are giving you abuse, we both saw celtic win a european cup I was 14 think you were about 19 im now 73 you are probably reaching 80 but these chaps on here are calling us one of Europe’s greats talk about delusional ,they probably would never have heard of stevie chalmers or bobby lennox, we are the so called also rans of Europe won it once…
—————–
Hi nice to meet you to,
I appreciate we are not in the big money leagues but our attendance is #20 in Europe and our fanbase is globally massive hence the Adidas elite deal.I’m not saying we can win the CL in case you thought I was, I’d just like us to punch our weight and at least win the EL or be up there.
Is there a Celtic fan alive who hasn’t heard of the Lisbon Lions, I think not ?
I was 4 years old the first time my Dad took me to see the Lisbon Lions v Leeds United in the European Cup semi 1970. So I’m not a “so called Celtic supporter” and nor did I give anyone abuse other than the pompous twats on the Celtic board who think they are better than us.
Apologies if that offended you as it was rather crude but I am passionate about this, as I’m sure you are to, although perhaps if you had a bit more ambition for us you wouldn’t see someone who does as being “delusional”.
I know Scotland are down to ten, but it’s like watching Clarke’s World Cup eleven. The only improvement is seeing new faces , still utter pish mind
0-3 now 🫣
3-0. Everyone in box defending corner, Swiss player in loads of space sweeps it home from cut back. Keeper didn’t look too clever.
Switzerland 3-0
Strange defensive set up as we had 2 lines at penalty spot and Swiss stayed at 18 yard line with about 4 players waiting for a shot.
Coach hasn’t had time to instill tactics yet but the naivety in defending will cause him panic
Fan,
This new coach is looking like an International Nancy 😁
Calton Tongues
True!
And if he takes his cues from Hun media he will go same way.
The lack of basic game intelligence from professional players is shocking
Mmm, that didn’t look out.
Should be 4-0.

Just got in after a long day, and saw the scores.
Scotland really are the pits.
Bottom of the Group beckons.
Well it looks like the Fairford five foreign fission fuckers were only finagling fuel for fuck sake
IQV4
Scotland never improved from their 1958 post WW2 status ( maybe a blip in 1974) but once shite always shite
Mags,
Its like we taught the world the basics in the last century and then sat on their laurels.
