Back to the grind
Rather than feel like a break the lengthy spell alongside the headlines almost had me believing Man City just plain murdered football and it had left this world.
Such a travesty won’t take place on our watch and so its back to the grind, and when I say grind I mean grind. A “testing” period lies ahead, and I’m not just talking about the boardroom/fan tussle, Celtic will be facing good sides. There are 9 games in this block before the November break, and to emerge with heads held high would take a standard of play thats yet to emerge this season.
This block of fixtures basically defines our season, really tough or not. Losing to Benfica is a given, Fir Park on Sunday is the only chance to squeeze a W in between for L’s in the recent form guide. Those at Hearts will be watching carefully because what is pulled out of the hat this weekend they face next, and supposedly the data and manager are in tune to find our gaps, gulp.
Clusters of games are often used as benchmarks, and it must be said the manager needs some type of response from the squad for them.
Whatever he has done over the last 3 weeks might be Martins last roll of the dice. If the players want him gone here’s their prime opportunity. On the flip side if ever the team needed home backing this is our prime opportunity and now we know for reasons beyond the players control instead of encouragement and songs the negative audibles with be amplified, great timing.
I’ve never known a straightforward SPL win to be so necessary and so meaningful. By hook or by crook we need to win this match but straightforward SPL wins and Celtic aren’t the best of friends recently, been on the rocks for a while actually. We need a ray of sunshine through the gathered clouds and some excitement injected back into our lives and theres only one team for the job.
On a footballing level Im happy to face Motherwell as they try to play which suits us, good surface, and the away fans in full voice. Its a pity our one and only gold medal winner (?) is injured, I wanted Yang to storm back triumphant like Caesar, and lead us to victory. Someone definitely needs to lead us to victory, Callum and the OX had a holiday then two weeks to prepare for this game, be nice to see either stepping up. I heard the left flank is very light but I still dont want Tonetki there, James if needed.
A non 3points lackluster performance will likely see the sky cave in on Celtic Park, Benfica will add to the pile in, leaving the Jambos as the ticking time bomb to derail us.
Please Sellic, deliver some respite to the masses. Bring those points home.
Up The Hoops!

Initial thoughts. Playing well, better intensity, especially in forward areas. Still suspect to a quick counter or direct long ball.
Overall, happy.
Mothers with everyone behind the ball just waiting on us making a mistake.
Murray ffs give to the keeper.
Decent first half hour.crossing as usual could be better.need to watch ‘well on the break
Young murray a bit shaky at the moment , he will come good . We should be goals up
Momentum has dropped, bit waywardly at times bow…need a second to calm everything down a bit.
Mothers get away with another.
The amount of times we can’t find a player with a cutback will come back to haunt us.
Hogh proving why no other club in Europe were interested.
Another two openings but too many Mothers players defending.
Will Hogh ever score wearing the Hoops?
HT, 1 up but game should be over.

If you play for Celtic and can’t score v bog standard SPFL teams on a regular basis, then it looks like £11m down the drain.
Overall quite an improvement. Tounekti has put in three first class crosses which have unfortunately no-one on the other end. Otherwise he’s still like a man doon considering how much of the ball he has had. Duran and Nygren almost spectators as it’s all going down the left.
Perhaps Sinisalo could try punching the ball away instead of palming it.
As said, a real improvement on recent “displays”.
The lack of movement from our forwards when they have everyone back is quite worrying. Easy to mark a static player. Not sure anyone has made a near post run when Tierney or Tounetki have had the ball to cross. Basic stuff really.
Showing a wee bit more aggression than previous outings ( well, some of the players). Would love to see Mhueka get a good 30 minutes to see what we are missing up front. However , I suspect Martin won’t want to be shown up with his £11m dud.
Nice tifo
Playing well.
Good effort from Donavan
Pen check
That’s a fucking penalty!!!!
Calmac getting his mojo back. Good spell of pressure
Cheated again!
BG,
He s playing well
Ffs!
Totally dominant, with 80% possession
Didn’t think that was a pen TBF. Their keeper having a worldy.. How many times does that happen v us? Albeit, our finishing is a bit iffy too.
Yaas
Yesssss
2-0 Nygren. Right get Mhueka on now
C’mon the hoops!!!
Another keeper having a worldie 😡
Nygren 2-0, now get a third.
Good unselfish play by Hogh.
Should have been 3-0
Baur hits the baur!
Duran really wasteful
Unfortunately we are carrying too many passengers . Hogh Negrens in particular . Baur playing very well . Murray weak play again , goal Negrens still not seen much of him . Overall missing too many chances
Duran should have made sure of the points there
Hogh is a big donkey. We’re just gonna have to face it.
Motherwell have woken up.
Need to stop allowing runners to go unmatched
Duran and Tounekti have to work harder
Mothers attacking now.
Back to panic defending 🤬
Need a third.
beautiful pass from Donovan , shame Hogh was on the end of it!
Great hit by Cal – corner us
Better performance overall. Would like a wee bit less ball watching at the back. As BAD said earlier, you have to match runs.
Jota coming on
Callum again not following a run!
Wo o ow o he’s gony score a goal Jota on the wing la la la la la la la
The prodigal son
Jota so close to an assist immediately
So close from Hassan
Hun masterclass in the middle today. Has given us absolutely nothing.
Baur is absolutely magic ..big fan
Trying to walk the ball in too many times
