Its the Final Countdown!

Morning,all.

I’m an avid lover of Planet Rock, the channel that stole my record collection. I’m quite open about it,I like my old stuff. Still got my six piece Pioneer stack in the living room and my four piece Technics in my bedroom. Only one of them has a turntable,so only one of them gets played much.

And it’s getting played a helluva lot more often,as I fill time these days.

But filling time, reading the books that I’d bought but not read, that’s fine I suppose. It’s not really,it’s boring the tits off me,but I’ll be fine. Others will struggle more than me. Some people, for instance, are wondering where their next paycheck will come from.

That, unfortunately, includes a number of our star players.

Now,the Kieran Tierney interview a couple of weeks ago threw up a few intriguing points, the most glaring of which was that he was being “asked” to play despite obvious injury problems. Brendan Rodgers in particular should have been alert to these, his own career being ended by injury at a devastatingly early stage. But no,he persisted. And so did Kieran, until he woke up to the fact that the referees wouldn’t protect him,and shamefully so,neither would his club.

Captain your country one week, get kicked f..k out of the following week? Sod that,I’m off. And I don’t blame him.

The most interesting point was that other-more senior-pros,warned him against it. You can call them sicknotes if you like,or even wage thieves. I know I wouldn’t be too keen on turning up for work and getting hit with a lump hammer. And I reckon that most people who know me would be worried about the consequences if they did.

Which brings me back to the topic of the article. I can assure you that if that particular track ever comes on a radio near me,it gets switched off. Two bars, aff. Which reminds me,CELTICCHAMPSELECT Top Ten Tracks will be on the next International Saturday,so get the thinking caps on.

Aye,the article.

Four weeks today,we will know who is in and who is out. If I’m honest,I’ll say it’s been a good window for us so far. If I’m brutally honest,it hasn’t. We took about six weeks to get our two big signings over the threshold, despite them being exceptionally keen to sign up. That is not good management, nor planning, probably cost us the chance of progressing to the next stages of the Champions League.

Aye,I know. It’s a euphemism. But there ye go,it is what it is. And it is what it is without us yet again.

So who are we going to sign in the next four weeks? Difficult one,as I think our business is done, bar a project or an out of left field where did he come from a la Lubo. Our big problem isn’t the fellas coming in,hail our new heroes,it’s the other door that bothers me.

Which takes me back to Kieran. Nobody can cope with being kicked every week, certainly not at full speed. Remember that assault on Jamesie from David Healey in front of the jungle about ten years ago? The lad landed about ten yards away from where he’d been hit. I’d have been off work for a fortnight just from the landing, never mind the initial trauma. I think the weaselly Collum only booked him anaw.

So,who’s out the door? Who’s balancing the books? Who’s getting PL a kicking this time?

Well, for once,I don’t think it is PL-not directly, which I’ll come to later. I think there are players who genuinely want to leave. Not necessarily for football reasons-football reasons is all about the glory and there’s plenty of that here-and neither for financial reasons, though they won’t be going elsewhere for a smaller wage packet.

We have a lot of difficulties to overcome in this blighted land, and many of us have experiences of their own to tell. AULDHEID on Friday and MAHE on Saturday,as well as a few posters from those articles, brought these back into sharp focus, but it hasn’t gone away, you know. And nowhere is that more obvious than with Scottish refereeing standards. Witness the performance by Dallas two weeks ago,and his shameless appointment to our next match, with comment of the square root of sod all by our beloved board.

So is it any wonder that Ryan Christie wants out? Not to me,it isn’t. He’s targeted every game by the opposition-yet the only way to stop that is to make a similar challenge and be sent off on the spot! Or Big Kris, who keeps getting played in a position he is CLEARLY uncomfortable with? What about Tom Rogic? Major player for us under RD and BR,hardly kicks a ball now. I told my sister over a year ago that this would happen,NL just didnae like him, same way when he was first in charge.

And worst of all,I Wanna. I’ve heard encouraging reports that he’s found a girl but I’m not too hopeful that she gets homesick just by jumping on the bus.

My thoughts are this. All four out the door. Contracts dictate that if they don’t sign up again. But it’s not the contracts, not really. Don’t let them fool you.

It’s because they’re fed up wi getting hit wi a lump hammer every week. Same as Kieran. And I’ll wish them all well, because they are definitely going to a better place.

I think the first book of poetry I ever read was Dylan’s Tarantula. One of the greatest writers ever. When he was good, he was great. But when he was bad, he was awful. Saved the worst of his bad nonsensical lyrics and tried to pass tHem off as poetry.

When you have players in your team who the opposition find too hot to handle that’s what happens, they boot the fuck out of your players. Shitebags should try to play football instead of sitting in and kicking any one that plays decent football. It’s been happening to our players for years.

You’ve read Tarantula? That’s more than I could manage.

Good article and very true, sadly.

After the kicking we took from D Utd a couple of weeks ago at the hands of Dallas jr, we’ve got him against Ross County at the weekend.

Sometni’ stinks!

Hope you are good!

Always a pleasure to have you around, mate. Girls given you a day off from the chores? Hope all is fine and dandy with them and your good self.

Aye,Dallas again. They don’t even bother trying to hide it anymore. And the club can’t be arsed to speak out about it,fat lot of good that it would do. Biggest worry is that the game isn’t being televised so he will be able to be even worse than usual. I’m going for Broonie first booking about ten minutes and Christie sent off for his first tackle on the half hour mark.

Wonder if I can find a bookie to take that bet? If so,I’ll lob in two penalties for County.

Regular lurker!

Girls both working today.
C has been back full time for ages and O is back in 2 days a week, returns to full time in 2 weeks.
I’ve just restored my dining room ( C’s office) to it’s original state. Piled all her stuff in a corner, she’ll be pleased!

I don’t understand why the club does not complain about rotten refereeing.

When did Collum last referee a meaningful huns game?

I wish someone there would grow a pair!

Good morning all from Govanhill. Luncheon and cocktails with Mrs BRRB in star bar later. It’s a hard life. 😜

So according to Auntie Beeb Boris and the Brit government is to bring in Parliamentary legislation that will negate their agreement with EU about checks on the border in Ireland. Looks as if there is going to be no sea border after all! That means that the only logical alternative is checks at the border in Eire – a ‘hard Border’ in other words. A friend reminded me what an old British diplomat, who lectured in Coleraine, said

“Sign any international agreement you want to, then do what you want, because they are not worth the paper they are written on”
This has been the Brits stance throughout history.

If indeed the Brits plan to ignore the good Friday agreement i doubt Irish Nationalists will sit by and watch the Brits dismantle the hard won progress of the Nationalist community of the past 5 decades.

Worryingly I am reminded of what Ivan Cooper said after the British army massacred unarmed civilians in Derry (Bloody Sunday)

” My message to the British government is that you have destroyed the Civil rights movement”. “All over this city young men and boys are joining the IRA and you will reap a whirlwind”

I for one pray that this is just the Brits trying to call the EUs bluff.

He was hacked, just as bad as up here, every game….

Maybe people don’t like left backs 😁

AFTERNOON ALL and JIM, bobby from last night, brilliant story ,my boss had a jaguar, never let me drive it tho, cant think why😎😎,another true story.

I said years ago that the Off-the-pitch problems, with the Board and the fans selling out, was that it would come back to haunt us on the pitch (leaving aside the obvious Moral problem with supporting bigotry). The zombies know they can cheat with impunity because our Board are too compromised to do anything, and the fans don’t care as long as we are winning. But, if good players Don’t trust the club to protect them, they will stop coming, or will leave sooner. Which will, inevitably, affect performance on the pitch.

big packy

MIKE, are you saying the huns are bigots, how dare you sir😎😎

Afternoon everyone and JNP. Sorry ASWGL but I think the rule is you can only nominate one special friend 🙂

Great article Bobby. You reminded me there that I reach for the dial every time a Bee Gees song comes on the radio when I’m driving. I couldn’t stand them in ’79 and I detest their sound even more now. I can’t think of any band who’s music has aged as badly as theirs. That falsetto voice just makes me cringe!

JNP I mentioned before that I have seven types of bird that frequent my garden on a daily basis. Well, I forgot one! I’ve just seen my first Robin Red Breast of the year. Even though their presence hints at the long winter months ahead, they generate an excitement in me that no other bird matches – although Kate Bush used to come close!

Is it just me who reacts this way to a wee RRB?

just thought id post this, proper music from two titans of drumming, you would have heard of buddy rich my idol, but ed shaughnessy maybe not so much, have a look. https://youtu.be/wnfYhpNa1NY

Since our cowardly board or coaches won’t call out the refereeing sanctioned thuggery we face in every match i offer an alternative.

Ha Billy Bhoy.
Yes, the Robin came top, 5 years ago, in a vote to find out the UKs favourite bird.
They don’t migrate, in the summer food is plentiful, so they are just snubbing your garden.
Here’s a song for you.

Great read. That Irish thug Connolly at Tannadice was given latitude by the bigot’s boy, to potentially end the career of Odsonne Edouard.
What did Celtic say or do about it?

Eddy starts for France U 21s….

Celtic’s transfer negotiation tactics explained.

Posh chairman Darragh McAnthony talks about Celtic’s pursuit of Ivan Toney

“They came in with their fee, half of what Brentford paid, their pitch was ‘listen, we’ll just wait to January, and in January we will pre-sign him and you won’t get a pound note.

“When you try and negotiate with me like that, all you do is f****** wind me up. I wasn’t born yesterday, I’ve been around the business a long time, that’s probably over £60m worth of transfers I’ve done since I bought Peterborough United.
“For a lower league club, that’s unbelievable business, I know what the market is, I know it’s not a fast moving market, not a massive amount in fees.

“But I also know the premium for a player like Ivan Toney should go for, trust me when I say, Brentford will either get promoted or sell him for £25-35m.

“We’ll end up with another £3-4m, down the line, you can take that to the bank. That’s a guarantee in my opinion.”

Restrictions on indoor household gatherings have been extended to two other local authority areas: Renfrewshire and East Dunbartonshire.

That must be PL’s influence. DD’s usual practice is to bribe people.

Thanks for posting that video of arguably her most stunning song. What a voice!

I actually went through to Edinburgh to see a KB tribute act. The girl was excellent. She sang that song perfectly.

Scotland playing with two left footed centre backs tonight.

A thing of beauty

Garry,
Scotland playing 2 donkeys who can kick a ball with their left foot. There, fixed that for you.

jimthetim53

Evening all & Packy,
Should be an interesting game tonight what with one thing and another. Steve Clarke certainly shaking things up a bit.

A thing of beauty

Bmcuwp,
Wouldn’t be like me to disagree with you but I don’t agree that Ajeti was desperate to sign. I think he waited to see if he could get better and then made his mind up. I said that was the way of the things with players who have no emotional connection with Celtic, we just have to get used to it.

Ajeti was quoted as saying that one of the reasons he signed, was to team up with his old Basel teammate Elyounoussi. The two worked very well as Basel’s number 9 and 10.
