Covid catches Celtic cold.
First and foremost, take care Odsonne.
The regular article addressing continued non attendance was swiftly knocked into second place late last night by the startling and extremely worrying news that Odsonne Eduoard has tested positive for the corona virus while away with the French under 21s.
That scant information opened the evening swiftly followed by the club announcing no one else had tested positive, but what little we do know leaves the support with more questions than answers.
It’s clear the teams tests came back clear, but what’s not clear is when they were taken.
Having played on Sunday one must assume pre match so Sunday morning would seem most likely with Saturday after training another option.
The point here is if Odsonne tested positive on Tuesday pm, with usually a three day incubation period before showing positive, then there’s every chance some other members of the footballing department will be found positive.
With rumours Gov wanted to clamp down on bars again to slow virus spread, a mass event at the biggest club may just be enough to push pause on the season for now.
I sincerely hope this is an isolated case and the scheduled match goes ahead, but there must be some uncertainty now.
No doubt news will break throughout the day and I guess we will all have to find out how deep down the rabbithole this one goes. Theres really no point in pages of speculation right now.
I would shrug and accept it if the only ‘punishment’ was some loss of training time plus heading into the big match with Griff and Patrik, Ajeti a hopeful.
Only yesterday I mentioned a drab draw would see us remain in purgatory, well I’m now thinking missing out on the game altogether would still see us remain in limbo regarding our form, while just heaping another few gigatons of pressure on the actual game when it does eventually arrive.
We could actually see that rare occasion of a few games against the rivals in a short period of time, free weeks being scant.
Now over to the clubs, governing bodies, and Gov to see what happens next,, each with their own agenda what could go wrong here.
Should our upcoming opponents smell blood in the water they wont help but demand it goes ahead.
Media will no doubt yell from the rooftops we must play without our star guy or any others.
And the Tims nerves, already on edge naturally, are positively shredded.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, we won’t be forgetting this year in a hurry.
