Celtic 0 – 2 Rangers

Morning,all.

It falls to me by habit and default to give you all a review of every match we play. Fuxake,I could do with a break from it after Saturday. What am I supposed to say?

Well,I could say and will, that Friday’s article was more about wishful thinking than what I really felt. I looked at the bookies prices and was desperate to take the 7/4 up to 2/1 on offer, but it’s a thing I cannot do. Even if I had done,I wouldn’t feel any better.

There was one player on that pitch who approached a pass mark, and it was Kris Ajer. And he only achieved it because he was covering for the rookie on the right, when Kris was meant to be on the left. Our defence was all over the place, our lone striker was searching deeper to get the ball than probably the ballboys, and our midfield were frankly an embarrassment

I’m not picking any one out here. I never would, because that would be the dreadful scapegoating. That’s not for me,never has been.

But…

Barkas wasn’t asked to do much. And he didn’t.

Our back three,I’m of a mind to give a pass because we really only had a back two.

Our front line,is it one or two? And if we reckon Klimala is a Brattbakk play on the shoulder type, why does he come back to the 30 yard line to try to be involved? Where’s the outball,ya prick?

Frimpers,I saw his debut a year ago. If he played like that then,we would never have heard of him again. He was so bad that the huns barely bothered fouling him. Ntcham? Dunno and don’t want to go there. Mo? Fuxake, take yer money and fuck off.

Saturday was the most embarrassing display of football I’ve ever seen. At least when we were pish in the 90s it was because, erm,we were pish.

That’s four games out of the last five that they’ve outplayed us,even if we’ve got lucky with the odd result. I’m thinking we have to consider the common dominator here.

They’ve done us since Brendan Rodgers left. Let’s not fool ourselves. Neil Lennon is not currently up to the job. Either he gets his finger out of his arse or he admits it. Lawwell will never fire him,as that would be an admission of failure.

Well, there’s failures everywhere at Celtic Park. And as ever,it is from the top down. Saturday was a long time in gestation but few of us were surprised.

At half time it was 7-1
so somethings wrong somethings not quite right. Agreed?

Chairbhoy

BMCUWPs,

It certainly was a long time in gestation. That performance did not surprise me in the least. There have been several games where we have been asked to up our game this season, we have simply been unable to.

If it were at all possible, at home on Saturday was the time to do it, we needed a lion’s roar of a response, we got a sorrowful cats wimper.

Auldheid @ 10:15 pm,

Yes, due process is important, the rigour of the set up will determine how credible an alternative is.

It was interesting seeing the comments on the facebook groups. I’d say pro and against change was 50/50 with spirits running high.

The rot at the top is now settled throughout the team, I can’t forsee any positive change anytime soon.

Some are saying Saturday was just one game, but it was a game that saw the bookies change the favourites for the Scottish Premier winners, a sea change moment.

No one currently at Celtic Park can change that, things will get worse before they get better, unfortunate of course but every cloud eh! It was going to take a car crash to get the supports attention.

Mrs SOLKITTS is blessed that her husband and I are such level headed people, but in her oh 35 years of knowing us,I’ll bet she’s never seen us as subdued during and after a game.

I doubt we were alone,I reckon a few of us were dreading that. It really must never happen again. Not that we get beat, but that we go into the game expecting to get beat.

McCaff

Morning all…in the aftermath of the game, despite our misery and understanding that we got what we fully deserved from the game, i’m now thinking about Morelos’ kick out at Duffy and slap at Brown and wondering if the compliance officer will view these in the same light as Christie’s tackle last season which incurred a two match suspension.

The Gombeen Man

BMCUWPS,

That wasn’t an easy one to write. Fair play for having the courage to put pen to paper.
It was the end of a torturous week and the empty stadium had a sense of finality it.
Almost like watching your own funeral.

Gerrard made his Old Firm debut in September 2018. Celtic won 1-0, through a goal from Ntcham. Sevco handed six players a first Old Firm start – Connor Goldson, Nikola Katic, Borna Barisic, Ovie Ejaria, Ryan Kent and Scott Arfield.

After the game Gerrard said “We need to get them on the training pitch and drill them.”

(He also blamed Willie Colm.)

Since that game Sevco have progressed and but for Fraser Forster’s heroics this (hopefully) rock bottom would have arrived earlier.

The scattergun, lazy, Moneyball approach is vulnerable to well drilled, focussed, professionalism.

As discussed previously Neil picked up a poisoned chalice.

We outgunned Sevco two years ago, hit the bar 4 times but our systematic behind the scenes failures already had Brendan almost out the door.

Celtic: Gordon (6), Lustig (6), Boyata (8), Ajer (6), Tierney (7), Ntcham (8), Brown (7), Forrest (7), Rogic (6), McGregor (7), Edouard (6).

Subs: Griffiths (7), Christie (6), Sinclair (n/a).

Rangers: McGregor, (8) Tavernier (6), Katic (6), Goldson (7), Barisic (6), Jack (6), Ejaria (6), Kent (6), Arfield (6), Lafferty (6), Morelos (6).

Subs: Candeias (n/a), Middleton (n/a).

Man of the match: Olivier Ntcham

Chairbhhoy,

Thanks for the comments last night I watched the Facebook page you posted and got a lot from it… Haven’t got to the book yet.

Anyway,

These value judgements that we all make so quickly and unconsciously create such havoc. It’s interesting sometimes just to have an awareness of how often we make them.

“He is…”

“She is.”

“They are.”

Paddy-Thustra’s concern was…What happens when the false bubble bursts and the illusory belief system that sustained so many is revealed to be a fraud?

The irony of the Old Firm taking the knee on Saturday was stark.

Maybe one day the penny will drop that the Taig-Hun axiom is born out of the same toxicity as any other form of racism/discrimination?

Awe Naw

G64,

So we don’t need to pay for John James articles attacking Neil.

If its not worth paying for it must be even more tosh than normal.

The three Celtic blogs I used to visit CQN, Field of Dreams, JJ have all been destroyed by the pursuit of money for their articles either directly or through advertising. No longer worth visiting as the content is pish

Awe Naw

On the occasions when I wish to be read by a wider audience, including the Celtic board, I will publish free to air. Comments however will remain the exclusive preserve of members and temporary members. Today’s follow-up will be for members only. JJ

FIRST CLASS WANKER .. anybody giving this guy money is an even bigger wanker

McCaff

Awe Naw, I couldn’t agree more. JJ used to be the go-to site but his material hasn’t changed in 2 years and his brazen prostitution is embarrassing. And his opinions always carry an alternative scenario for him to fall back on if his primary call fails. He knows how to write but the same old same old is wearying!

Rebus67

Awe Naw and McCaff,

I agree on JJ but he is not the problem worthy of discussion.

Rebus

Awe Naw

Rebus67,

so why not address the guy that posted the link ?

p.s It´s not Neil Lennon either

BOBBY MURDOCH'S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS

I think it’s fair to say that we have bigger problems to discuss than John James-actually,I have a lot of time for the guy, take that how you like-and a need to look more deeply into our own abyss.

Today’s article was and only could be about the debacle on Saturday.MAHE and I as a matter of policy do not discuss articles in advance,we both write as we see fit at any particular time. Each of us has maybe taken a kid gloves approach over, say, the last-eighteen months,as we know that the eyes are on the big picture. Now don’t get me wrong, nine months ago,it was this site that broke the final lie of the fraud that was the 5WA

BUT individually and you guys collectively have massed behind the troops, get this over the line, deal with stuff later. The problem is that the people who actually CAN make a difference, aren’t. And either they’re not bothered or they don’t know how to.

In which case,we have to ask questions about motivation. Two,in fact. Neither of them pleasant.

Why are they not motivated enough to make us better?

Why are they not motivated enough to be less pish than them?

If the answer to the second one is also the answer to the first one, that they only planned to be less pish than them and miscalculated, then I honestly don’t know where we go from here.

And if the answers are different, that actually they’ve been doing their best, they deserve the bullet for being a bunch of incompetents.

Make no mistake,as I said earlier. We’ve watched a slow motion car crash, and all the while we trusted the driver. Yes,plenty of us suggested taking the wheel, but in a real world we can only be back seat drivers.

So the question remains. Was Saturday…

Accident or Design?

I spent the weekend with my best pal and his wife. I took him to his first Celtic game in 1982. His kids and grandkids are Celtic daft, which ain’t that easy in his neck of the woods. He gets Celtic, the same way we do,and so too even his grandkids.

Nearly forty years.

Never once have we seen a Celtic team perform so badly that we couldn’t see a goal in them. Well, until Saturday that is.

BMCUWP,

Exactly at some point the huns have to win silverware. It is in our PLCs interest as Res 12 perfectly demonstrates. Nobody can deny. This WWF malarkey isn´t easy. It´s a tough balancing act. One that BR didn´t buy into but NL this time around does. I wonder why ? The assumption that he´s washed up tactically inept I don’t personally buy. The attacks on his character and physical appearance I find disappointing. His demeanour .. I have no problems with and lead the charge on here early season after the Killie draw. See my post yesterday evening regard NL away European record written a month before covid. NOT ONE REPLY

In fact over the weekend I got very few replies to my posts and none of my arguments countered. Not because they were crap but nobody could be arse putting in the time and effort and just wanted to seethe. Understandable im my opinion but just seems like rage at the performance and not beating Sevco. If that game was March next year then Lenny would not have gone for a draw.

We are what we are. We are behaving exactly like our PLC. We want our cake and we eat it. If we are willing to accept a PLC that behaved criminally to protect the Old Firm model then what other machinations are going on? I can´t be that naieve and confine it to just …beating the huns… In the last 3 OF games NL started with a rookie striker up front when he had other options. It is a fait accompli not but that is what we will officially spin it as. 3 birds with one stone. Keep the hun clientele happy without having won anything. Save the players for Europe on Thursday and for the SC semi coming soon up afterwards. I bet Ajeti and Griffiths along with a few others were very surprised that one of the more experienced strikers didn´t at the very least start. VERY LUCRATIVE Coefficient points and securing the quadruple treble is far more important to the coffers for this financial year than overhauling a 1 point deficit for next financial year.

Hey but let the Neil Lennon witch burning continue. Even if he has accepted the PLC stance i.e he´s believed a lie .. he wont be the first or last one. Sound like a hun here …he deserves better 🙂

I still think we will win the quadruple treble and ten in a row but not the quintuple treble much to everyone´s delight, except those that have got used to it being a procession. I think we will go further in the EL this year (one more round) . Battles wars etc.

AWENAW

I was out of circulation over the weekend, just enjoying, well, just enjoying.

We don’t post articles or comments simply to elicit a reply,at least I think we don’t. We do it because we have somewhere to do so,and in the hope that maybe someone will take it on board and just think. For me,timternet has never been about getting a response,I’m not the whoa loadsa followers type,it’s more about saying what I want to say-which I never could before-and hoping that it makes a difference.

People will tell you that nobody changes their mind by reading or posting on sites like ours, and that isn’t why we set it up anyway. But everyone is always open to an education or a different approach. And then, when the facts change…

Awe Naw

BMCUWP,

It´s difficult to debate on that forum .. especially the made up stuff that´s wrong. Shouting and not reading the blog makes it more difficult to debate and decreases the quality of the blog in my opinion, but its more hits and that’s the road CQN went down. I know its just rage after an historically inept performance but generally less debate will happen during those periods … I was going to say worthwhile but who am I to say that. I enjoy the blog so wait a while before banning me 🙂

The Real McCoy

Mahe I only know of Portland via the tv show Stumptown, a private investigator drama. Comedic in parts for me.

Stumptown is a nickname for Portland, Ore., which in the mid-19th century was dotted with the stumps of trees where they had to clear land to expand. Now it’s a modern town that hosts hipsters and shade-grown coffee-sippers and a troubled private eye named Dex in a new series on ABC.

Portland has been affectionately referred to as “weird” for decades – perhaps because it has the most strip clubs per capita in the nation or the high prevalence of man buns and mustaches.😂

While it is relatively safe in town, there are times you are better off not walking around. Portland has the added problem of people who belong in mental facilities walking around loose so you can never be sure about who you are dealing with.
🧟‍♀️ 🧟‍♂️

Portland is a Great City to Live In

First of all, there’s a reason why people keep moving to Portland: it’s an amazing city. You can drive an hour west to get to the ocean or an hour east to be in the mountains. Portland is renowned for livability, food and drink, arts and culture, and much more. 👏👏

Bon Voyage Fhella 🤞🙏🏻

Accident or Design?
=======================
In a league where integrity comes from its leadership that final question would not have reached a keyboard anywhere, but whilst it takes an under par performance like Saturday to start the blame game, that starts with the manifestation of confirmation bias that NL was the wrong guy from the start (in spite of his positive record since appointment) it does work its way upwards to The Board and the policies they adopt and crucially why?

Aw Naw will remember engaging with me back in 2009 on whether we tossed away the title that year not signing Steven Fletcher and whilst I thought then it might be possible to keep Rangers alive, I could not bring myself, without evidence to accept that it might have been so, but I never understood why a team that mastered Rangers in the League Cup Final was incapable of sticking to the team that did that, even though makeshift, and play JVOH, who was well off form on return from injury. Fletcher might have won us that title and sent them into insolvency in 2009.

Well for some current evidence lets look at the 5 Way Agreement and accompanying side letter that excused Sevco from sanctions because of non compliance of rules by Rangers, except for their use of ebts and side letters, which became the sham that is the Lord Nimmo Smith Commission that gave legitimacy to the idea no dishonesty involved in their use, allowing retention of titles.

This was something made only possible by excluding those DOS ebts with side letters where evidence of dishonesty existed but was suppressed, enabling LNS to equate already unlawful DOS ebts with the then not yet unlawful BTC ebts.

So you could argue Celtic did right accepting the 5 Way if they were accepting that the LNS Commission would act in good faith. However when presented with evidence in 2014 it had not, Celtic and the SPFL) did nothing with that evidence.

I had to get the ebt part of the 5 Way out of the way first to make room for suggesting Celtic’s behaviour on Res12, particularly from May 2018 was constrained by what they accepted in 2012.

Under the 5 Way agreement only Rangers use of ebts/sideletters could be open to enquiry. All else fell under what Craig Whyte did from 6 May 2011, anything before then, whether Celtic were aware of it or not (the skulduggery in March /April 2011 when the licence was granted) meant there could be no investigation into the grant period as that came under SDM’s tenure.

Res12 started life because of evidence of skulduggery by CW during the monitoring period from June to September, which explains the vexed question why the charges of non compliance re the UEFA licence process in 2011 did not cover the grant period in March/April.

In May 2018 after the charges were made Celtic were asked to explain why, given CW court testimony relating to the grant period that was excluded, but with no answer. Then came a break, hard volunteered evidence emerged that a PAYABLE no longer in dispute or under discussion and not a potential liability existed pre 31st March 2011, but the basis on which the licence was granted was there was no payable just a liability under discussion.

Celtic would not act on this evidence, requiring Res12 requisitioners to put the question to the SFA in June 2018 at expense of private funding, questions which to this day have not been answered by SFA or Celtic to whom the lawyers letter was copied.

My point in presenting this?

Whether it is by accident or design, integrity has to be restored at Celtic, but it will not until it becomes more important than beating Rangers and them beating us might just open folks eyes enough to say enough is enough.

I can well understand the reluctance of those paying good money to watch Celtic play football to concentrate on anything else but that , they are where I was in 2009, but the evidence is now here in the shape of the new Res Phil reported and if we use it to restore integrity with for example domestic FFP (that should have been a condition of sale to Sevco in 2012) Celtic will continue to win more than we lose, but when we do all the post match angst would disappear knowing we won or lost honestly in an honest competition where Europe is our stage at whatever level good economic and modern football practices allow.

==================
The support need to be organised to present a unified voice and I see Res12 being the catalyst for that to happen. I’m hoping others do.

What I would say about Celtic’s strategy since 2012, is it not only kept the lights on, it kept pockets full with less effort than it would take to modernise as a competitive European club. Indeed keeping the competitive gap between ourselves and “Rangers” bridgeable arguably has set us back.

The wheels of the plan to rely on the match day experience as the means of providing our bread and butter have been derailed.

The underlying moral hazard that CL rewards going only to the title winners only causes needs addressed, especially if losing the title this year puts us on the slippery slope Rangers depended upon under SDM.

So much rethinking to do both inside and outside CP. Thing is are we organised inside and out to do it?

I share Paddy-Thustra’s concerns but am optimistic it will be nothing to fear.
