Danger in Dingwall
‘Be careful what you wish for’ is often said in regards to football, well this weekend affords the opportunity for the old saying to come true again.
Brendan’s team formation has truly came under the microscope since the team stopped firing on all cylinders and suffered a humiliating defeat.
Well, that formation is going out the window today up in Dingwall, something different must emerge as we cannot fall back on the usual.
Can’t play a style geared towards wing players if you don’t have them fit and available.
The situation is incredible, 4 wingers unavailable at the same time, I cannot recall such a thing. Ross County must be rubbing their hands with glee, but for Celtic change also brings opportunity.
There’s 3 options,
Yang and a youngster wide and try to play 4-3-3 as normal as possible.
Kyogo on the left with Adam upfront.
Switch to 4-5-1 with 4 central midfielders plus Yang or just a plain old 4-4-2 with 4 central midfielders across the park.
Option 1, a kid gets his dream chance and so does Yang, again.
Option 2 offers the opportunity (at last) of getting a partnership between Adam and Kyogo.
Option 3, if a forced tactical switch results in a good team performance, Brendan gets a free lesson.
Change also brings the chance of not adapting sufficiently, I recall an earlier game when several new faces were brought into the starting lineup and the result was disappointing.
It was already going to be a tough game in the freezing cold, only two days rest and recovery after the Tangerines, and it would be easy to say the footballing God’s haven’t been kind through our numerous injuries,,we will soon find out.
There’s a (good) chance events like this kickstart some player acquisitions, given the gulf in class from Maeda to Palma, Kuhn to Yang, another wide man was always on the agenda, and now the sales and loans have genuinely started there’s funds and room available. One for each flank would be nice if not sensible.
So while there’s definitely danger in Dingwall, Celtic are fortunate these particular 3 points aren’t absolutely critical as others shot themselves in the foot. I’d love nothing better than come tonight, posters are demanding we stick to that style, the formation which brought about a positive change of play.

Last year, our charity drives raised over £4000 for deserving causes. You are truly a wonderful collective, giving selflessly to others in need.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
The bulk of the money was split fairly evenly between our two nominated causes, which were
Lanarkshire Cancer Care Trust and Blood Cancer UK.
New Year, New Cause! From 1st January till 30th June, we will switch our attentions to raising funds for another source of wonderful work on behalf of those who need it most.

Once again, the donations page has been set up for us by CHALMERSBHOY, and my grateful thanks to him for doing this and so much more.

In addition to the nominated treble (see above) there is also a weekly 6-team acca. Each of us is looking for a nailed on certainty, but there’s no such thing! But we only make one selection each, and all we ask is…
If yer daft enough to follow our advice, put a quid on each for the nominated charity as well! We are still well ahead against a level stake,so it could well be worth it.
Go on,folks. A quid? What are you waiting for?

One potential dividend is we may see what Kenny has to offer, assuming he makes the bench.
That could be this weekend’s upside.
Hoping to see a couple of academy players making the bench , or even better, getting a start.
Even with 4 wingers out.
I still wouldn’t start Yang.
He is never going to make it .
Kenny is 74 in March
still worth a go tho’

problem solved ☺️
Good morning friends and a Big Happy Matchday to all who post or lurk on this fine site.
My hope for today’s team selection is that Brendan doesn’t play anyone out of position. So no McCowan on the right wing, for example. Introduce somebody new OR change from the normal formation. Personally I’d prefer 4 4 2 today but we’ll see….
Today is a fantastic opportunity to see actually how Rodgers tactical intentions are really all about?
Luckily as the result has no bearing whatsoever upon our league title.
So it’s a case of whether we stick to 433, which will involve having to play players out of position, especially later within the game?
Or with a free hit today, trying something different?
Managers in general don’t usually change team set up and style, especially with so little preparation time, for the adjustments to be understood within the team?
That is the case today, but will feel that an opportunity would have been missed, if change wasn’t introduced imo?
Hopefully change is introduced, especially with possibly Kenny and Cummings added to our squad today?
If such youngsters are going to be given an opportunity, then hopefully a style can be introduced to give them the best possible opportunity to shine?
Would possibly mean a 2 striker approach introduced, and well able to do the target man and striker going beyond approach, that was so popular back in days gone by.
Still plenty of support options behind a front 2 is available also, and wouldn’t effect our approach taken, with subs available for ourselves also?
So is Rodgers actually prepared to introduce change into a match, where the result is irrelevant to ourselves?
Hopefully so, as would be a fantastic opportunity discarded today, which would be disappointing, even if a great win was achieved imo?
Weather saying -8 in Dingwall rising to a balmy -5 at kick off. Biggest threat might be frostbite. Assume they have under soil heating or this won’t be on.

The sudden raft of injuries have suddenly made this a far more interesting game than any of us were anticipating.
With Kenny added to the squad, and the fact that he has been playing and scoring regularly, there’s no reason why we shouldn’t see all 3 strikers involved today – and hopefully two at a time!
It probably won’t be a stroll in the park. They are unbeaten in 4 and have just won 3 in a row away for the first time ever so they’ll probably play with a bit of confidence.
I’m crossing my fingers for a 3-5-2 but not holding out too much hope. However, our 15 point lead has given us room to experiment especially as the “invincible” season has gone.
https://scottishfsa.org/chairmans-blog-10-01-25/ Andys Sting. Growing our own.
If I were BR I would be thinking carefully about playing younger players with no first team experience from two aspects:
Would they weaken the team?
If so how would that event affect them?
Say a poor game, do they get filed under useless not Celtic class and hardly play again.
Say the opposite do they become the next great hope but are in Mikey Johnstone category?
In short how understanding and dare I say it forgiving will the support be today?
We’ll see.
Not sure if true but I’m hearing Ibrox press conference at 11 am.
😱
I think I have seen every possible formation and line-up suggested over the last few days.
The latest suggestion of starting with a 3_5_2 formation is interesting.
3_5_2 or 3_4_1_2.
Kasper.
AJ.
C-V.
Auston.
Arne.
Calmac.
Bernie.
Luke or Alex
Reo.
Kyogo.
Adam.
If we lined up 3_4_1_2 it would allow us to get the majority of our ballers on the pitch together at the first whistle.
It’s just great to have a manager who you trust to always find the right answers to any questions.
This is normally quite the test for us.
With RC being on a good run of results, hopefully they feel confident enough to go toe-to-toe with us making it a better, more open game
Still fancy us strongly.
0-3 the Tic
Looks like the usual 433, with Kyogo playing wide
16roads,
It’ll be their new CEO.
Is it Paddy Stewart? 🤔
😯
He’s still gonna go with the 4-3-3!
😂 😂😂😂😂😂
Square pegs.
Incredible.
BAD – Thought they were going to gas the Waffle, then I remembered they can’t afford to sack him.

Allso read about presser at Ibrox. Probably trying to pacify the Onion Bears before they protest tomorrow as I would expect TV coverage of any protest if game televised. Not a good look for new man.
Auldbhoy67 – Shambles of a club.
They just need to fold and be gone for good.
Be doing themselves a favour and everyone else.

Looks like Ross going with 5 in midfield. You would think they what formation we were going to play
That pitch is cutting up and they are only training on it!
Rodgers explains front pairingpublished at 12:12 Greenwich Mean Time12:12 GMTRoss County v Celtic (12:30)
Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers explains why he has gone with both Kyogo Furuhashi and Adam Idah this afternoon.
“Kyogo actually, I think initially, came in here as a winger,” he tells BBC Scotland.
“Today, he won’t be on the outside all the time because that’s not the profile of a player he is. He’s not a one-v-one player that goes past people that way.
“He more links from the inside. When you’re playing against a back five as well, the pressing role is much higher up the pitch rather than having to track anyone.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing how they adapt. It doesn’t matter how good you’ve been in your previous games coming to here, tight little ground, tight little pitch, it’s always a challenge.
“It’s about the mentality of the team as much as that sort of tactical idea. You’ve got to really commit to the game.”
Sitting in usual seat in Irvine CSCC👍

Terrible state of pitch?
Another plan to try and beat us? We’ll see.

And we are aff ⚽️
Yang playing wide left, nice footwork.
Arne telegraphed that shot, but at least he tried.
idah just misses.
Next one Adam!
Idah played in by Kyogo. Better luck next time I hope.
Idah just past after great take from Kyogo.
Good crowd in Dingwall.
Kyogo started well.
AJ just misses, but offside.
Another near thing from AJ.
Save from AJ close-in flick.
Looks as if AJ is playing right wing
We’re playing well here.
Anyone know the formation?
It looks like a 4-1-4-1 if there is such a thing.
Crowd in good voice, despite the chill.
Valle and Yang not on same page yet, but promising.
Our efforts to get the ball back quick are brilliant
84% possession
That was never a foul by AJ.
No way is that a FK!!!
County just miss.
RC should have scored
County go close.
Formation in possession looks like 2- 1-4-1-2 and a 3-5-2 without. It’s so fluid it could be anything really.
FFS Trusty almost sells a goal.
Just feckin clear it 🤬
