The never ending story
Cor blimey that was a Rollercoaster of a Cup tie, but we march onwards and hopefully upwards. Aim achieved, let’s hope Wednesday brings more of the same.
I’m increasingly of the opinion Celtic need a jolt, like the one last January delivered,,a few fresh faces and more competition for starting berths. But a jolt can arrive in other ways, kudos to the poster who remarked we are as likely to get a doing than hand one out.
Our reaction since Dortmund, our reaction since Ibrox, has been professional, stinging defeats did not derail us and we responded to defeat with subsequent victories. I like what I see as far as team unity goes, I like the fact they celebrate heavily as a group, and I admire the fact this bunch truly tend to turn up when needed, those Champions League points and commanding lead, the Cup, none of those came easy but were earned out on the field of play.
Well, they’ve earned a spot in the 5th round, earned the right to be in contention to go through in Europe.
By supporting our club you’ve earned the right to experience this colossal week and the highs and lows it might deliver, to witness a part of our history being written live.
Kilmarnock are now in the past, and history will record a home win, but there was much more to the story. We write our own story some bloke once said, the latest chapter was certainly fascinating, and we are approaching the stage were the grand plot is unveiled, either genuine heroes or valiant contenders shall emerge, our season to date is one hell of a page-turner. As the page slowly turns to the next, perhaps the defining chapter as the bigger picture gets laid out, I await with giddy anticipation. Sign of a good story.
We are very fortunate in that regard, to follow a team that gives us glory and plenty to talk about, to follow a club that has a history that would make you cry and has put itself into the position to rise up the football pyramid through wholly legitimate means. It’s taken many steps including the slow lane, the old one step back for two or three steps forward routine worked out,,from spending a fiver to be met with a tenner spent elsewhere,,from Koki Mizuno to Arne Engels on the sliding ladder of quality,,what a journey it’s been to reach this point.
We took a step of that journey at the weekend, on Wednesday we can take a giant stride.

Jobo, that’s a belting day and undoubtedly the whole stadium was having a party.

I’ve tried hard reboot, with no effect.
Any ideas?

Pity Mevin.
Thanks. Tried that. No luck.
Brighton sign Celtic’s Caitlin Hayes. This is a huge loss for Celtic, who will miss her ability in the air at both ends of the field.
IV , I blame China 🇨🇳
You’ve no missed much anyway
Another youth moves on. 19 year old midfielder Aiden Haddow, who is out of contract at the end of the season, has left to join Hearts.
I know the UEFA homegrown requirements aren’t massive, but can see this becoming an issue if the talent drain continues.
Anybody watching this inauguration.
Sexual chocolate
They certainly know how to put on a show,
The Disney characters are leaving to the tune of Tommy burns, Tommy burns, Tommy Burns.
Pitymevin… the man is a fucking fruit and nut case, a complete narcissistic fruit loop! That was like watch Dr Evil in an episode of Austin Powers!!

Interesting to read the comments re the Green Brigade and other Celtic Ultras.I’ll lay my cards on the table. I am reasonable
I have always been a bit suspicious about these groupings – a sect within the support whose members can seem to an outsider to be more loyal to themselves than Celtic itself sits uneasily with me. The khaki jackets are not universally worn but I’m not a fan of uniforms as a rule and at away games this garb is more in evidence. More selfishly I resent that they always get tickets for big games away from and at Hampden whilst I don’t
I cannot believe anyone who has been to a few dozen Celtic games in the last decade has not heard the Jimmy Bell Song which is a pathetic, childishly nasty thing indeed. But I am not sure that the GB has had it as part of their repertoire for a long time if it ever did – this effort and songs referencing the Ibrox Disaster of 1971 nowadays seem to be sung by half-cut young men walking into and out of away grounds. The GB has ‘hingers on’ and its wannabees for sure. I quite like the spectacle of flares I admit – though wonder about the wisdom and responsibility of those who display them- but the smoke bombs which are often dropped at the same time are usually produced by male children on the periphery.
I remember when I came back to Scotland in mid-2008 after spending much of the previous 3 years outside not just Scotland but Europe I noticed that to my left in Section 108 there seemed to be some attempt to generate an atmosphere – even before Henrik Larsson left the stadium could be pretty dead – and that amidst the Irish tricolours there were quite a few Palestinian flags. I wondered then whether this development was wise or good for the wider image of Celtic. The Middle East was jusr not our fight. I’ve attended rallies and marches in support of Palestine since then and have much more sympathy for the Celtic support identifying with this cause than I did 16 years ago but doubts remain in my mind all the same. As for the singing of Irish Rebel songs – and it’s not just Ultras who sing them FFS- well, I do think they are ingrained in the ‘DNA’ of the support but sometimes the line between celebrating our heritage and being stuck in the past whilst entrenching division can seem to being blurred to me. 15 minutes per game minimum of a joyless medley gets on my nerves. Maybe if the SAM song and Beautiful Sunday were dropped from the song book I’d be happier
Watching the game on Saturday match that engaged much of the crowd from the start in a way that is not always the case at home games the Green Brigade seem an irrelevance – a dull buzz in the background. When they sang about players from Celtic’s past at the recent Dundee United game it was funny for about 5 minutes but carried on long afterwards. ‘Sledgehammer wit’ as Sybil Fawlty would have described- like John Cleese the Green Brigade used to be funny. Now they do jokes to death between preparing press releases written in a style which brings to mind the work of James Traynor.
I remember twenty years ago how moribund games at home had become and we may be returning to that- the Ultras make some noise but no longer generate atmosphere. It’s quite sad but frankly I’m fed up with the Green Brigade and their ilk being the centre of attention – they’ve been overindulged but they are also blamed for things they have no control of or don’t do. I wish I could be more positive about the future

McCaff, here we go again.
Austin Powers was a good watch, that was just another sales pitch.
The superior man understands what is right; the inferior man understands what will sell.
Some Chinese guy said that 500BC
Good comment, Jimbo but as someone who’s sat in 404 since ’95 I can honestly say I do not know the song about Cooper, Smith and Bell!
Pitymevin…wise words!
Austin Powers was a parody of old comical spy films, done brilliantly. How can the President of the US of A be a parody of a parody? I dunno but he most definitely is!
McCaff he was quoting most of the Jesus stuff before he was about.
But that pesky Jesus got all the plaudits.
Trump is pure Fight Night Box Office. Loads of slogans, nicknames, putdowns, bragging etc ..
That’s why Yanks love him.
McCaff
The Jimmy Bell Song is a version of Wim-O-Weh and was belted out with some gusto 5-10 years ago especially at away games but has now largely disappeared except in the way I mentioned. I have heard song (s) which reference Cooper and Smith but I could not tell you a tune. A solo or duet on a bus
Jimbo
McCaff/San.
The people have spoken, who are we to disagree?
Democracy at its finest 👌
The Cooper song should be shouting down, it will soon end.
Jimbo67 it’s ABBA super trooper
Pitymevin
Thanks. Now you mention I think it got an airing once last seaso. I liked the blonde and the song ‘S-O-S’ but Abba were never my thing so I probably objected on aesthetic grounds anyway
Jimbo
My chrome book has gone the same way as INIQUITOUS IV with the way it displays posts. Mobile is fine for now anyway. I blame Trump
Jimbo67 there is no such thing as bad music, just different tastes.
Craig76, you take that back, he’s going to fix everything. We’ll everything apart from your chrome book.
INI IV & Craig 76
Clear the cache in your browser, should be fixed
Blog broke?

Absolutely- the taste police (my cousins mainly) are not allowed to inspect my record collection though!
Jimbo
CT should be fixed now, if you clear the cache in your browser
ASWGL,
The bottom of Page 1 still looks a mess after clearing cache on PC.
Have we signed anybody yet?
Can you try again CT, some code that was posted made our plugin throw a wobbly.
Thanks
Testing / testing / Testing …
Hopefully in time for Wednesday.

McCaff he was quoting most of the Jesus stuff before he was about.
But that pesky Jesus got all the plaudits.

I was going to say that Jesus obviously had a better lawyer … but then I remembered that pesky little thing … the Crucifixion …
so maybe Jesus didn’t have a better lawyer … just a better PR agency!
ASWGL,
Fine now, well done.
Thanks CT
I’ll not mention it was BMCUW that posted the bad code 😜
It’s like Care in Community helping out here 😊
ASWGL
all good now, and didn’t have to clear cache, many thanks
if Jesus was around today (or if Donald had been around 2000 years ago) ….
Jesus was a crook …
no he wasnt ….
well, he was convicted and crucified …
fake news ….
no, see it is in his own books ….
well, that’s only because He wanted to get caught to show that the system was rigged … Jesus came to drain the swamp
(yeah, I know he was in the desert, so there probably wasnt a swamp in the desert ….)
and apparently, Jesus (pronounced with a J) wants the border closed to stop all those imposters (who can be identified as they mispronounce their name with an H) from crossing into the chosen lands (the USA)
Mike, that’s the best post of the new term.
Once they take over Canada, do you think they might send you home? or do you know a good lawyer 🤔

A fine tune ASWGL, I miss it 😢

All joking aside, I remember driving with my family down to Florida for xmas when I was about 18. two things stand out:
McCaff
aye I’ve noticed the influx of cheap Labour stewards in recent times. The club are bang out of order if these folk are as untrained as the army of volunteers in hi-viz jackets over at Ibrox.
The Jimmy Bell song is sung to the tune of Super Trooper by ABBA – but not as harmonious.
BTW I’m just along from you in block 405 row P.
Its a great seat except that I can see the runs Kyogo makes so much better than his teammates!
Mike…reggae music and tennis, in Florida? Reggae down the beach with a bit of fitba tennis would’ve worked. What in the world were y’all thinking of? The Cars or Dire Straits would’ve been much more appropriate. 😉
BillyBhoy…I’ll stick a message on here on Wednesday and introduce myself at the game! You must’ve seen me coming in 5 minutes late a few times…still attached to the defibrillator!! 🤣
Pity
So far, Trump hasn’t threatened to strip Canadian citizens of their citizenship yet … but its only day 1.
For now, I think I’m safe. But did hear that there were huge ICE round ups today in the States …. havent seen any posts from Mahe on here today ….I’m a bit worried about our friend
all they will know is that ‘he speaks funny … must be a mexican … one of those Irish Mexicans….deport him!
Free the Mahe 1!
Just stuck on the Dundee game, the Premier Sports camera pan into an auld guy in the crowd with a TRUMP 2024 bonnet on! FFS!!
I reckon a good few of you will enjoy this
McCaff
A few games back I bumped into an old work colleague as we were going up the stairs. I accidentally wandered into 404 and took my seat. I was a bit puzzled as to why so many of my fellow fans had given their ticket away for the game until I noticed that I was further away from the halfway line than usual!
😄
Dundee 1 up in 60s, goal by Murray from a corner.
