If you’re going down, go down fighting!

I’m going to be brief for once, as there’s really nothing to say. My words mean next to nothing, Celtic will do their talking on the pitch, and no doubt give us plenty to talk about rendering a lead article virtually useless.

I don’t want this journey to end but chances are tonight is Parkheads last European foray for the season.
Chances are we get beaten.
Chances are the enormous gap in both clubs finances shows itself when the final whistle blows.
But chance itself is a fickle thing, never to be relied upon, but to be fully celebrated when it smiles on the unfavoured, the underdog, the lucky recipient. I’ve seen bigger clubs than Bayern walk away from East Glasgow stunned. Watched much better players than Harry Kane leave empty handed. Saw 11 heroes in Hoops leave European football shocked and bedazzled.

I’ve only one wish, and it’s not a win or even a draw.
It’s a simple wish.
It’s that we truly give them a proper game tonight.

If the Germans progress they progress, but I want them to be made to work for it, to be forced into digging deep.

Leave it all on the pitch Celtic, walk off that sacred turf knowing you truly gave it everything you had, and let the footballing God’s deal with the rest. If you go down, go down fighting.
We’re all behind you, you’ve made us proud.
God Bless you Bhoys.
You’ll Never Walk Alone.

There is a lot of anger but, more dangerously, increased apathy on the likes of FF which I look into in times of Ibrox distress.

The hardcore majority still have not grasped the concept of sustainability, and the impact it has on their club. New manager, regime change and They’ll be back, is their thought process.

A drop of 10k ST holders would have a huge negative impact on a business generating revenues in the £80m’s but running expenditure in the £90m’s.

Rebus,

When I said about things coming to a head, it was in no way related to anything to do with you, buddy.

When you mentioned not posting, I thought it was because of some of the more unsavoury things written by a certain poster …sorry if I misread your intentions 👍

And I only mentioned you and I crossing swords (Wish I hadn’t now) because that was kinda the last interaction (I think) we had.

As I said, I always liked reading your take on things.

Very easy to misunderstand each other when it’s just words on a wee football site.

Anyway, I hope you’re good.

Greetings all, from a snowy DC, Disunited State of Trump.

I share a hope with Jobo. At one point tonight ( and preferably more than once ), I want to hear the noise lift the roof off the stands, preferably starting in the first minute.

Things I don’t want to see include:

Us allowing Bayern to seize possession from kick off, passing it around all their players, giving everybody a touch for minutes before we get a look in.

Greg Taylor ( and to be fair, probably under instruction ) moving inside to bolster our outmanned midfield, leaving acres of space for Coman, Sane or Musiala to bore into goal from the right, much like Brest allowed Dembele yesterday.

Us committing too many players upfield for corners, leaving us exposed at the back.

Us tackling Kane without making damn sure we get the ball, as he is one of the greatest diving cheats in world football. He has developed this into an art form, without too many exaggerated antics as he hits the turf, fooling many an otherwise competent referee.

Last night I posted a Kompany presser. I have been impressed by him. He is articulate and savvy, fluent in several languages, very comfortable in front of the press, and he has the total respect of his players. I think he has learned a lot from Pep, and will go on to have a very successful career.

I watched Bayern’s 3-0 loss in Rotterdam, and as I commented at the time, it was one of the strangest, most bizarre games I have ever seen. Munich totally dominated, in every facet of the game. From memory, they had 30 shots at goal. Neuer did not have one single save to make. The Dutch scored 3 goals on their only 3 attempts. Each was the result of lightning fast breakout cavalry charges by their entire team on a change of possession near their goal.

Fantastic and almost unbelievable to watch if you were a Feyenoord fan.

I would take the same tonight.🙏

One thing in the back of my mind that troubles me is not the fact of the result but whether those idiots with flares respect the managers request and refrain from using them . I know its a big request as there’s always one but the last thing we need is beating Bayern but the headlines are about flares and how bad the whole support is.

Hi Rebus:
Best wishes for a successful visit to the orthopedic surgeon.

You do realize that when Trump annexes Canada as the 51st state, with a constitutional amendment to only allow Republican representatives, that such a visit to a specialist will require Medicare and private insurance, a substantial co-pay, a referral from a general practitioner, 2 types of ID ( one photographic ) and a credit card ( in the likely event insurance stiffs you on several charges )?

Something to look forward to, eh?🤣

Wee anecdote on the Bayern manager tonight.

Cant mind which player it was that leaked it at the time but when we had Jason Denayer on loan the players called him sevco cos they reckoned he was the new Kompany,

She is giving it tight to Sally McCoist and others of his ilk.

Over here, she would be described as a “Gutsy broad.”

Last read of the day. Tx for the good wishes. I met the Rebusette when she was 16. We had a turbulent winching for 6 years. I left for London, England and the year apart convinced each of us that we were the real deal. A midnight call from a call box in Streatham Hill station in Jan. 1970 confirmed our futures. Married in March, 1970.

She is everything to me. I hope others have a similar feeling.

BAD…thought it was a nothing, but thanks for the nod.

I have nothing to say about Celtic at the moment so best to say nothing.

All the best, tout le monde. Let me rest awhile.

Hi BAD:
Your post reminded me of watching Sammy Davis Jr. many years ago. He was recounting a tale of his pal Dean Martin landing in Toronto before a concert.

According to Davis, almost the first thing Martin saw was a giant billboard for their national Ginger Ale with the text “Drink Canada Dry!”

Said Davis, “And by God, he tried!!”

BRUGGE 1-0. Great goal. Stadium comes alive.

Watching Brugge-Atalanta, you realize that both teams are of very high quality in terms of skill, speed and technique, but the contrast with Real Madrid yesterday, even with their second choice defence, is simply startling.

Based on available data, the average price of a pint of beer in Glasgow is approximately £3.82. In Munich, the average price for a 0.5-liter beer is around €4.17.

As of February 12, 2025, the exchange rate is approximately 1 GBP = 1.14 EUR. Converting Glasgow’s average pint price to euros: £3.82 * 1.14 ≈ €4.35.

Therefore, on average, a pint of beer in a pub in Glasgow (€4.35) is slightly more expensive than in Munich (€4.17).
