Congratulations

We have the Player of the Year podium to come plus a season review so today is merely about saying,
Congrats bhoys.
We should and will hand out credit where its due, all part of calling it straight, and today that means a big hat tip to all involved but especially the key personnel that helped us hold on to our title, a grip which looked to be slipping at one point.
That point was some time ago, many games ago, and right now counts for absolutely nothing.
The trophy is exactly where it belongs and dont let anyone tell you otherwise full stop.

Heading into this season the bookies didnt have much between ourselves and Stevies squad, assembled at no little cost as always seems to happen somehow over there.
Lenny wasnt everyones choice theres no point in denying, and with the applications apparently unopened we would never know the choice, although my own preference Slaven Bilic had went public with his desire to be given the reigns.
Seeing Brendans team over the finish line and a cup final win seemed the minimum Lenny could throw his hat in the ring with, turns out it was the clincher.
Some smelt blood with open rumours and posts of Yes! on rival social media, which usually sets the nervous in the support off.

Thats a support that had been split over how much a revamp our squad needed, and when Peter spoke publicly about not a major overhaul the eyebrows where raised, along with the years old suspicions of dabbling where unqualified.
The wonderful gift of hindsight now shows us that our policy paid off, whether correct or lucky is your own prerogative but it brought home the bacon so once again a hit tip to the club.
Neil is clearly a believer in a settled team which is hard to argue with, but when one looks at the team of players we barely touched to get over the line the depth in our squad really shows.
Gordon
Jozo
Bauer
Soro
Rogic
Bitton
Arzani
Shved
Bayo
Johnson
Klimala
Theres an eleven would take points most weeks with a good bench on hand yet unmentioned also.
We are guilty of heading into next season and any qualifiers well prepared, with ready, experienced, in-house replacements for the two starters we don’t own. This takes the pressure off even though we are likely to be looking for fresh blood in goal and left wing. Deserves a well done as it feels we are never ready for our big early games.

Something I’m sure we are all grate for for, during this short yet sweet season, is the level of professionalism that been evident, especially during what is still an ugly off season.
Christmas was the time for level heads, planning and assessment.
Whilst one manager yelled into the camera for dramatic effect, the other took the lessons onboard.
One clubs break was planned and executed perfectly and we emerged with a new game plan and bonded squad despite weather.
Despite the yell, our rivals war camp sowed the seeds of their defeat. A lesson in inexperience for you can bet your bottom dollar Neil can and does draw upon the knowledge of deep you must dig to win the league title.
He emerged from the break with renewed faith in a duo up front, and a new plan to outscore the rest.
The entire key to the plan was a fit, raring, legally in the right place Griff.
It’s right there that Lenny worked his magic, knew what was needed, pulled the correct strings and had the lad primed to be unleashed to help deliver another title.
His head was exactly where it needed to be, in the game.
Well done Neil and all in the background.

I’m sure I speak for us all when I also say well done for staying silent and dignified during the recent civil war that happened to explode in our midst. Staying on the sidelines was not only smart but needed.
It takes experience to know when to shut it, and when to speak on issues.
Empty vessels make the most noise and all that.
Not much noise from our vessel recently, good and well played.
Let that war play out as a bystander only. Anything else would be a media dream.

Finally, the fans. Yourselves. All of you.
There and always there again. Got behind the gaffer once appointed whether popular choice or not, again no gtf when he fell to Cluj, nor Copenhagen. Nor in the Christmas defeat.
That trust was well repaid by our post break form, clearly title winning stuff.
The virus has brought out a sense of comradery and community in folk, blogs somewhere to turn to, full of talkative locked down Tims making the best of the situation.
The incredible sum raised in memory of Helen ( RIP ) once again shows this truly is a family.
That’s special.
That continues and hopefully always will.
Well done all, sincerely.

It amazes me how often a decision can be taken within football without feeling the need to give an explanation? I have listed below the STV outlining of the decision. Basically, it states that it would be too lengthy and expensive because the 5 Way Agreement provided some defensive structures to suit Rangers/Sevco. No explanation is given as to what these agreements were, why they exist or whether they are challengeable? It’s like 2012 is a Matrix- we did something daft back then and we forfeited all rights to deal with that club. :-

“The Scottish FA has dropped charges against Rangers over alleged irregularities in paperwork which allowed them to compete in the 2011/12 Champions League.

It had been considering legal action in the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Switzerland, but has now effectively killed off any prospect of disciplinary action over the long-running issue.

The saga began when “contradictions” were found between information in Rangers’ application for a licence to play in UEFA’s premier club tournament and testimony given during the fraud trial of former owner Craig Whyte.

Rangers claimed in the application they had no tax debts – which must be declared to qualify for a licence – but former directors said in court that the club knew they had an overdue bill.

The Scottish FA brought charges against the club, but due to the ‘five-way agreement’, which allowed Rangers to play in the Scottish Football League after liquidation in 2012, any dispute between the parties has to be heard by the specialist sports court.

An SFA-convened independent panel upheld that jurisdiction agreement 18 months ago, with the governing body sent away to consider its next steps.

After a lengthy internal review and receiving legal advice, the Hampden board has now decided to drop the charges rather than fight a lengthy and expensive legal battle.

The club were originally charged under the 2011/12 rulebook, which only allowed for a standard fine of £5,000 for breaking the rules, or a top end fine of £10,000 in extreme circumstances.

The Scottish FA hierarchy felt the costs of pursuing the case in Lausanne, which could run to six figures, were prohibitive to a charge that would merit only a maximum £10,000 fine. The board were also advised that the prospects of victory at CAS were not high.

A brief statement on the Scottish FA website read: “A Judicial Panel convened to consider a Notice of Complaint raised against Rangers FC in 2018 – in relation to alleged new evidence regarding representations received prior to the awarding of a European licence for season 2011/12 – determined at a preliminary hearing that it did not have jurisdiction to determine the matter.

“Instead, it concluded that jurisdiction lay with the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

“Following consideration of the implications of such a referral, including legal opinion, it was the board’s unanimous position that this matter should not be referred to CAS.

“The Scottish FA now considers the matter to be closed.”

European football’s governing body UEFA is unable to investigate issues more than five years old, meaning the decision has effectively brought the issue to an end.

Whyte was cleared of taking over the Ibrox club by fraud following a seven-week trial at the High Court in Glasgow in 2017. “

Resolution 12 has been dropped to appease the huns. Not in the way that you think. It’s not a bartering system. It´s not a case of ok we awarded them the SPFL so we will kill Res 12 off. It’s all Old Firm staged news management good old scottish fitba style. The Sunday morning hun new kit announcement just before Monday’s meeting was not a coincidence. It´s also part of this recent salvo. The huns know because Dave King said it. European football is a fundamental component to their business plans. That’s why they are holding off on buying a ST .. that and covid-19. The rabid null and voiders have already signed up.

No way can the SFA continue to award the huns a license to play in Europe this season with Resolution 12 still lingering when they have to do the EXACT same three monkeys act again with the SPFL´s full knowledge. THAT BOX kill off any lingering previous registered disputes of the 2011 award has to be ticked off. No question about it. What is about to happen and it is a risk worth taking to save Sevco and save Scottish football preserve income streams will be our plc´s take on it is to turn a blind eye to it and push the normal corrupt levers that we have all seen before. Brendan Rodgers sudden departure, the return of the old regime may well be the main factors in us winning 8 and 9 history will reflect. No four year sacrificial Celtic managers tenure at the altar of Old Firm preservation could be engineered this time around. That may well be the reason for the increased level of irrationality we have witnessed recently. If the SFA do manage to lie successfully to UEFA on the SPFL´s behalf we will have to obsolete the present SPFL structure. That’s what Rod McKenzie will be recommending unless covid-19 provides enough provision wriggle room after their painful Resolution 12 experiences I´d be surprised. As you guys know I love timelines. The timing off this decision and the recent presentations indicate two things. 1 The huns are a busted flush. and we are definitely in the same territory as 2011 2. They are about to do 2011 all over again

Celtic´s only possible redemption is that they have set a trap so that they can do to the same to the SFA as they have with the SPL – SPFL reform. To do that they would need UEFA approval. To do so would mean a UEFA ban on all clubs within the association. Clearly our PLC will not go there. The huns could well be playing in two UEFA competitions in parallel next season while we fail to qualify.

Same old same old

having read CQN´s leaders recently I would also reckon that this has been in the pipeline for a wee while

CELTIC PLC

(“Celtic” or the “Club”)

COVID-19 Trading Update

Celtic (AIM: CCP) provides the following trading update in light of the recent announcement by the Scottish Premier Football League (the “SPFL”).

Trading update:

Since the interim period end at 31 December 2019, and up to 7 March 2020 (last game played by Celtic), the Club has continued to deliver strong football performance including being ranked first in the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership with 80 points (30 games played), are semi-finalists of the Scottish Cup and were Scottish League Cup winners in December 2019. However, the COVID-19 outbreak in Scotland has impacted the Club’s operations and premises. Additionally, since 13 March 2020, mass gatherings including professional football matches have been postponed following action taken by the relevant authorities responding to the COVID-19 outbreak and no football has been played since.

Following today’s decision from the SPFL, it has been announced that the remaining games of the 2019/2020 Ladbrokes Premiership season will no longer be played and Celtic has therefore been awarded its ninth consecutive Scottish Premiership title, matching an historic milestone only once before achieved by the Club in 1974.

With the current outlook remaining uncertain due to the impacts of COVID-19, the Board of Celtic is withdrawing current market guidance and will look to provide an update on guidance once more clarity is known. The Club currently expects to publish its full year results in the autumn of 2020.

Funding and liquidity:

Whilst today’s decision will have a short-term impact on the finances of the Club, Celtic remains in a strong financial position through its robust balance sheet in terms of player registrations and deferred transfer receivables. Since the COVID-19 outbreak, the Board has continued to take the appropriate steps to manage its capital, other expenditure and improve cash flow, to ensure the business continues to be well capitalised and has sufficient liquidity during this period of uncertainty.

Measures include the Club’s Chief Executive, Manager, Non-executive Directors, first-team squad, executive team, and backroom staff, including Academy and Football Operation executives, volunteering to take significant reductions in salaries as well as making deferrals on a significant proportion of earnings.

Our fans and team members:

The Club would like to thank its supporters, players, staff, commercial partners and other stakeholders for their continued support during this uncertain time. Celtic remains focused on ensuring that the safety of all its stakeholders is paramount in the current environment.

The Club will celebrate the achievement of winning the Ladbrokes Scottish Premiership at the appropriate time. In the meantime the Club looks forward to the commencement of season 2020/21; news on the completion of the 2019/20 Scottish Cup; and a lucrative five-year technical kit partnership with Adidas, that will take effect from 1 July 2020, and will initially run until the summer of 2025.

Nice of the SFA to throw a wee sop to the ingrate huns by cancelling any lingering hopes of CAS involvement in the 2011 shenanigans. Pretext being that there is a clause in the 5WA agreement that precludes it.

This raises a number of questions. Like why are historic offences by Rangers FC treated differently from any by other clubs, clubs whose offences CAN be investigated? Oh,and so many more-but here’s the important one.

The biggie.

Res 12 was NEVER about bringing Rangers to book. It was about procedures at the SFA which facilitated the false accounts of liquidity to be rubber stamped and their application for the European place to proceed. Nothing whatsoever to do with Rangers or the 5WA. It was ALWAYS about the SFA,and certain people within it.

This is utterly shameful behaviour by the SFA,but you can hardly blame them for their decision. If you had the chance to investigate an alleged offence by yourself, you would hardly find yourself guilty as charged, would you? Naw,me neither.

The resolutioners wanted this taken to UEFA from a very early stage, but soon discovered that such an issue could only be forwarded by a member club or association. Celtic, for reasons that haven’t been explained, declined to follow that path, insisting that the issue be dealt with by the SFA themselves while sending the intrepid foursome down some very expensive investigatory dead ends. We will never know the truth behind all of this, but many of us can and will draw our own conclusions from it all.

There might be one small glimmer of satisfaction from it all if the whole process meant that the SFA would never be so stupid again, yet here we are in 2020 with very strong suggestions that Rangers once more do not meet the criteria for licensing.

You’ve got to hand it to them, they may not have taken our league title from us but they have certainly commandeered one of our proudest claims. They are beyond the regulation of ordinary teams and can genuinely claim to be

A club like no other.

My thinking is that our insurance will have an upper limit, and is unlikely to cover our losses during this period. It may be enough for, say, six weeks, but will not cover the six months at least before we can get anywhere near normality again.

Having said that,it would be nice to know one way or another, and the fact that no mention of it was made in the-very limited-trading update is certainly a concern.

I wouldn’t like to guess what Auldheid’s reaction to this news will be. He has, I think, not ruled out going to court in the past. His group do not have direct access to the CAS, so without the co-operation of eg Celtic then the Court of Session it would have to be. I think!
If crowd funding is required count me in! Likewise a petition.

A court case might just be the tool or spark to see significant reconstruction on football governance in Scotland.

A judicial review will not be cheap. And there are no guarantees that even a request for one will be successful. But if everyone who was interested in pursuing it donated,say,£100 I think it may be achievable.

AULDHEID and the lads required the backing of a minimum of 100 shareholders. There’s £10k right away, assuming their continued interest of course. I think it possible that we have enough concerned supporters on here to match that, though of course it isn’t a given in the current financial climate.

Add in the many readers of other sites such as e-Tims and CQN and I think the idea has possibilities. Again,we cannot second-guess or appear to railroad the resolutioners, that is not our intention. But if there is a willingness on their part,I think they will be reassured by the support that they receive.

SFTB and other comments.

What is emerging is that Rangers successors in effect got a pardon for the crimes of their predecessors so both the LNS sham and Res12 were never going to see justice done.

What is nigh unforgiveable is that Celtic, having accepted the 5 Way Agreement containing amongst other things the CAS referral clause that in effect has provided a pardon, not only refused to put the UEFA Licence issue before UEFA TWICE but insisted their shareholders follow the SFA Judicial Process, which they then refused to question after 2 AGMs, knowing all along that the 5 Way Agreement would prevent justice being served.

The SFA have now in effect turned the spotlight back on Peter Lawwell personally whose record of deception in terms of saying something to give the impression of being on shareholders side in the pursuit of justice and a reformed SFA, in fact did nothing to follow up when hard evidence was provided, which is exactly what I said with a few sfa expletives deleted included at one of the meetings with the Company Sec about three years go. (I think Morrisey missed it Mags but he would have been proud of me).

The SFA have put Celtic and the governance of Scottish football direct in the spotlight by their statement without an explanation for closing the matter.

Closure will be obtained if an explanation that sets out whether the licence was processed within the rules in 2011 (and there is one about telling the truth) that there was no breaches of two Articles governing overdue payables OR the other Article requiring Rangers to notify the SFA of any change in circumstances since they granted the licence on 19th April 2011. A change which happened on 20th May six days before UEFA were notified of Scottish clubs to whom licence had been granted.

All else is avoidance.

Anything less is dereliction of duty by the SFA to carry out their responsibility to administer THEIR judicial protocol on which the credibility of Scottish football depends.

When supporters buy an ST for loyalty reasons what assurances can clubs give that the rules on which the game depends are being upheld without fear or favour when Petrie an architect of the 5 Way Agreement can sit as Chairman on The SFA Board that have decided to stop investigating the basis of the decision by the Licensing Committee that Petrie chaired in 2011?

Celtic still are answerable to their shareholders at AGMs, which is where this will go next unless they make a statement either that no deception took place and support it or that it did, but in the long term interests of Scottish football they will not pursue the compensation that the evidence at https://www.res12.uk/ suggests they are entitled to seek.

It matters nought that any resolution gets voted down at an AGM, that is the place where CEOs and Directors are held accountable to shareholders and if it reveals beyond reasonable doubt that shareholders were lied to from 2013, then The Board may still remain in a job, they may be great business men (earning a few bob ) but their continuing presence will rob Celtic of any claim to be more than a club, the emotional tag that drew me back to Celtic after years of enjoying watch my kids play football.

The Boyd sisters might be the most inspirational siblings in history.

Pattie was Serially involved with, and the subject of songs by, George Harrison (“something”), Ronny Woods (“breathe on me”), and Eric Clapton (“Leyla”).

Her younger sister, Jenny, was the inspiration for Donovan’s Jennifer Juniper, and was also the inspiration for songs by Mick Fleetwood (she even wrote songs for Fleetwood Mac, which were credited to her husband). Although I don’t know of any songs he wrote about her, She later married Ian Wallace, the drummer for King Crimson, Bob Dylan and the Travelling Wilburys, which band included, of course, George Harrison.
