Ranting Raving Ragers
Morning,all.
Much as we complain about the hectic fixture schedule, it is rather nice to get a wee break in midweek for once. A chance for the players to ease the tired muscles, bones and mind. For the coach to do some coaching. For the manager to have some longer chats with the squad, individually and collectively, about the way forward. Particularly for those relentless next six weeks when we are back to the grind.
Of course, that leaves the likes of myself with a bit of a problem. Like what the hell to talk about! Fortunately, Santa arrived early this year, with a bag of belly laughs slung over his shoulder. And I just love Santa,me…
Once again, the club who are “always cheated never defeated” have rolled out the quintessential statement, this time in the form of an official complaint about the officials on Sunday. Nope, not about the standside linesman’s unique interpretation of the laws of the game, not even about the general competence of the officials on the day. About one incident-a contentious one,I’ll grant you-which has snowballed into a list of petty grievances as long as your arm.
No mention, of course, of the many more reasons for Celtic supporters to be unhappy with the officials on the day. That, after all, is to be expected. Nope, one decision. Which in my opinion the officials got correct anyway! Early in extra time,Cerny picked up the ball near the corner of the box. A sharp turn inside took him away from Scalesy as both tussled each other for the ball. Jersey tugs on both sides, but there was a very obvious one by Scales. Which is where the argument begins.
Was Cerny inside the box at the time? Was his momentum taking him into the box? The answer to both is no. But that hasn’t stopped the hun tears-of rage and frustration at not winning-from flowing freely on every section of the media, and from every R2ngers fan you are stuck beside in the pub or workplace. There are even suggestions that Beaton has a history of poor decisions like this, but these have the merit of actually being true. Just that for once, his favoured team were on the thick end of one!
Yet I’ll repeat-it wasn’t a wrong decision. The tug was outside the area while he was travelling slightly away from the box as he tried to get the ball onto his left foot. Feeling the tug, he fell in the opposite direction. That isn’t a penalty, indeed a case can be made for a yellow card for simulation. Beaton didn’t think it was a penalty, and neither did Muir in VAR as he pored over every available angle.
However, this raises another question. Why did two officials with well-known affection for the Ibrox side not award the penalty this time, when previous experience tells us that they would have swallowed their whistle/remote control in their rush to do so? I hesitate to suggest that it is the work of the fabled Unseen Fenian Hand, but is there a larger “conspiracy” taking place here?
Let me wind you back to the beginning of last season. Beale was under the cosh after blowing the league. Suddenly the heavy flow of penalties in favour of R2ngers dried up. Bullet for Beale,in comes his Belgian equivalent-et voilà, normal service resumed! Is it likely that executives at the other SPL clubs, spooked and scunnered by those famous anomalies on the subject, dropped a line to Collum and his bosses about smartening up their act? Upon pain of many other past examples being revealed?
Fast forward to the beginning of this season. Again the flow of penalties have dried up. Sunday was far from the first occasion that officials have declined to give them the expected decision, the type of penalty that only they get, that we have all become so used to over the years. With Sunday being only the latest example.
I dunno, it’s only an idea. I genuinely haven’t a scooby about why Beaton and Muir went against every fibre of their being, against their every precedent, by ignoring it. But I suspect that there are more likely explanations than both being undercover Celtic supporters.

Hun social media now howling for a cup replay using a case in Belgium as a
precedent.
You see when our PLC do their usual 🙈🙉🙊, they only encourage this nonsense 🙄
Edited that bloody spell checker strikes again….
Still flummoxed by what he did here, but thanks to The Guardian Daily newsletter for offering another four views of it.

Really enjoyed watching that again. Very savvy of Jamesie to find him with the perfect pass. And look how happy the wee man is! We need to have a strategy for finding his perfectly timed runs more often.

Replay that game – Celtic would wipe the floor with them.
See they’re also calling for the introduction of foreign refs. 🤣🤣
Pity there won’t be any Celtic fans @ the Hate Factory,it would be funny if the Celtic support all showed up wearing tin-foil hats.
There will be no replay. To do so would set a precedent where all “honest mistakes” resulted in games being replayed, and goes against the most basic law of the game – the referee’s decision is final.
Some posters on here may recollect me mentioning that we lack a free kick talent.
No? Well, I have, honest.
For your entertainment, here are 11 stunners from Haklan Calhanoglu for 3 teams in the Bundesliga. He has carried on doing this for AC Milan and now Inter.
20 yards? 30 yards? 40 yards? No problem whatsoever to this guy. Like many of Messi’s free kicks, the keeper knows where it’s going, but still can’t reach it. Watch world class keeper Neuer’s frustration after it zooms past him.
We should have someone like Bernardo practicing trying to do this for an hour a day.
From memory, I can only remember one of our players (Palma) doing anything remotely like this, and it was once only.
Enjoy these. They are simply spectacular.

Afternoon all
I read Collum’s remarks re the penalty that was not. I have yet to see any footage which definitively show a mistake was made – which is not to say one was not- and if anything many angles I’ve seen suggest the right call was made. I always disliked Collum – the eyes in the back of his head trick remains unforgiven- but his remarks today are the craven appeasement of a weedy shitebag.
it is extraordinary that this incident has led to most severe condemnation of match officials in Scotland ever by their own kind. At least James Callaghan was quite obviously wrong to not send off John Hughes all those years ago. Will the refs strike at two of their own being hung out to dry as they did 14 years ago? My breath is not held.
As for the in incident I hope Brendan Rodgers has had strong words with Scales. Lamentable technique, poor judgement and panic in the space of seconds.
If the SFL/SFA order a replay I would pay to see the melting down of the trophy live on Celtic TV before it is returned to Hampden. And unlike Sol Kitts I do not see the possiblity of a replay as being unlikely. These are extraordinarily unpleasant times we live in.

HI magua if your lurking, just to let you know Joan has been referred to the pain management clinic at warrington hospital ,she gets a zoom call every wednesday 11 till 1 but she can speak to other people in the same pain bracket if you get my drift, FFS zoom calls, when I was growing up that would be startrek or lost in space the robinson family😎 but hey on a Wednesday I can go to my fav chippy in frodsham for my lunch ,speaking of frodsham, hi Bob hope you and D are OK would luv to meet up one day.another true story👍
If Collum had any spine at all, he would have asked the program producers to review all the games major incidents, and commented on whether before the penalty/non-penalty incident, should R2ngers have been playing with 10 or even 9 players prior to extra time. Instead of playing to the media and hun outcries.
In one of his last reviews he said not every shirt pull is a foul, but when it’s to appease the hun hordes, this one is.
Anyway the official statement is “they should have had a penalty”….. and never got one… delicious
The most interesting aspect of the whole Line-gate fiasco is the tweet that everything was okay, which was withdrawn. Questions should be asked about that. Has someone been pressured to change their story?
There’s not a chance it’ll be replayed.
The VAR audio and the match day refs opinion at the time , as well as inconclusive real time footage and photo stills, all show no clear or obvious errors made by the officials.
I’m all for foreign officials though for big games. 100%. , no problem with that one BillyBoys.

I made that very point on the other channel the other day. Maxwell has overruled him!

Thanks for those free kicks.

Poor Wullie showing himself as the coward he always was!
So, they want a replay?
BRING IT ON

Evening
To those who say there will be no replay. I recall an anouncement by UEFA made on 23 November 1984 and a match Celtic played in Manchester 19 days later.
Jimbo
I watched the game twice after my son said the huns are in full melting Zombie mode.
Still didn’t see a penalty . No penalty not even a foul outside the box just 2 big lumps fighting for a loose ball .
Good luck to Johnny Kenny at Stamford Bridge tonight. Joint top scorer in the UEFA Conference League.
.
5 in 5.
Last game for Shamrock Rovers before he returns to his parent club according to RTÉ.

Hope you are well. It’s excellent that Joan can talk to others through zoom calls. That level of support can be a great comfort. Please pass on my best wishes to Joan.
Hail Hail.
Finished my last court attendance this morning. Only one more pleading to file tomorrow and then I am on holiday. For some reason though, it doesnt quite feel like Xmas is only a few days away. No snow.
MIT never let it be said that SentinenCelts are not a giving site..

Did you get the jail?🤣😂😅

That helps. I may even put on some xmas songs. Probably shouldn’t get drunk on egg nog if I’m at the office!

Sadly, I’m getting too old to do anything that would merit getting sent to jail.
Planning to take mum south after the holidays, so might spend some time this afternoon looking at places to go. Thinking Antigua or Grenada, or the DR. Doesnt seem very xmasy to be looking at tropical beaches!

Geez, 18 Euro Conference games on Paramount, and no highlight option. You have to pick one. None look that stimulating, although I’m sure some games will be crackers.
Think I’ll start with Spurs Man U instead. No idea which form of Ange’s team will show up.
MAGUA consider it done👍❤

Q When is a precedent not a precedent?
A When the decision to replay last season’s Belgian Cup final was overturned on appeal as being an incompetent decision!
😀
Stoopid huns!

Cheers, Packy. 👍
Hail Hail.
Christian Eriksen can certainly pick out forward runners with pinpoint diagonal long balls.
Still a major asset.
Solanke 1-0
Hertz 1-0 down at home to Moldovans after 21 minutes.
Chelski with 78% possession, but Shamrock Rovers still holding at 0-0.
I just jinxed Rovers.
Chelski 1-0.
Big shock at Chelsea. Its now 1-1 and it WASN’T Johnny Kenny! 😮
Maybe it was Chelski I jinxed?🤔🤣

Best wishes to Joan and yourself. I hope she is out in time for Christmas.
Switching between the Spurs & Hearts games and Shankland goes up with the keeper, seemed a fair challenge. Shankland then knocks the ball into the net. Watching the replay and Michael Stewart and the commentator both say that the ref had blown for a foul on the keeper therefore, VAR COULDN’T GET involved.
Now, didn’t VAR ‘NOT GET’ involved at a recent Cup Final due to a ref giving a foul?
Must be a SEVCO thing 😁
BTW, Hearts fans are revolting Live on Channel 528 on Virgin Media 😁
HH
3-1 Chelski. They will skoosh this Cup.
4-1, and not halftime yet.
Isn’t there an Old Firm replay on Jan 2nd?
It would be a good opportunity to get some foreign officials no?
I think the cheating will be off the scale that day
Billybhoy@8:02
Excellent 👍, didn’t know that. That’s good ammunition for a pub counter conversation 👏
Hertz with 69% possession, but only 5 shots to 4, and apparently the Moldovans missed a sitter just before halftime. If the score stand, they are out. If they win, they qualify.
Just read about the Mini Hun fans booing constantly. Think I’ll switch over.
HI BOBBY no she’s not in hospital she’s at home thankfully, everything is done thru zoom calls these days👍😎 hope you and ATOB and,CCB are well👍
Just watched the Moldovan sitter, caused by a horrendous pass out from Craig Gordon.
