Danger in Dingwall

‘Be careful what you wish for’ is often said in regards to football, well this weekend affords the opportunity for the old saying to come true again.
Brendan’s team formation has truly came under the microscope since the team stopped firing on all cylinders and suffered a humiliating defeat.
Well, that formation is going out the window today up in Dingwall, something different must emerge as we cannot fall back on the usual.
Can’t play a style geared towards wing players if you don’t have them fit and available.

The situation is incredible, 4 wingers unavailable at the same time, I cannot recall such a thing. Ross County must be rubbing their hands with glee, but for Celtic change also brings opportunity.
There’s 3 options,
Yang and a youngster wide and try to play 4-3-3 as normal as possible.
Kyogo on the left with Adam upfront.
Switch to 4-5-1 with 4 central midfielders plus Yang or just a plain old 4-4-2 with 4 central midfielders across the park.

Option 1, a kid gets his dream chance and so does Yang, again.
Option 2 offers the opportunity (at last) of getting a partnership between Adam and Kyogo.
Option 3, if a forced tactical switch results in a good team performance, Brendan gets a free lesson.

Change also brings the chance of not adapting sufficiently, I recall an earlier game when several new faces were brought into the starting lineup and the result was disappointing.
It was already going to be a tough game in the freezing cold, only two days rest and recovery after the Tangerines, and it would be easy to say the footballing God’s haven’t been kind through our numerous injuries,,we will soon find out.

There’s a (good) chance events like this kickstart some player acquisitions, given the gulf in class from Maeda to Palma, Kuhn to Yang, another wide man was always on the agenda, and now the sales and loans have genuinely started there’s funds and room available. One for each flank would be nice if not sensible.

So while there’s definitely danger in Dingwall, Celtic are fortunate these particular 3 points aren’t absolutely critical as others shot themselves in the foot. I’d love nothing better than come tonight, posters are demanding we stick to that style, the formation which brought about a positive change of play.

Anyway, in essence, what I was saying is politics and sport go hand in hand.

Add a little bit of religion to the mix, and you get the perfect recipe for distraction.

I’ve certainly not got any personal issues with discussing politics,as anyone who has been in my company will tell you. But it is a divisive topic best left for face-to-face discussion or dedicated sites. We all know of other sites which suffered due to a surfeit of political discussion, and it rarely stops at discussion.

It develops into tribal warfare, petty point-scoring and pissing everyone else off because they have access to the same media anyway. People are perfectly capable of making their own minds up about most matters, they are most unlikely to be persuaded by a faceless moniker from these pages.

Met Mick Karn in 1982.
Me and a pal jumped on the 07:00 Glasgow- London one Saturday morning. He had an exhibition on at the Hamilton Galleries.
To our surprise, the man himself was there. He was a big hero of mine and I couldn’t resist the opportunity to talk to him. He couldn’t believe we travelled down from Glasgow for the day and so invited us into an office for a glass of wine.
I happened to mention Ghost doing so well in the charts at that time, he did however sound less than impressed with it. Think the cracks were starting to show in his relationship with the band, and David Sylvia in particular.
Top bloke, extremely talented and a joy to witness live in concert. RIP

Politics?

To paraphrase CLR James, paraphrasing Rudyard Kipling.

‘What do they know of football who only football know?’

And there can be very few clubs to which that approach is more apposite than Celtic.

It’s recent, but it’s just going over old ground.

I don’t understand the outrage over the tainted titles but the apparent acceptance of the same club narrative. Seems incoherent to me.

Where did I say that I have a problem with anyone?

You’re problem, which is a reoccurring theme on here is that you go tonto when anyone has a counter opinion to your narrow minded world view.

There are no Ukrainian ‘refugees’ in Ireland by the way.

i know Torontony for sure. A good lad. regrettably, I lost touch with him and some others a while ago when I stopped going to the Celtic club and posting in CQN.

I did see someone posting on here recently under the moniker Teuchter ar La, who also was friends with TT. Don’t know if it is the same poster.

If you would like, I might have or be able to get a number for TT. Obviously, I wouldnt want to post it on here, but If BMCUWP (or someone else) is willing to play middle man, I can try to get it and pass it on.

16 Roads,
I’m not sure PMN is going tonto when questioning your views on refugees in Ireland. I will take on board what bmcuwp says and stay away from politics. In my opinion it tells you a lot about a person and is probably a lot of the reason it’s best avoided.

Think it should be noted, that yesterday’s impressive performance was achieved, with 7 CL squad players not even involved within the game yesterday.
Far more freedom on show from our players, none more so than kyogo, and even within yang and AJ also imo?
And this applied upon such a terrible playing surface also.
Certainly would add fuel to the fire, as to whether we just threw the Glasgow Derby away at the shithole imo?

Apparently Khvicha Kvaratskkelia has turned down an offer to join PSG and has agreed instead to move to Liverpool. He is one of the most fun players to watch, so adding his skill to that squad will make them not only very tough to beat, but even more fun to watch.

Economic migrants.

Please direct me to the post where I said that I have a problem with economic migrants,

This is what I said, ok –

Radical far-left crackpots in Ireland don’t like Irish Americans, right – these people speak with American accents by the way – they state that Irish Americans aren’t Irish.

Yet same lunatics will tell you that an economic migrant from Timbuktu,or wherever who arrived in the country a mere few weeks ago, and is given citizenship is now full blooded Irish.

They apply the same logic to the Glasgow Irish,or London Irish or any other branch of the disapora.

Along with the St Johnston players, that’s taking if they even last 55 minutes, or even bother to show up in the first place?

Personally think it’s a great gesture from the scum in actually marking the 55 minute mark, as an acknowledgement of “A proper 55”
league title in the making, being achieved by ourselves.

No surrender being replaced by walking away from the cowardly scum, is a very appropriate gesture also

Yeah,no bother.

Even better I can direct you to entire polical parties.

Check out Profit Before People, the Green Party, the Sinn Fein, Social Democrats, Labour Party, Worker’s Party…

Also there are 33,000 NGOs in Ireland – take your pick.

This before you take into consideration the useful idiot nose ring cartel – the purple hair posse.

The corner kick stuff is hard for refs as there is so much going on. Everyone is pushing, pulling, impeding and it’s hard for the ref to single out an offence to punish. If 2 opponents are pulling each other, he can’t penalise one of them unless they add some other offence.
What really annoys me is when a ref delays the corner kick to pull 2 players aside and tell them to behave. From my experience, players don’t care what you say to them and just carry on regardless. On the few occasions I did this I just told the players that if they continued I would either award a defensive free kick or a penalty, as soon as the ball was in play. What one it would be was a 50/50, were they willing to take the chance? Most times though, unless the players were about to lump each other, I just let the corner be taken then blew if there was a foul.
