Organic money vs Borrow FC
Firstly I’m delighted with this fixture, because I’m a firm believer that tough games are actually the best thing for this team right now. Doing well despite not firing on all cylinders, a tough opponent in a very meaningful game shall either bring out our best, or teach a hard lesson.
Of course I lean towards the former, Brendan has a fantastic record at Hampden, maybe the best of any manager, because he has the knack of getting the team fully motivated for the big occasion. Not only that, but we are hard to beat fullstop, not many teams out there have a solo blip around Christmas time.
I don’t live or die by trebles, this trophy won’t make or break my year, but lifting all three would obviously be progress, which does grab my interest and imagination.
I’m watching a club knocking the door of the next level, so I suppose it’s only natural silverware would follow. And it will, but no one yet has won everything, all the time. By no means is victory guaranteed, not by a long stretch. The bookies may have us at generous odds, but anything can happen on the day.
Of course I didn’t watch the midweek return of Ange to Glasgow, but the result and match descriptions tell me a couple of things,,their players were confident enough to forget the wage/stature/star status of Spurs on the night, enough to impose their game for spells, enough to score,,,the confidence of holding an EPL name in front of their own fans will more than likely provide a timely confidence boost as they once again play in Glasgow in front of their own fans, not exclusively obviously but still being yelled forward.
It’s already a hard game, and it looks like they’ve found form which eludes us currently yet we grind out point after point.
But here’s the rub.
This Cup Final is the ideal opportunity to kickstart our second wind of the season, to bond as a team, to really show the players the light at the end of the tunnel.
As the opening line said, I’m delighted with this fixture,,it affords us the opportunity to hit second gear again, and take much heart if achieved.
I’m faraway but know a few Bhoys going, and I’m sure it will be a memorable trip, but I ponder how much lifting a Cup affects the entire club?
From the top down, it can’t hurt but vindicate our new salary tier, our record signings, the manager, coaches and scouts.
Commercially, that’s what they want. Both merchandise and sponsors, which incentives higher income.
Finally, football operations. There’s a reason player after player has repeated the old cliche after getting a personal cheer upon hoisting the Cup in front of their support,,’This is what it’s all about!’
None of us know the pressure of playing for a global giant, live the day to day life of a modern footballer. As a homebird with a big dog, beautiful wife and likewise young daughter, I couldn’t do it.
They do, day after day, month after month, year after year.
To reach this point in their lives, to say it was all worth it, to actually be a winner fullstop.
I’ve gotta imagine there’s a release of tension, maybe a surge of self confidence, perhaps a realization this is where you’re meant be,,,and I’m entitled to dream (perhaps foretell) that the second half of our season begins here, lifting that Cup and using it as a springboard to hit that early season form again and be fully onpoint for the tough winter schedule then the business end of the season.
For several players it’s the ultimate showcase.
I don’t think Engels nor Trusty have won anything in their careers,,I’d start them both and tell them if they want some medals and tales for the grandkids later in life, here’s their chance so go and do it.
The 3 Samurai seem to thrive in the heat of this paticular battle, a good game from each would put many minds at ease, whilst late on (surely) Adam will have another chance to be the toast of Cork City, Glasgow, Central California, and many places in between.
And I cannot leave out Kasper, on his last hoorah but still the difference-maker on occasion. He deserves a medal, at least one.
We have personal stories, we have personal points to prove, we have two opposite managers with what seems like two good sides going at each other.
Sounds like Ange-ball however he couldn’t beat them,,but Brodge-ball is a different kettle of fish, hard to beat, efficient, yet devastating at times. Devastation is usually a bad thing, but when it comes to our opponents, their support and all that club stands for, I’ll make an exception.

AR on the slide so you say …
Well bring him home and give him the captain’s armband.
Couple of good years at left in him for the SPFL and a quality CL cameo.
Two birds / one stone — sorted.
The blob vs AP
They saw a cheap / pliable / desperate Aussie looking for Euro gig.
What they got was a man with a plan / a guy with loads of ambition and a desire to succeed.
A guy who could recognise potential when he saw it no matter how well hidden.
AP — take a bow.
Personally, I don’t think Sevco’s exertions on Thursday will noticeably affect them.
Hagi and Danilo did not play, Balogun played 55 minutes, and they substituted all 4 front players, and 2 of them ( Cerny and Bajrami ) just after an hour. They looked fitter than Spurs did, with no evidence of Angeball on the night.
We can expect to be harassed with a high press playing out from the back, and we should vary our play with long balls to our front 3, and get them turning. They are suspect to cutbacks from the byeline, and we should ask Kuhn and Maeda to focus on that.
Look for Brother Beaton to book Daezen early to slow him down. We have to take Beaton out of the equation, and the best way of doing that is by scoring enough to maintain daylight between us and them.

I didn’t say Andy was on the slide. I was quoting from Liverpool fan blogs.
I would love him at Celtic Park, but there is that old bugaboo about wages………..
Fulham take the lead with 14 mins plus added time to go.

Good point about Clementes use of players.
He knows better than anyone that a win on Sunday cements his future as R2ngers manager.
Keeps us on our toes.
LOT
Organic growth — all down to AP’s energy and ambition / nothing else involved.
The boards / the execs had nothing to do with it — AP and his growth talk scared them fartless.
18 years a failure — left us the same size as he found us so not a good look..
Not exec progress no matter what the Blob might say.

If by The Blob you mean TMG, it would help interpret your nonsense if you made an effort to properly identify those you dismiss based on nothing but your own unique perceptions that trap your mind.
2 2 at Liverpool
Liverpool really are an incredible team. Going down to 10 men never seems to affect them.
I agree about Huns freshness. Although, may well be an issue if extra time comes along.
I’m more concerned about what version of BRs Celtic turn up. Will it be the high energy, front footed one or the predictable and ponderous one we saw on numerous occasions this past month??
9 mins added time at Liverpool
Lost in Translation.. Who the actual fuck is the blob ? and why do you continue to use initials in your posts it’s very annoying and adds sweet fuck all to your input on this blog.
Shooting practice at Anfield. Scousers have run Fulham ragged.
Getting back to the game tomorrow. Some fans I know have already counted their chickens. We tend to forget that Sevco are presently eighth in the Europa League on 11 points, and a home win against 20th place US Gilloise ( who they have beaten relatively recently ) guarantees them a top 8 finish. Regardless of what we think of them, that is noteworthy.
We need a performance akin to our semi final against the sheep.
Going to check out Villa shortly. Tough game for them.
Ini4 I tend to disagree with you, the riches for their Europa league competition are minimal compared to the Champions league riches, I suggest that a lot of teams put little effort into the Europa league preferring to place their priorities in finishing 1st or 2nd in their domestic setup to try to get to the richer competitions, or have other factors to consider.
FSR??
what a joke
FSR in Scotland ???
an even bigger joke
the Scottish league cup??
I mean how much shite can one country take?
let’s talk about EBTs and tax dodging and FIFA bribes and Man City in compliance and Spanish tax payers funding Real Madrid and Middle East monarchies and Russian oligarchs and It all being rubber stamped by the British judiciary You are all fuckin deluded.
let’s talk about forgiveness like nothing happened
===
Ever considered the possibility you have gone too far?
Ever consider the possibility that the only way that people finally get it right is by experiencing the consequences of getting it wrong?
The forgiveness I mention has a role to play when it comes to recognising wrong and how best to learn and grow from it.
You might find yourself in a position to appreciate it’s role one day. Life offers the opportunity to learn one second after another.
The forgiveness I speak of is set out at the International Forgiveness Institute recognised global as having a role to play.
If you or anyone want to deride my mentioning forgiveness then at least have the courage/courtesy to read how The IFI present it and argue they have it wrong, or is that much harder work than venting your spleen on a blog?
Dynamo Zagreb lose 3-1 in local derby with Locomotiva Zagreb.
I see Hibs beat Ross County 3 0. Suggests their form has improved

Hi ASWGL:
And I tend to disagree with you.🤣. That’s the beauty of this blog.😊
I grant you the large difference in the earnings in the 2 Cups, but consider this:
The Europa League winner qualifies for the Champions League – that’s worth expending some effort for, right?
Secondly, only 1 of the 7 teams above Sevco is currently sitting 1st or 2nd in their league, although 3rd and 4th will do it for the Major 5 leagues.
Lazio 5
Athletic Club 4
Anderlecht 3
Lyon 5
Frankfurt 3
Galatasaray 1
Man U 13
Methinks these teams are putting everything they can into the Europa League, because with the exception of Galatasaray, their chances of getting into the Champions League are marginal ( Athletic Club and Frankfurt ) or non existent ( Man U ).

Unai Emery must burn as many calories on the touchline as his players. Kicks every ball.
Having been like that myself as a manager, I know it is not good for your health. I ended up so wired, I couldn’t sleep. Copious amounts of alcohol didn’t help either, I must confess.😱
I think the management gig took years off my life.😕
With Villa concentrating on Chris Wood at a Forest corner, late arriving player should really have scored with a header.
This game a bit like a chess match.
VAR decisions utterly baffling. Villa winger hauled down in box. Should have been a penalty.
John McGovern in the Stand, watching the game.
Villa pushing Forest back. Woods a good out ball for the home team.

I see no evidence of FSR from Dumbarton all the way to the FIFA World Cup and everything in between.
Nothing. Only more power, corruption and lies. Rules, regulations, documentation, exemptions, loopholes and subjectivity. Any enforcement is in itself corrupt and prejudiced.
Gone too far?
I’d say not far enough.
As a Celtic supporter you should recognize this.
Whats the point in getting involved?
I used to get involved but now who cares?
I am still an observer in the “Scottish sixties Celtic cultural” sense but I dont believe any of it
Think of it like a Theologian with no philosophy.
You’d appreciate that. 🙂
…and I’m proud to be labeled Alf Garnett 🙂
Wayne Rooney inexorably steering Plymouth towards relegation. Having watched this inarticulate ex-player, with zero inspirational skill, flounder at Birmingham and DC United, I was baffled by his appointment, and said so at the time.
He was a superb player, but he is never a manager.
Duran 1-0.
What a player!
Hardly plays for Villa, but the Colombian international now has 11 goals, many of them spectacular.
The Blob — our own set of low energy / low capability execs plus the happy clappers and the board groupies who push every word they say.
Plus the odd bit of self promotion.
Dafabet deal from yesterday — pretty poor fare that had the CEO look like he was kissing a wasp in the PR photo.
We need to work harder at this.
Our club is worth more than a bookie and booze — very low rent / very energy.
Asked before — any info out there on our various deals?
Adidas — £5mill pa.
Dafabet — was £2.8mill pa.
Interweb scuttlebutt so please use carefully.

“I see no evidence of FSR..”
—————————-
Plenty evidence at the Bigotdome, surely? They may well yet find a way round it, but with their directors still collecting interest on previous loans, and reluctant to put more in and somehow disguise it to thwart the rules, it seems to my uneducated eye that they are hurting big time, and cutting all sorts of costs, including their salary bill.
You can be certain they are not doing this voluntarily, but under duress.
If the Villa score stands, they go 4th.
The 3 things in life that are guaranteed, death, taxes, and BP saying he’s not posting on here anymore, if I had a pound for each time he said that I could of ended world poverty and still have enough left for a pic n mix at the cinema
Forest 1-1.
Kyogo type goal, sliding in on pass across goal.
VAR check for possible offside.
Ridiculous.
VAR kills atmosphere stone head.
Ruled out. Scandalous.
and on that topic a perfectly good Nottingham Forest Goal ruled out!
Justice served.
Forest score 1-1.
Martinez didn’t look too clever there.

Huns?
FSR?
FFS?
you have to be kidding?
Forest equalise after having a goal disallowed for offside.
2-1 Forest
2-1 Forest
Another cutback in front of goal. That’s the way to go tomorrow.
Puts Forest 4th.
Emery no happy.
4 minutes left.
why the late Scottish League Cup kick-off? 3:30pm? Did I read that right?
