Celtic fail to peel the Tangerines

I recall the manager saying he had learnt his lesson earlier in the season when his raft of changes failed to inspire. Yesterday was similar, but the changes were most definitely forced upon him. I had underestimated the severity of the bug affecting the camp, but even with three of the usual back-four out the rearguard wasn’t breached, so defense was not the issue on the day. The other end of the pitch proved the problem point.

It was one of those days, the ball didn’t want to go into the back of the net. I got the midfield I asked for and as they peppered the goal from outside the 6 yard box I got the tactic I asked for, but we only worked their keeper three times in total from 17 shots,,our range efforts were poor.

Finishing chances created was also poor,,Kyogo, Maeda, Engels may all have buried those on another day, but didn’t on this particular day.

One might opine Yang and/or Palma was poor, possibly others too, but as explained on Saturday I wasn’t concerning myself with good or bad, rather just seeking three points by hook or by crook. Only one point travels back to Parkhead, and you know what, I’m not going to moan but rather accept the circumstances and just move on.

We won’t see that again, Yang and Ralston as the right side, both Twin Towers out simultaneously, only 3 on target from 17,,,it just wasn’t the usual Celtic yesterday. We don’t do nil-nil, I can’t recall the last time that scoreline appeared. The bar is set high enough that we now drop two points instead of gaining one, that’s a positive. We stay in a strong position for all remaining competitions having collected the completed one, I just can’t complain if a virus victim makeshift Celtic team completely dominates possession (78%), keeps a clean sheet, and takes something from the game.
It is what it is, we live to fight (better) another day and still have plenty of fish to fry.

For what it’s worth, I thought that although the actual football quality on display wasn’t great, it was a good crowd and atmosphere, decent enough surface, feels like a proper stadium,,,the Tangerines do add something to the top flight and it’s a fixture I can look forward to unlike certain others. I can see why they are mid table-ish,,,their shape makes them hard to beat as we found out. Now their defensive side is established, ideally they buy with the aim of strengthening their offensive side, and the SPL will genuinely have a new player in town.

We enter Christmas week with a scoreless draw but sitting pretty,,it’s gotta be said as we approach December’s end but January could be priceless.
More Ibrox pain.
More of a gap at the top.
More grasping for straws.
Qualify for CL knockouts.
Walk out of window stronger with new toys to play with absolutely cementing our position as not only domestic top dogs but prepared and clear favourites for any Champions League qualifiers that life throws at us.
A certain contract extension would really top off a fine month.

This time last year Santa Claus was famously boo-ed off the Park, but he infamously had the last say.
This time last year Brendan uttered his prophetic ‘this is when we come alive’ statement of intent.
We enter the holiest of weeks unbowed, unbroken, and born again on the biggest stage.
Our beloved Glasgow Celtic can test our patience and sanity at times, but it’s a gift to us all, one I’m delighted to share with you.

I won’t be writing another article until after the big day, so from Bobby and myself, with the greatest sincerity, Merry Christmas to each and every one of you.
We hope it’s a good one.

I was sorry on seeing you were in town I was not up to seeing you and sharing memories.

Perhaps just as well as we could have lasted until Hogmanay.

Lazy answer — you are better than that.
No matter the future awaits — I think PL will have a go at a new main stand.
He is a property guy who has built little — I’m sure it hurts.

Here’s hoping.

Excellent reply, and I do understand the reasoning behind your current thoughts on the board. Mine just don’t run quite to that level of forgiveness!

As for the Malmo article,I know the one you mean. I look forward to reading your interpretation of it,and how it might relate to Scotland in general, and Celtic in particular.

Anyway,time to write tomorrow’s article.

Not lazy. I’ve explained my reasons. I can’t be bothered for the reasons stated-which,coincidentally,JIMBO alludes to in his recent comment.

I’m just not indulging you on this one.

Whilst I respect the former a great deal I think he is absolutely wasting his time trying to debate or discuss or call it what you will with his antagonist.

As I explained to MM today I do not expect anything I say will have any impact on MM but there are many starfish who frequent the blog and it at some point in their lives, past, present or future , what I write might help send them back into friendly waters.

Think of MM as the grit that forms the pearl.

I am an addicted good finder. Just call me Paddyton.

Sorry to hear your thoughts on my efforts on here.
Please do not take everything I say too seriously — there is some humour in there … honest.
It is only football and we all have bigger things to worry about.

The lack of dialogue on here at the moment is an issue.
Certainty stalks this blog like a fart in a spacesuit so all is not well.
No matter — thanks for your chat — even better if I could just remember the topics.

Hopefully all is good on your return.
The more voices the better the conversation.

We are all looking for perfection in Celtic it seems to me. All these league wins and trophies have increased our expectations. Do we want to win or do we want to win only if the football has been mesmerising ?
No matter the opposition on paper, they are all individual players desperate to show they can compete with our players. Weren’t you the same when your team met the best in the league or area. The easiest way to win for most teams we play is not to lose! Hence, in the main, packed defences.
yesterday was a bad day at the office but we had/have excuses… there were a lot of first picks missing.
I was still disappointed we couldn’t win.
Some certainly didn’t seize their chance.
As for BR’s tactics…. we can hardly say they’re not working as we are the league leaders, no-one else.

Never mind the shark and its acrobatics — now we seem to have starfish frequenting the blog.
Very interesting take on the people who view the blog and their abilities.
Eric Cantona must be a secret poster — trawlers / fish / starfish …

Or we have just had another episode in that long running SC staple — “the Patroniser”.
Edward Woodward must ruing the day he missed that call.

Apologies — Edward Woodward RIP — 15 years and counting ….
It must be Denzil Washington who is ruing the missed call.

Quite possibly. But you’re first in line for the SC remake of an old Steve Martin classic.

For no particular reason, here is an observation on winter in Canada. Last week it has varied between -10 and -20. Today we have snow so the temp has moderated. Cold weather plus snow that makes it hard on the wild life. I do not mean boozers!

Today I watched a black squirrel grab a piece of bread that I put out. He ran into a bush and hid the bread on a branch, then he jumped down and ate another piece of the bread! Smart.

Best wishes to everyone at this time. Enjoy your moments.
