Vacant position needs filling!
Sack The Kitman!
An important game on a Saturday night and he only went and forgot the scoring boots for the whole team!
It was one hell of a game to watch with a little bit of everything thrown in, an action packed spectacle to behold, for better and for worse.
Opening at a frantic pace, being paused, re-opening at a frantic pace, after Celtic scored the opener the first 13 minutes alone was worth the admission money, and now the early goal was achieved, now the Bhoys were clearly in attack mode, the game had statement victory written all over it. There was a statement made alright, but not the expected one. What transpired was as infuriating as it was mesmerizing.
We walked off at halftime drawing, leaving many thousands in disbelief.
A team that had stupendous amounts of possession. carved opening after opening, played and passed their best in weeks maybe months,,,heard a smattering of boo’s heading down the tunnel.
Whilst that might sound harsh, it only occurred because there’s no noise invented yet for ‘what the actual f#$k is going on here?’
By the 60th minute I was thinking to myself I’m glad MacInnes walked away from R2ngers because his tactics can cause us real problems and with a better standard of player he could have our number. They had man-marked Engles out of the game, Reo generally had two quickly around him, and after they pushed up the field around 35 minutes they were a thorn in our side. But not the main thorn.
As for their equalizer I’ll return to an old footballing cliche,,you can tell by the players (collective) reaction. Our players seen the handball, and instinctively stopped and raised hands as a unit. They were fully convinced, wholeheartedly, no argument.
Two weeks ago Ange was the victim of the same situation, I wrote about it. The Aussie wasn’t impressed, now we all know how he felt.
Incredibly a handball in the box is allowed in certain circumstances, phase of play etc.
The clear problem is that players (ours on Saturday) instinct kicks in, and they see a handball and automatically envisage a free kick, because it’s been that way from time immortal, until this season. Some things get done away with and the players can consciously change their game and mentality, things like the keeper picking up a backpass or two footed tackles,,easy enough to phase out. Having players ignore handball is a completely different kettle of fish. It goes against their nature, all they’ve learnt and experienced. It’s a ridiculous rule that needs scrapped ASAP!
When the subs rocked up I thought here we go, these bhoys will fix this. Incredibly, the same ‘disease’ infected them upon entering the field of play, typified by an Adam lead 4 on 2 attack fizzling out.
Murphys Law said ‘can’t miss ‘em all’ and sure enough on the 70th minute Daizen stuck away the winner.
We held on, we progress.
But my goodness,,,,
I don’t think I shall ever witness such a game again.
On another day it would have been 7-0, and that would have flattered the opposition. I firmly believe I’ll never again see any Celtic team squander chance after chance after chance after chance,,I could go on.
It was ridiculous verging on laughable. From good to bad, over and over again. Good play and build-up, bad finishing to say the least.
It was our season in a nutshell, ultimately emerge on top but showing a big flaw.
With all that in mind, the fact we created soo many chances is a real positive, I thought we were excellent at times, crisp and zippy, really dangerous. Young Boys may laugh, but Celtic actually played well which is a bonus heading into Wednesday, as is staying in the Cup. It was only an off-day upfront, of epic proportions which won’t be repeated, couldn’t be repeated. It came in The Scottish Cup not in Europe or the SPL, but we won.
Where’s Harry Kewell, we miss him.
Call Harry Potter too, we need a potion to cancel that spell that infected us.
I called for Reo, I was granted my wish and watched him closely. He should have had a goal and an assist, pulled out a few lovely passes and justified his selection in these eyes.
Kuhn and Kyogo should have bagged a hat-trick each, but it was telling that Brendan turned to Liam to make the left back area more secure. Greg was fine on the day, very attack natured, if anything AJ was quiet.
Kudos to both ‘Keepers for some excellent saves.
But Brendan, from all of us to you, can you please hire a striking coach, because we’ve all lost our voice after yelling “PUT IT IN THE BLOODY NET MAN!” for 90 plus minutes.

Triple h RIP Jimmy Calderwood
His illness was horrible, and thoughts must go out to his family at such a sad time.
It’s a pity he is remembered most notably, by a choice he made, by at least half of Scotland.
I doubt many of us had any affection for Jimmy Calderwood, the way he helped his pal Murray by lying down to the old huns so they could win the league in 2003.
Johnno,
I was not suggesting we sign either Mayo or Murray. Earlier I mentioned that most professionals can have an outstanding game, far above their norm.
I watched McCowan over a period before recommending that we sign him and he has not disappointed.
Penrice of Hearts seems like a no brainer to me, especially if both Valle and Taylor are for the off. Even the arrival of Tierney should not deflect from the need for another LB, be it Penrice or someone else. Of course, Hearts may have set a crazy price on Penrice which makes it impossible.

15th place Spurs losing 2-0 to 16th placed Everton. Unless things change quickly and significantly, AP will be looking for a new job soon.
3-0 … could bd even sooner
Ange could be finished here
MIKEINTORONTO
Ange seems to have the support of most of the press journalists. They tell us that they can see what he is trying to do,but is hamstrung by constant injuries to key players-Solanke being only the latest.
A lot of the Spurs fans, including the three I know, agree. And reckon that the club has been a disaster on the field since Levi took over, which was 25 years ago.
How long that will last, especially losing three goals to Everton,I don’t know. I reckon it depends on his cup results between now and 5 February.
Levy looking like someone weed in his cornflakes, Everton had only scored 15 goals prior to this
Bada,
Yep, I think this will be the end for Ange, unless there is a dramatic turnaround in half number 2. Even allowing for injuries, that Spurs team should be giving Everton a run for their money. Has Ange lost the dressing room?
Bobby Darin said, “Multiplication, that’s the name of the game!” In football, “Flexibility, that’s the name of the game.”
where to next, Ange?

Think Hatate’s miss yesterday was bad ? This is the guy they’re willing to listen to big offers for.

That is absolutely dreadful.

I understand that, but thought McCowan was more of a signing made, as an oversight that we actually hadn’t had our homegrown quota requirements in place, for this season.
Ridiculous situation with how that issue was dealt with last summer, and would like to think that such a farce isn’t in place next summer?
Penrice or Anderson as a potential backup to Tierney may well be in the offering, come the summer?
We already know Rodgers preferred option is Taylor, taking Tierney is confirmed at some point.
So it will be a wait and see what develops regarding the position for next season.
However, for the remainder of this season, can see scales being used to cover both CB and LB, which allows for valle to become another space for a change to be made within our CL squad imo.
Could allow Tierney to take the place made vacant with Welsh.
Probably could mean Taylor is potentially heading to the MLS come February or March is also in the making?
So LB position covered for the remainder of this season, and wait and see what develops for next season, is my outlook on the LB position at present?
Man Uniterd losing at home to Brighton. Could Amorim be fired before Ange?!
Just turned the telly to find the huns on BBC, don’t think they are doing the huns any favours by the attendance!
I didn’t want Ange or Moyes to lose this game, as I have sympathy with both of them. But that was the first time Everton scored 3 in an EPL first half for umpteen years.
In other news, ex Sevco diver in chief Fabio Silva puts Las Palmas ahead in the first minute in the Bernabeu. Absent the ridiculous histrionics, there is a player in there.
Man U down 1-3. Sevco coasting. Dancing in the streets of Raith as they eliminate Falkirk. Spurs 8 points from drop zone and 26 behind Liverpool.
Think I may well throw an eye on how our women get on against the blue witches
Spurs pull 2 back. 3-2.
Mbappe running Mckenna ragged. 4-1 in the 44th minute, with a hat trick from the French forward.
Edit: Last goal chalked off. Now 3-1.
Man City score their second with the simplest of moves – a short pass across the arc on the 18 yard line for the onrushing Kovacic to hit first time.
Really wish we would do this more often.
Blog broke? One hour and 11 minutes between last 2 posts?
Man City 3-0 with De Bruyne cut back from byeline to Foden. Again, simplicity itself.
Man City back in top 4.
Celtic women down 2-0 to Sevco in Cup semi final.
A Kelly Clarke goof and a free kick into top corner.
Sevco manager red carded.

I thought the support was incredible as well Jimbo.
Reminded me of the Buckie Thistle game, this time last year.
No Idea if it’s because of the kick off time,or become it’s the cup,or what?
Perhaps maybe because the hardcore Celts are in attendance – better fewer but better and all that there.
Mental I enjoyed those two games far more than any CL or zombie fixtures.
Don’t have any opinion on the rebel songs at the game – Celtic songs are definitely the best – did love the GB sang Long Kesh/The Bhoys From Ballymurphy mind you!!
HH.🍀
Hope the GB bin the IRA signs for the Villa game. Birmingham a particularly sensitive locale, and these songs will go down like a lead balloon.
Man City 4-0 Doku.
I see Moyes played the big Irish lad Jake O’Brien today. He is a big unit ( 6’ 6” ) and can play anywhere in the back 4. I wanted Celtic to sign him a couple of years ago, when he was with the Republic U-21 team. We missed out there.
Man City 5-0. Haaland.
Impersonation of a man talking to himself here. Where is everybody?😊

It is a horrible disease and my dig was in poor taste.
Looks like a Hibs – Secvo women’s Cup Final. Celtic still 0-2 down after 80 minutes.
Good evening, friends.
Looks like we are just on the verge of sneaking past the low turnout from the Dundee game. But I remain as optimistic as ever. C’mon, surely another 15 or so voters over the next 3 hours to get the numbers up nearer 70. And it’s tight at the top with just 6 votes currently separating the top 3. All will be revealed shortly after 9.00pm.

Man City 6-0. McAtee.
City fans singing “ You’re going down with United.”🤣

You are not alone – noticed it had gone quiet as I took breaks from some furniture rearranging. Thought site must be down.

Aye the rebs at matches and all that. Mind my dad telling me before my first game (at Brockville a mere 57 years ago) not to sing them. And then the Celts go three up with half an hour to play and suddenly the old fella and the rest of us are off to Dublin in the Green.
Absolutely cannae stand the Green Brigade spending 15 minutes every game trotting them out with all the verve of hymn singing practises at Primary School. But the rebs are part of us and I’d be sorry if they completely disappeared.
Slainte to both of you and anybody else reading this

Celtic women out 1-2 in semi final.
Triple h, no I don’t think it was in bad taste, you respected him with the RIP. 👍
I guess we all had a grudge to bear with Jimmy, and it’s probably quite sad that SDM used him too with promises of him being the next Ibrox manager after Advocat, only for Murray to then appoint that big red headed alky McLeish.
Snowing heavily in DC right now. Temperatures will fall until Tuesday morning when it is forecast to be 8C or minus 14F without the wind chill. Have to take the brass monkeys inside, I think.

You’re absolutely right about the singing of IRA songs in Birmingham. It would go down very badly but sadly it is 100% guaranteed to happen with. The Ultras are bloody minded and couldn’t care less about embarrassing the club and the general support.
There’s going to be a massive fan zone with thousands of Celtic fans there – including my son. I’m already concerned about the possibility of carnage.
I don’t think anyone need worry about the Villa game, as celtic have already sent out emails to the corporate customers saying that only corporate will be getting tickets for the game.
There is also photographic evidence required in Birmingham to collect tickets. So I don’t think the normal get your ticket and pass it on will work, as you will need to travel down to Birmingham to then pass your ticket on. They do this at all Newcastle away games, so it’s the norm down here.
This on the back of 6k tickets being sold for a rebel night and only around 2K for the stadium.
I think it’s shocking the way these supporters are treated.
The are constantly kettled by police.
The board are happy to sell photos of the TIFO’s they display and put a lot of their own time and money into these fantastic displays.
They are constantly carrying out charity events.
And remember, it was us old bhoys that taught the young team the songs.
If the GB didn’t attend the stadium ( covid) the players would hear nothing but groans raining down from the stands.
They drown out the people, you know, the ones that were fantastic at football and never played a bad pass or took the wrong option in their football careers.
I salute the GB, each and every one of the bhoys and ghirls.

Bravo, Pitymevin, Bravo!! Great comment 👏👏👏
Jobo…4 votes cast! My pleasure!
Just found this in the Sun. The GB statement. For me it reads very well, and is worth 2 minutes of everyone’s time.

I see the BBC Scotland sports team headline for todays result for their favourites, describe Fraserburgh as ‘Obdurate’
Having never seen the word obdurate previously, I Googled it.
It apparently means, Obdurate – stubbornly persistent in wrongdoing.
What wrong doing did Fraserburgh commit? Not lay down to the ‘mob’?
Inebriated by their own verbal verbosity CSC.

Hi Craig:
Back in the 70’s, my place of work couldn’t have an office party night on the Waverley without someone ending up in the Clyde.
So I’ll be giving this cruise a miss.🤣😂😅

PMN,McCaff,
I’m interested in your thoughts on why the stadium are no longer singing along with the GB. They say themselves that the support they enjoyed in the early days has tailed off. Why do you think this is?
Philadelphia Eagles up 6-0. Miss extra point.

Wear a life jacket, you’ll be fine 🙂
Him: Honey, I know we hve been busy lately, and I thought you could do with a nice holiday … so I went ahead and booked us a nice cruise …..

The GB have brought this on themselves with their choice of songs from our extensive library.
A bit less Get The Troops Out Now and other nonsense and a bit more traditional Celtic songs would be a start. I’ve noticed too that the more people light up their mobiles on 67 minutes the more they stubbornly refuse to start up In The Heat Of Lisbon.
Its THEIR behaviour that has driven a wedge between themselves and the rest of the stadium and that includes their insistence on delaying KO with their pyro theatrics.
At least it appears we’ll be spared this crap in Birmingham although as Auldheid is fond of saying:
We’ll see….🤔
