Treble dreams
It’s funny how things workout sometimes, in life and in football. I’ll throw some examples out there.
Many of us would have wanted Sinisalo for the Cups,,Brendan didn’t agree and I understand opting for continuity but now the Cup change has been forced upon him.
Goals,,many of us feared a drop off after losing our number one striker but as it turns out but we’ve just scored 9 in two games, and with lower league opposition today there’s a proper chance of a another high scoring game,,,as soon as we get shot of Kyogo our goals per game average increases?
Greg being tempted by Zagreb,,who woulda thunk it? It’s not as if they were sitting around thinking we could really do with a Scottish left back, and the player himself will be exposed by a lack of height, technique, and pace in a nation that produces quality players, a highly scouted nation that produces so many players I’m wondering why recruit from outside? Still, I’m reminded of telling my dad I was moving to New Zealand and he replied there’s nothing out there, how wrong he was as I had the best year of my life showing one man’s spurred opportunity is another’s heaven. I hope he does go to be honest,,it’s a beautiful place and he will learn, and I personally like the idea of Schlupp and KT taking over the position. As Schlupp will be on a free, we’ve managed a try before you buy, if you wish. But his high wages will be an issue, we won’t have both left backs on top whack, or will we because he’s free? I’m hoping he puts the club into that position, starting properly from today.
Throw in Scales, Ralston, and Murray that’s a completely new back five! I’m not expecting that though, Trusty and Scales would get the nod, Murray given the entire second half if the games wrapped up please gaffer.
We need a good look at him, everyone wants a new youth product breaking through.
In the middle it would be normal gking on sensible to leave out some Bayern starters. But I get the feeling Engels is growing better, more accustomed with every passing minute, and I’ve seen dropping Reo have an effect before, yet the game is made for Luke. Callum will want to Captain the side in every round until hopefully lifting the actual Cup. Brendan doesn’t do himself favour’s with regard to budget when his try before you buy midfield signing Bernardo can’t nail down a first team place but look like a player who needs consistent gametime to progress. Its a tough one,,if I were King I would select Reo, Engels, Bernardo.
In attack everyone assumes Maeda starts on the left given the circumstances but I’m not convinced benching Jota or Kuhn for that matter benefits the player. Keeping those two on the pitch for a half also allows Kenny to start as there’s still goals in the attack. Idah doesn’t need to play the whole game, but I reckon if given minutes he will have a serious appetite to score more than Kyogo, hit 20 or so, just to make a statement he’s the top dog.
Lower league opposition in an early enough Cup tie equals something a bit different, a tinge of mystery, and of course the chance to impress not just the Parkhead faithful but the manager. One might opine a stern test before the sternest of tests is good preparation, but I’m in the take it easy camp. As long as they don’t go out to leave their mark on players, I’m happy with what should be another high scoring home win with all five subs used. Then it’s just a case of repeating it on Wednesday.

No thank you for the reply Auldheid,
For me, it’s not about what PL did for celtic. Is it good enough what he and MN are doing now? Or what the future holds? Surely that should be the question.

All there is is now and no the current set up with individuals in roles that require different skills is not fit for purpose.
Strategically the skills required for job roles that themselves need reviewed should be the start point.
Fill those jobs with folk with appropriate skills, give them objectives to meet and let them have the reins not hold on to them and let their abilities emerge.
In short less control more encouragement and help to deliver .
On buying another club it turns up David Low was all for it in a project called Operation Strawberry. The rules have changed since to prevent it happening.
lets not get carried away raith rovers are like accrington stanley down here😎😎 used to deliver to accrington twice a week, what a shithole, reminds me of Frodsham 😎😎😎❤

Ange Postecoglou’s 2nd season was widely regarded as the most attack minded Celtic team in decades, after 39 games in all competitions so far, Brendan Rodgers’ current Celtic team have scored just 5 goals fewer than that side at the exact same stage of season & conceded 6 less.
SOL btw get some new jokes, those you posted yesterday have grown whiskers😎😎😎😎

I’ve noticed this before when we are way ahead in cup ties that they blow on 90minutes. I get goal difference is irrelevant and the ties won so you could argue what’s the point…..except if Kenny gets his first goal for example in injury time it does wonders for his confidence or a raith guy gets a memorable consolation goal at Celtic park etc etc. etc.
Not sure they can just change the rules cos they want to. I dunno where it says stoppage time is discretionary depending on the score.
A good run out tonight before the Bayern game HH
Hoop hoop hooray @ 820
The laws of the game make it clear that the ref has to add time for the following reasons:
3. Allowance for time lost
Allowance is made by the referee in each half for all playing time lost in that half through:
The fourth official indicates the minimum additional time decided by the referee at the end of the final minute of each half. The additional time may be increased by the referee but not reduced.
The referee must not compensate for a timekeeping error during the first half by changing the length of the second half.
There is nothing that says the ref can ignore time lost, and is specific about reasons for adding time. Feeling sorry for a losing team is not acceptable, and at an extreme can open up the ref to allegations of betting impropriety.

Did someone piss on your cornflakes this morning? My jokes aren’t olden, they’re golden. As for tonight’s game, we can only beat what’s in front of us, and we did this in style. The team’s attitude was spot on, and they easily won what could have been a banana skin tie had they gone out there in the wrong frame of mind. I’d much rather beat teams like Raith Rovers by 5 than go through another experience like Clyde.
Hope wee Joan’s keeping ok – give her a hug for me.
Oh scores winner for Genk over Cercle Brugge.
Kyogo on bench as Rennes lead 0-1 at St. Etienne.

Nice to have Joan out and about, mate.
Evening
Making way home from game. Hate these Saturday evening games.
Seeing the lineup I thought we might make heavy weather of it but other than a dull spell from about 20 mins in until the disallowed goal it was as fluid as it was professional. No guide to Wednesday obviously but I enjoyed it

Maeda first to score 3 hat tricks in a year since Moussa.
HHH, he will be missed when he’s gone.
He is the best palyerv we have and has been for 2 year now
Al-Gettaefaq zooming up the Saudi league with a draw and 2 wins since Slippy G exited stage left, laughing and dancing. Now up to 9th.
Mbappe equalizes for Galacticos vs Atletico. 1-1.
That charming chappie Simeone has been Atletico manager for 14 years.
Playing 4-4-2 against Real’s 4-2-3-1.
I enjoyed the game today but honestly what a time for a kick off. Plus my hands were blooming freezing as I had left my gloves in the car. Spent the full game pulling my hat down as well as it wasn’t covering my ears right. Got back to the car, took my hat off and there were my gloves inside my hat. Ffs😂😂
I enjoyed the exchanges between PMN and Auldheid. Differing views but always civil. I have to say PMN’s comment in regard to Lawwell and his stagnation of our club was worthy of a lead article itself.
Fofana on for Welshman James for Rennes after 60 minutes. Rennes still lead 1-0.
Kyogo still on bench.
Triple sub for Atletico after 66 minutes.
Atletico defending desperately in front of 78,000 at the Bernabeu.
Rennes puts on a sub for their center forward, and it’s not Kyogo.
Spew Keevins was absolutely slaughtering Yang pre-match on RC. So I was delighted to see him grab a goal and two assists. I’ll be putting him in my top 3 along with Hat Trick Daizen and Cool Hand Luke.
ATOB
PMSL at your story. At least your scalp must have been quite toastie!
😂
Rennes put on Ismael Kone, Ivorian who now represents Canada, for French striker Kalimuendo. Kyogo still on bench.
The Lawwell years have been done to death.
Are we going to be stuck on this repetitive carousel til he leaves? With absolutely no change in the way in which the club operates.
Time to find a new bete noire.
Perhaps it’s not the man but the corporate identity that should be maligned.
To those expecting change, what form do you expect it to take?
If Rennes hang on, it will lift them 5 points clear of relegation places, but the 3 teams below them could leapfrog them with game in hand.
Modric and Camavinga on for Galacticos with 6 minutes left. Still 1-1.
Rennes go 2-0 up. Substitute Nagida. 4 subs now on. Kyogo still on bench.
Simeone has used all 5 subs, but Oblak has saved them so far.
If score stands, Real would be 1 point ahead of Atletico, and 5 ahead of Barca, who have a game in hand.
Nagida came on for Rennes with 6 minutes to go and scored with his first touch.
All over in Madrid 1-1.
All over in Saint-Etienne. Rennes win 2-0, go up to 11th with second clean sheet win in a row after 4 losses. Next up is a tough one -Lille, then a winnable tie against Reims.
ATOB, thank you much appreciated 👍
Auldheid, operation Strawberry, so there is some merit in the story. Only for it to be squashed into jam, and put into tiny wee pots. The same idea that when you think small. World class indeed!
JS, for me, for so long as we have PL in the building, we won’t move forward. Maybe I should JUST NOT SAY ANYTHING.
Then what would be the point of the blog ?
Night all and talk Wednesday, to comment on a game I’m just happy to be playing in. NOT, some on here might think that’s all your worth.
WELL FUCK THAT
Chelsea lose. Which is nice…
From BBC Sport Online:
“Celtic have begun working on a deal to sign Brondby striker Mathias Kvistgaarden in the summer.” (Football Insider)
————————-
I must say I am heartily sick of reading this guy’s name over the past 2-3 seasons. And Brondby must be fed up to the back teeth with us. Our recruitment team has very limited imagination. If Brendan really wants him, give them our valuation in the summer with 48 hours to accept or reject. Then move on. And have Plans B, C, D and E all ready as fallback positions. This should have been done 6 weeks ago for the last window. The Danes have just been stringing us along.

That civility and focus in issues is the result of following the rules of dialogue that have been posted before. This extract about what separates debate from dialogue is key.
” In dialogue each party must listen to the other as openly and sympathetically as s/he can in an attempt to understand the other’s position as precisely and, as it were, as much from within, as possible. Such an attitude automatically includes the assumption that at any point we might find the other party’s position so persuasive thks at, if we would act with integrity, we would have to change, and change can be disturbing.”
What is key is setting aside the prejudgements we all hold in order to be open to persuasion. The most harmful prejudgement of the other is their motivation. In lable terms ” happy clapper” or mineshafter are the most harmful as they act like a blocking filter that prevents sympathetically being open to the views of the other.
I mean why be open to someone we already judge as a tosser?
Replace the personal prejudgement with the filter view The Board are a shower if ne’er do wells and the chances of dialogue establishing agreement are zilch.
When judgement is left at the door dialogue has a chance of agreement being reached, even if only to agree to disagree.

Au contrauire that is exactly why views should be expressed although I think more than words are needed to bring about change which I tried to do since 2013 and in 2019 after being lied to at that AGM.
Otherwise it’s akin to shovelling green steam.
Iniquitous

I posted this at end of last thread. Tremendous listen. Harry Brady lays our inadequacies out in blunt terms in how we go about recruitment. Apart from Engels, not one of our first team was scouted. They were all either academy players, manager picks or punts on agent recommendations. We have got very lucky sometimes in amongst a lot of dross but no proper scouting system exists. And our means of negotiating all stems from PLs days in charge. They have never changed. We are good at getting players out but not in unless on our own restricted terms. And Ross Hall who is a scout himself (not for us) was damning on Tidsdale. Really good listen

What would be an indicator that change was happening?
Celtic deciding to be honest with the support and being prepared to engage in dialogue with supporter reps who themselves are as open to persuasion of arguments for and against change as the other side.
Nah a pipe dream.

Answering the question on your restrictive terms simply confirms your preferences or prejudices.
Pipe dreams tend to be self fulfilling.

Gies a rest.
I gave an answer based on what I think is missing. Trust.
What you make of it is up to you or are you saying mistrust is not a factor at play when you display it yourself in mistrusting my reply?
Now if you were to state mistrust is not a factor with reasons to say so that would be dialogue, but you already put up a ill informed filter judgement to save you making a case.
Since you are not engaging in dialogue I see no point entering a discussion.
“Since you are not engaging in dialogue I see no point entering a discussion.”
But yet you did. Quite aggressively.
