On again/Off again

It might well be said that the relationship between the executive and the supporters is akin to that of an unhappy couple always bickering at each other with the occasional outburst of fury breaking into the public domain.
So it happened on Saturday when we were once again graced with a Dermot rant broadcast through the clubs media only not bearing his name.

The sanctity of the golf course was not only breached but his presence in those circles brought disruption which never elevates ones standing in quality circles. His rant may as well have been four words,,you crossed the line,,,and it is clear now that his personal line has been crossed.

The Collective, fresh off being welcomed back into the fold of approved to talk with, got the blame and the door publicly slammed in their face and divorce papers served judging by Dermots tenor. I’ve genuinely no idea if that blame is correct or misplaced but blame was cast. Left with nothing to lose and everything to gain the Collective have since announced they will be doubling down on their efforts.

Its an impasse that makes the Hormuz Strait look like small-talk and backing the beleaguered team and manager to the maximum appears increasingly unlikely in the midst of fresh hostilities on Kerrydale Street. Sidelining a huge swalve of the support is never a wise course of action and if the Tims grow exasperated on the park plus off it then there will be a tidal wave of determination to drive proper change through, whatever that looks like.

The problem with issuing battle cry’s is that one day battle arrives.
The problem with making the place toxic is that the buck stops with him and the board.
The new manager is already on a loser what with the numerous qualifiers, late budget arrivals, and a world famous club at war with itself.
But its all our fault.

This is pitiful from Scotland at home to a nation of 2m.

These players should be forming a better team than we’re currently seeing.

McGinn at Villa is a bit like Ferguson at Bologna. Both are Good mids who are asked to play a more attacking role, and can be great because they are surrounded and are supported by very good more technical mids around them in two very well coached teams. McGinn’s greatest strength is his drive and commitment. But For Scotland, in part because the international game is more technical and tactical, and they are often on the back foot, , they are forced to play deeper and more tactically. Not sure that is their strength.

October 6, 2026 9:29 pm

If you only listened to the commentary on this game, you’d think Gilmour was outstanding and McBurnie was the unluckiest player in world football. The pictures tell a different story – Gilmour is anonymous and whoever told McBurnie he’s a professional footballer needs a punch in the face.

October 6, 2026 9:33 pm

Question. You’re losing 2-1 at home in a game you need to win. The players already on the pitch are producing nothing threatening. What do you do?
Answer. Bring on an attacking sub with 3 minutes to go.
Outstanding.

‘What really pisses me off is Collective behaviour is polarising the support.’
###
Well they would hardly be the only ones open to that accusation.
I daresay there might be those who would put you in the dock alongside them on that charge.
++++++++++++++++
I dare say but an opinion that would not stand scrutiny of the evidence. It would a meaning they would want to take to support their confirmation bias.

I’m not against the Collective expressing their anger but, it has to be thought through and I see no evidence of that whatsoever, although I have to admit to not knowing what their actual purpose is and how what they are doing is going to achieve it.

I sometime regret not joining the CST early doors (2010ish) when they took up my resolution at St Marys on SFA Transparency and Accountability to Celtic (4 weeks later as I acted as mediator between CST and CSA) who were more than happy to take to SFA. I might have influenced their direction, but I would not have lasted six months because I simply think differently.

I just could not reconcile my values of co-operation and honesty with theirs of confrontation and duplicity.

If that is where others might see me as causing polarising then its not my problem, that judgement belongs to whoever makes it.

The falling apart after half time was so reminiscent of Celtic since Lask. Is it a mental or physical thing or just a lack of positional arranging?

The Club has maintained the stance that they are not responsible for supporters outside the stadium imprint for many years.
The Club will now apparently ban people for events elsewhere though.
Talk about being hypocritical.

Toxicity levels would reduce if the ponderous coaching staff could find a formation and tactical approach that makes best use of the assets available.

The core “ leadership” group were available during the break, did they have a say with MoN n Maloney & Co.

The backline, not properly strengthened at centre half and left back during the transfer window, currently picks itself from those fit and available. It’s as good as it can be.

Midfield is a pick n mix mess of misfits, which we have somehow managed to reduce in quality, with Baur the only worthwhile addition seen so far. No matter what our Captain plays. Adaptability doesn’t come into play.

We can score goals against dross but when even slightly better opposition are against us we fail to make any real impression.

We’ll no doubt keep doing what we’ve done over the last dozen games. We are averaging around 15 shots against us, 4/5 on target on average per game. Obviously a lot worse v the better quality opposition.

Does the money generated from the Oasis gigs count as football earnings?

If so that contributes towards higher wages for players.

If not then the executives on the Board, particularly the Finance Director might see it reflected in their remuneration depending on their KPIs.

As regards what The Board get I cgaf. Its not coming out of my pocket, but I can understand the feelings of regular attenders who rightly expect better performances for their money although that is not enough on its own to pay for a better quality squad.
